Autumnal Scotland
The deer leaps in the autumn glow
Mindful of the forthcoming snow
In the glen the heather’s in bloom
A wonderful place here in nature’s room
Along the coast the seabirds fly
Catching thermals, riding high
Nests built up along the ridges
Among the rocks, grass and the midges
The waves break many feet below
Causing an iridescent green glow
As plumes of spray escape the brine
An act that’s repeated time after time
