Thought of the Day

strike us down that we may rise
all shook up, to our surprise
aghast looking at our past
where dark lust was our repast

Crustfallen

The Sunday School teacher May Crow
Wanted children their God to know
Alas her repast
Created a blast
That caused them to puke domino

Bounty of Repast

gravest blessings,

who can eat when heart’s filled with grief?

             —all we can do

Untited

A soft meadow
Amidst the hard city concrete,
The wind blowing notes through the reeds
Above the traffic highway noise,
There I made a sight repast
     upon the future.

For Tea

After he finished his repast
Jesus said that he would go fast
But he did not run
And when he was done
His diet plan left us aghast!

The Lotus At Midnight

Floating blissfully alone in a moonlit, silvery repast.

Scenting the night with her heady, fragrance of romance.

Today I Fast

A bigger bite of life
for a hunger meant to last
Insatiable inherence
starvation my repast

Partaking of tomorrow
in dreams of future feasts
Anticipations banquet
—where ravenous I eat

Feasting On Famine

Feeding on my hunger
  the days were longer still

That yet to come and still undone
  left victim to my will

Starvation my horizon
  its emptiness on fire

Unending pangs my souls repast
  —a famine to inspire

August Breeze

Memories of a summer day,
chasing colder winds away

Lasting treasures so defined,
lace the corners of my mind

Zephyrs of a distant past,
breath unto my soul’s repast

Every hope and wish redeemed
—melting fast this winter freeze

Seven - Sunset Repast

slowly - a coolness rises
hints of a sunset repast
as a humble ambiance
embraces the heat of day
simmering the tedium
cleansing the city's palate
No waiting - setting for one

Thought of the day

memory revisits the erased past
who does it address: ego or our soul
let this not become the ego’s repast
lest we are deflected from our life’s goal
which is rekindling light scriptures extol
simply present in thought rested silence
our soul’s shielded from thought borne violence

The Pack

We prowl we howl in fear you scowl. We run at night full moons alight. The taste’s so sweet copper-iron you see... Fresh flesh’s the best a cut above the rest. So tender succulent repast sublime! Ashamed by day ravaged by night.

A Singular Repast

We are to each other now
many decades later
what we were the day

we got married, a couple
at the kitchen table on
a summer night—she

a slice of watermelon,
corners touching the ceiling,
covering my face in juice

and I the corn she butters
before she devours it.
We eat as fast as we can.

A Very Berry Kiss

He’d take dates back to his place for late-night pancakes smeared with golden butter, doused in luscious boysenberry sauce. Halfway through this small repast, he’d lean forward, letting moist berry lips move softly over his lovely lady’s mouth. For PD's Kissing Game Poetry Contest and now for Nathan's Anything Goes

Like Smoke Through a Keyhole

Like Smoke Through a Keyhole Live each day as though it might be your last. Savor each drink in lifes repast. As our lives pass so quickly, like smoke through a keyhole. Love your God and all people. Leave bitterness outside your heart and gate. What awaits you, is a shining fate.            October 26, 2019

Ill At Ease

If disease were aware
Would it look up from its meal,
And look me in the eyes?
Would it dab its mouth
Removing any trace
Of you from its face?
Would it be annoyed
At the interruption?
Would it notice the loss
And grief decaying my spirit
Before its eyes?
Would it feel guilt,
Or turn away from my misery,
And continue its repast?

On Loan

Where does insight come from,
where do answers lie
A mockingbird to mimic truth
in streaks across the sky
The echoes of tomorrow
retreat into the past
As crumbs from where it all began
form a new repast
The light belongs to no one
all live within its glow
To claim its brightness title banned
—and lease what can’t be owned

Feast of Sounds

FEAST OF SOUNDS

Music

Noted repast

Nourishes the spirit

Euphony filled with harmony

Soulful

Jettisoning Fear

blast from the past
leaves us appalled & aghast
crude wake up call
delusion blown in the squall

savage dream images
ferality that conscience ravages
remnants of our past
resurfacing for an unholy repast

negativity seeking release
being a bubble of ego imaginary
we allow it to quietly burst
for love alone quenches our thirst

in prayerful surrender

Dust Quells What Time Tells

Listen to poem:
Dust coats mementos in treasure trove
In a veil that palls recall with a shroud.
It dims the past with repast of neglect,
That taints memories with fading, settling light.
Echoes become fainter, scenes blur,
The sharp clear focus softens in the listless mist
As dust pervades relentless, unstoppable
It quickens the quell that time tells
Neglected memories to fade, be lost and begone.
