Grove

The grove of redwoods;
Silent, an ancient stillness,
Soothing and serene --
I once saw a goddess there,
Eyes of night and starlight hair.

Cold formitable laden

Watchtowers

Titans tilting, tangibly human windmills
Swaying sentries, harboring haloed witness
Lofted coal mines, timber canary cages
            Whispers from redwoods

Spring

From rime comes revival;
The old is renewed.
Genesis;
A hint of revitalization;
Breathing fresh life
And casting a revitalized shadow.

Rooted redwoods edge the bud,
Preserving the potential of what will be.

California

Big Bear I met her there
She was in the snow.
San Clemente
By the sea
Her hair golden brown.
Arcata
I like her,
Her redwoods running free.

Mountain Prayers { Triple Tetractys }

The
Mountains
Bring me so
Much peace inside
I love to go there to talk to my Lord
I know a place that is so beautiful
Giant Redwoods
Majestic
Touch the
Sky
The
Silence
Broken by
A waterfall
Crystal clear reflections from up above

Redwood Skies

Redwoods cloaked in green
home to golden birds, singing
up in true blue skies
So ancient and prodigious
hailing the stars and the moon

Redwood rosy morn
redwood soaked in the sunset
with silent breezes
Lord of the dark green forest
still in its vigorous youth

Hidden Stream

Waltzing ‘mongst the redwoods she now meanders
Shyly smiling, candid in guileless virtue
Feeling carefree, gleeful, of threats unwary...
Progress encroaches.

Mother Nature

Can you hear me?
Can you hear my call?
The call across the nation
through the valleys and to
the redwoods that stand so tall.

Echo's from history sting the wind
as each day goes on, again and again.
Repeating lessons we still have not learned,
Will my human children heal our wounded world?

The Ancient Redwoods

~ ~
Each limb could write a thousand books, --

                        as wind investigates the pages

Redwood Dance

As fine an inspiration
The redwood trees are
They still are too huge
To fall down off of
Listening to an Enya song
Covering my heart with music
Soothing the grumpy soul
That lies deep within
Maybe I’ll dance
Under the stars bright
Grooving to the moves of night
Taking down these redwoods
Till the morning light

Kindness of Trees

My neighborhood boasts trees so grand,
Their emerald smiles stretch through the land.

The Redwoods rise, so proud, so high,
The palms reach wide beneath the sky.

The oaks give back in countless ways,
The deciduous shine in season's praise.

I cherish their bond, so pure, so true,
Their kindness is all they ever knew.

Huge Garage Sale

The residents will soon be moving.
There is lots of miscellaneous and
still useable items.
Some old growth redwoods
and fishable seas, some
breathable air
and unpolluted shores,
bargains galore so
don't hesitate
to make an offer.
All prices are negotiable
and everything must go.
Saturday, from 9-5, please,
no earlies.
Earth, the nearest cross-street
is Milky Way.

Buddha Nature

It is so easy at four o clock
in the morning,
under a starry sky,
surrounded by redwoods
and pines,
centered and breathing
clear air and watching
the sky travelers
make their rounds.
Buddha nature is a piece of cake
until Six PM in the dining hall
with wife and children,
a bloody bore on your right,
who's elbow's in your food,
as he shakes your hand,
and moves into your table.
Now, lets see your Buddha Nature!

Forest Mirage

"The forests are my bones"

Within the hand that guides the mountain spruce
The architect for leaves dewy and green
A forest the curving seasons produce
Composed of redwoods thick and saplings lean
Is born the flowered branch from roots unseen
Framing the sunlit sweep of August grain
And filled with the mirage of summer rain.

                                      the great outdoors,
                                    the gigantic redwoods
and the fragrant pines and hemlocks,
                                      so cleansing to the air,
                                           lover of trees,

Spiritual Redwoods

The Redwoods are special indeed
When trying to understand the trees
Massive in both girth and height
The gentle giants of the woods

When trying to understand the trees
They’re very spiritual in nature
The gentle giants of the woods
They totally captivate the mind

They’re very spiritual in nature
Massive in both girth and height
They totally captivate the mind
The Redwoods are special indeed

Redwoods

the tall redwood trees
burnt, carved, hollowed for shelter
still green & standing tall

like a redwood tree
I feel tormented and saddened
ignoring hardships
standing here for centuries
sharing calm & serenity

wish I could be like a redwood grove aged with wisdom
I feel like a giant overshadowing my misfortunes
sharing my thoughts and giving peace and happiness to all in world

Rapture

Rapture is easy.
Look at the very top of a rushing waterfall,
the white horses
leaping.
Or look up
from the smallest seed
at the giant redwoods.
Easy to get lifted up
billowed out on the wonder.
Yet who called the giants ‘giants’,
the seed small?
The rapture
of not seeing the white horses
just knowing they are there
behind the giants and the seeds
all bursting out from nothing
back to nothing,
that kind of rapture is enough.
