Forest Mirage

"The forests are my bones"

Within the hand that guides the mountain spruce
The architect for leaves dewy and green
A forest the curving seasons produce
Composed of redwoods thick and saplings lean
Is born the flowered branch from roots unseen
Framing the sunlit sweep of August grain
And filled with the mirage of summer rain.

I'm charmed by the forest imagery in this, and its gentle flow, like a misting rain. I think I like "The architect for leaves dewy and green" best of your many strong lines. I have seen from afar and driven through some pretty majestic forests in Oregon, I wonder if they were what inspired this? Truly lovely ~ John

We had a small amount of rain recently, just a little, and I had the thought that it was like a mirage, which led to that line - glad you liked it!

Some people love a beach but I am most in love in the forest! When I was stationed in N. California I did not know to visit the Redwood Forest! I would’ve loved that.
