Pintka 1
summer solstice moon
bright as an oncoming train
pressing silver light
into my glistening pint
carving stark shadows from the night

Ends of Sight
The fading images...
So distant from this ledge;
Seeming to bow before...
Travelers along the stretch.
Trapped in a hazy glimpse,
Staring into oncoming terrain;
It’s just future's shadows...
Dancing in the distant rain....

Those Places You Fear
My mind often visits
  those places you fear

My soul, my protectress,
  my words as my spear

My voice now a fortress
  from oncoming attack

My spirit embracing
  —those feelings you lack

Stormy Sunset
I watch in awe as the oncoming night slowly eats the bottom of the rainbow leaving just a tiny arc high in the sky. For a brief moment, golden beams shine up across the stormy sky, the days dying rays a final show of defiance reaching up to the heavens before darkness envelopes us....

what if
the light at the end of the tunnel
is an oncoming train?

what if
you don't learn from your lessons
and you can't survive the present?

what if
there's no gain after the pain
and the insane are those who reign?
will you remain?

what if
this is
the apocalypse?...

Premium Member Wisdom From An Old Cat
So, the Old Cat and I were talking this morning. We were in the kitchen. No one else was awake. I was enjoying my first cuppa and he was grooming. We came to the conclusion that Life Is What It Is: Run like mad from the oncoming freight train, and never neglect a nice spot of sunshine....

Premium Member Creation's Whisper
Through the silent twilight
Of oncoming darkness,
Arrives the bright white moon
Shining in the dark blue sky
On Glimmering, snow covered ground
I could only wonder why,
Such a view can be found
Then I heard the creation’s whisper,
And it all made perfect sense

he will find himself on crisp cold mornings looking for a
soup kitchen, anything hot to warm the cruel growl
eating away at his stomach
amid falling leaves he senses the oncoming winter

I Sense
I hear the thunder of the galloping horse
I see the eagle soar as it claims the sky
I smell the delight of the lotus' first bloom
I taste the sweet dew of the oncoming spring
I feel the soft velvet of the lion's coat
In this I sense the return of the sun and the retreat of the cold, harsh winter....

Summer Tempest

Oncoming tempest
Charges the air with ion
Strong wind gusts predicted soon

Torrents of rain fall
Like a river coming down
Flooding sidewalks and sewers

A rainbow appears
Promise sign that seems to say
"The city’s survived the storm."

Premium Member Backwash
Listen to poem:
The backwash reflection
sent waves seawards
to crash headlong
into the oncoming waves
sending swash and spray skywards.
It was fun to go careering out
and ride the surge, and get upshot
as the two waves met and banged together.
The afterglow of backwash aftereffect
was exhilarating that afternoon....

the suns bursting energy
sets off an illumination heat source
as trees slowly drop their leaves
becoming bare-boned
their slender branches
with chipped bark
from ornery squirrels
playfully collecting nuts
across Indian Lake
the water ripples
from oncoming
sailboats
catching the last of falls wind...

Here they are upon us
Cooler nights of late summer
The taste of oncoming fall
Ghost stories around the campfire
Under a crisp starry sky
While tall flickering flames
Dance the night away to the rhythm
of nostalgic background drumming

Premium Member Eye of Afternoon
While the day is bright
I am content unto myself
And only with oncoming night
Do I begin to speak or solitary, write,
Reluctant to allow
My thoughts to die asleep.

The sun is flying overhead, but see...
A shadow reaches for the mind
And I would leave awake one eye
To know the paths I've been,
To see me where I lie....

The Mole and the Vole
The mole and the vole, went out for a stroll

For the moon was all shiny and bright.

Happily chatting, unaware of the flapping

As the incredulous owl now took flight.

Too late they saw the oncoming claw

So enraptured they were by the moon,

The mole and the vole, poor little souls.

Their demise, it came all too soon....

Wind and Tide
.

The silhouette of a smile
         on her lips
fades and is lost in the
     deepening dusk.
Now the whistling winds
  whip her words away.

There on the soft, moist sand
       her footprints melt
with the warm, oncoming tide
             at his feet.
    He's got nothing to say
         to make her stay.

Shatter
Scorching through the night like a dead, damned flame;
singing wildland hymns to the oncoming rain.
Watching stars fall into her eyes and her falling, too;
everything is destined to end like this.
When she howls, I can hear my eardrums shatter;
the depth of her is terrifying.
I want her depth to be my sanctuary;
I want to feel her shatter....

Destination of Equivalence
there is a place that
does not have a label
or a name

there is a time that places
no type of blame on rivulets
of pure shame

there is a vibe that is similar
to walking the tracks of that
rare oncoming train

that destination of equivalence
is the solid center of your warm
and gentle heart....that helps my
brain remain sane........

Break a Leg
structure seems to soften slightly
under your steps; systematic leaps
up, over & out into the depths. eyes
dilate & grow cold from so many deaths;
no longer wept; burn out. here,
listen, the shout of sense echoes at our
expense, shadows the oncoming threat.
no more resistance, let all awareness go-
as the curtain releases, shields the show....

Premium Member If Only They'D Listen
As her car crossed paths with the oncoming driver,
out her window she shouted "PIG!"
The oncoming driver screamed back "WITCH!" to the woman
is what the oncoming driver did.
When he came around the curve
he immediately swerved
into a huge pig and was killed in an instant.
The moral of the story simply is this:
Men, if only they'd listen....
