A Room of Her Own
A ROOM OF HER OWN

Byron died at thirty six
Prolific poet’s work was done
Lucky I am still alive
I had no time ‘til fifty one....

Premium Member You Have Nothing In Common
you have nothing in common
we knew it, but we married anyway
you will not last
it has been over fifty-one years, so maybe they were wrong

you have different religions.
we know.
your backgrounds are totally opposite.
maybe that is why we work....

Premium Member Today's Forecast - Real Feel
It's fifty one degrees outside,
but it feels like forty five.
Rain is drip drop drizzling
and it drenches like a dive.

A cold wind chill is coming in,
perhaps that's why it feels this way,
or maybe because I'm splashing in puddles
and you and the sun don't want to play.

Premium Member My 51st Marriage Anniversary
A hand was put in my hand
I remember fifty years back
I still hold that hand firmly
Today unaltered.

Our wedding was accomplished
Exactly fifty one years back
The celebrations of it
Continues this day.

Anniversary is time
To celebrate today’s joy
The memories of yesterday
Hopes of tomorrow

Alone In the Wilderness
If we can’t agree on fifty-one percent
of what affects us both
we’re doomed
Like the baby and the bathwater
our future lost
in critical disdain

All politics of division
a self-imposed, self-righteous
Armageddon
The brotherhood of humanity
sacrificed
—on its dying altar of shame

Premium Member Like a Copse
Shariah had turquoise hair and rouge so red.
Usually people like this are copse, they’re dead.
She must be fifty-years old a teenager said.
I rolled my eyes, at this young corn-fed.

Fifty is my daughter’s age.
She is actually fifty-one, on a yearly gauge.
So for him to say fifty as if it is a hundred and two.
Made me extra feisty, so I gave him the bottom of my shoe....

A New Baby In Australia
This is an event grander than any other.
A friend of mine has become a grandmother.
A girl was born to her son and daughter-in-law.
This is the cutest baby anyone ever saw.
Eight pounds, nine ounces, and fifty-one centimeters in length,
this baby girl named Ashley is the picture of strength.
This is a most blessed event.
There is a new life on the Australian continent....

Premium Member Encounter To Forget
After thirty stares, he walks to the lady to impress, being a hip hop guy
he has recently not seen one this beautiful, confident, calm but not shy.
She counters his marvelous lines with: "I'm fifty-one years old."
and comforts him immediately with: "you're too young to be this bold."

Premium Member The Deep Freeze
The weather became bitter cold today
And housebound I will stay
I went out to try and start the car
It's winter's coldest day by far.

Colder than the inside of a deep freeze they say
minus fifty one the thermometer does display
I keep turning up the heat
To warm my body especially my feet

I want the cold spell to go away
Hoping for a warmer day
So you who have the sun and heat
A hot day would be a wonderful treat....

Premium Member Best Less Said
In nineteen fifty one, brother Nigel
died while mother gave him birth.
Folks didn't to talk to one another,
but bore their trauma deep beneath.

"Best less said," her father's words
standing stiffly by her bed. "Press on,
my girl, forget the past and
make the best. Nothing to be done."

Each year 'til our dear mother died
she talked of Nigel' s death.
She said she'd never even cried,
but did what father said was best....

Climate change? Evolutionary craziness. If you ask me.
I guess this shows how gullible the masses can be.
Yes, actually Tuesday it was sixty-two below.
This is Saturday, and the sun is a beautiful glow.
