much pain
incurred?
sounds like
a turd
be not
deterred
with time
heart’s cured

Response to Caren Krutsinger’s A Little Bird Told Me
A leprechaun grants me three wishes—it’s my lucky day!
But for my ex he’ll double each gift--much to my dismay!
Not at all deterred
And for the last and third
I say beat me to death just half way
HAIL TO THE KING ON HIS BIRTHDAY
Today, let’s celebrate MLK’s birthday;
His dream seemingly deferred, but not deterred:-
His reality lives and his dream of liberty is on the way;
His “I Have A Dream” legacy speech, reality words heard:-
We Can Count on Each other
trust me
I will be there
nothing can deter me
believe that I can always help
love wins
love wins
I know that you always help me
you cannot be deterred
be there, I will
trust you

I forgive
I forgive your arrogance
Matched by your ignorance
Interrogated by malevolence
I took you condescension
Your hidden intentions
Your lying invention
Politeness deterred prevention
I’m glad there was no extension

My prose becoming painful,
poetry yet a joy
Explaining has deterred me,
rhyme a favorite toy
Sentences locked and muted,
as couplets run and play
New paragraphs unwritten
—as verse my heart does pray
(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2020)
Trump threw fake air kisses
To his very bored looking Mrs.
Funny, how her wide brimmed hat
Deterred them from the love rat.
So many of the laws he broke
He will soon begin to revoke.
What a shame he’s the POTUS
A STORMY four years for Flotus
Sighs
The fresh chill
Of November morn
The stare of icy eyes
While the sun is born
Fetal innocence
Unaware, the Fall demise
Young oak unconvinced
Not older braver trees.
Blow north wind
Unfettered
Against the shallow charms
And golden warmth, deterred
By fragile youth's alarms.
Hearts bonded across the land
not deterred by the miles
Whispers and promises
finally a chance to meet.
Hearts were finally filled
such joy never known
they sat and watched
the sun settle into the Pacific
“Hold on to me,” she asked
“just a little while longer.”
Rocky Mountains tower in God’s sun
Their splendor captured in photos
Below wild stallions make a run
Putting on such fun-filled air shows
Silhouettes of birds passing by
I call to them, but remain unheard
Now I too feel free enough to fly
But looking down, by fear I’m deterred

Have you heard what I have heard -
that when your quill is inspired or spurred,
the act of writing, it might be inferred,
as, with watching feathered beasts (not furred),
must never cause you to to be deterred;
and, as the distinction is somewhat blurred,
the methodology most preferred
is "bird by bird, word by word".
Some numpty bad mouthed my soup style
I’ve taken a break for a while
But I won't be deterred
From writing about turd
And subjects some others deem vile
I’m producing book number two
It contains some poems on poo
Foul flatus departing
Old codgers rank farting
And my pet hate vile doggy doo!
So far in the past-
Were those promises,
A campaign now cast-
To the blank corners of the mind,
What happened to you?
Have you succumb to the greed of green?
Has it deterred you from what is good and right?
I beg of you, Barack-
Keep the promises,
Do the proper things,
Do not allow yourself-
To be bought by big business.
before barristers
bone-busting brouhahas broached
barbaric bedlam
comely charwomen
cringed contemplating cruel
commonplace cudgelings
dank dungeons deterred
disorderly drunken dolts
dissuading dissent

Emma, I would love to be you
How careless you seem with love
Trusting your hands with blind eyes
Guided by only the faith in your heart
If you get a break or suffer a bad fall or two
You keep moving as if nothing bad happened to love
Pain is so frustrated being deterred and always lagging behind
It never seem to get ahead in your heart
Emma, I would love to be you
The innocence of daughters plucked off their souls
Orphans spread wide, agony on streets
Scavenges merry on rotting heritage
Nation's sweat burning, humanity's creativity scattered in ashes
Men were not teary, nor deterred by their transience of life
They match, hoping to wreak the bloodthirsty beast
Of vengeance and wrath
They carried the future's hope in the search for peace
PRACTISE
Tell me and I forget, he said
Yet I never shall be deterred
It is advice that one has read
Benjamin Franklin’s wisest word
Teach me and I will remember
It is always what I have heard
Memory’s like a hot ember
Benjamin Franklin’s wisest word
But then Involve me and I learn
A significant role preferred
Understanding is what I yearn
Benjamin Franklin’s wisest word
Splashes of waves;
crashes on rocks,
facts about life
told me, I thought.
Deterred the rocks stood;
crashed harder the waves could.
In bad and good times,
be it rain or sun shines.
Each wave made the rocks glitter;
so does our life,
enriched with experience
better or bitter.
Rushed the water
as it swept by;
so does our life
with smile or sigh!

Heart of fire, Soul of grace
I feel strengthened by His Love
So tell me, "What is Insurmountable?"
God Is Great, Through Him all is possible
Rarely deterred by obstacles faced
Actually, I feel empowered by His Grace
Caring Lord, I am anointed with Your Blessings
Empathetic Lord, This cold world I will face

I know competition is only war
It is all we are trained to do
There in parade an army of czar
Republican troops forward too
And bright still shines the regiments
Of kings, or a modern queen
Islands too with prouder contingents
Marched upon the Olympic scene
I cheer because there is no blood shed
No trumpet crying over the drum
Grumbling for the burial of the dead.
It is bloodless better, this deterred wisdom
as youth and beauty slowly fade
a black and white reel from yesterday
the blossom falling from the flower
while the clock ticks away the hours
all the innocence seeped away
painted with a brush that’s jaded
a mirror reflection of who we were
looking back a likeness blurred
the image not at all the same
deterred by the game life played
wondering where the good life went
now that we are old and spent
What has words has voles into what into what I say may come in the month of May. To see what happens can be deterred. So I tell to a future in love can come soon.
I well rise soon to my time and there is something I wish for you. Can you ask?
Can you do or is it still to soon? I call thee to my soul. Bring happiness to the world for the holy is to rise inside the light. When the time comes all thou shell art in the world
Chasing the wind

Chasing your dreams
Can feel like you're
Chasing the wind -
It's always just
Out of reach,
And you can't hold on.
But if you stand really still,
And allow the wind to
Embrace you;
Everything you need
Will be brought
Right to you.
So don't be deterred;
Focus on what you want -
Instead of you
Chasing the wind,
Let the wind bring you
All its got.

They put up a sign on the highway
Which pointed the way to a bridge,
Replacing the prior one, thinking
Perhaps it improved things a smidge.
But yikes! No one bothered to proofread;
The name of the bridge was misspelled.
If I were the person in charge, well,
They’d censor the words I’d have yelled.
It boggles the mind to imagine
How something so stupid occurred.
A double-check would have made certain
Such nonsense would have been deterred.
The limerick form IS risqué
It’s bawdy and contains word play
I won’t be put off
By critics who scoff
And shoot off about foul play
I’m gobsmacked, I think it quite fickle
That someone’s upset by a pickle
Although some deem it ‘nawdy’
Limericks can be bawdy
My humour won’t slow to a trickle
I will not be deterred from trying to bring a little humour to people's life and bring a much needed smile.
