["Debutante" saw the light of day in my first poetry chapbook, "The Lady in the Pink Hat," Candor Press, 1969.]

Sighs The fresh chill Of November morn The stare of icy eyes While the sun is born Fetal innocence Unaware, the Fall demise Young oak unconvinced Not older braver trees. Blow north wind Unfettered Against the shallow charms And golden warmth, deterred By fragile youth's alarms.

This is superb, Milt. You really entered the mind of a debutante. Amazing for a young male to be capable of that. Bravo, gw

Love this. You must have been so young when you wrote it. I did not even really write poetry until later in my middle age.

Thanks, Andrea. I have been writing since I was in elementary school, believe it or not. Published my first poem in a national magazine when I was in college. I was thrilled. Still am thrilled that anyone would write anything I write! But, then, you know that feeling, too.
