Today, I received an early Father's Day gift from my birdwatching son.  It's a book I hadn't heard of, and haven't yet begun to read, called Bird by Bird (Some Instructions on Writing and Life) by Anne Lamott.  It looks like it might be good.  The title made me laugh and inspired me to write this silliness.

Have you heard what I have heard - that when your quill is inspired or spurred, the act of writing, it might be inferred, as, with watching feathered beasts (not furred), must never cause you to to be deterred; and, as the distinction is somewhat blurred, the methodology most preferred is "bird by bird, word by word".

Ha, ha, ha! Delightful... And -- here I permit myself a totally random, moronic comment -- this takes me back to that 1965 'golden oldie' by the 'Trashmen,' titled: 'The Bird is the Word.' If you've never seen the video, google it. It's a MAJOR HOOT. It's only about 2.5 minutes --- of complete kitsch.

Thanks, Gershon, and oh, yes, I well remember that song! I think once you hear it, you can't "unhear". I do like that song - it's kind of a guilty pleasure.
