It Boggles the Mind

They put up a sign on the highway Which pointed the way to a bridge, Replacing the prior one, thinking Perhaps it improved things a smidge. But yikes! No one bothered to proofread; The name of the bridge was misspelled. If I were the person in charge, well, They’d censor the words I’d have yelled. It boggles the mind to imagine How something so stupid occurred. A double-check would have made certain Such nonsense would have been deterred.

I have even seen "STOP" misspelled, as well as many other road signs, but still laugh about Plaid Cymru replacing all the English road signs with signs in Welsh; who knew if they were misspelled?

I hate it when such errors are made, especially when they're visible to one and all! It appears that some people get paid to make mistakes and not proof read them :) Your poems are always a delight to read Ilene. Best regards // paul

Enjoyed the jab to the powers that be who made the sign who didn’t bother to see the error. And kudos to your poem for pointing it out.

It happens all too often, Ilene. I guess there's no real explanation except for carelessness and lack of proofing. I really thought your poem made an excellent point. Good rhymes and flow, too.

Liked the poem very much. Very good flow and rhyme. I usually refer to these types of problems as a result of the “dumbing down of America.” Is there an end in sight? I wish I knew. John

When I first moved to where I am now living, the sign giving mileage info of the next town over had that town's name spelled wrong. It stayed that way for a couple of years. You would think people would be more careful! Great write, Ilene! Blessings, Kim M
