Corral Two Step
Rattling hocks
And that mane flowing free
Stirrups adangle
You danced around me
Wrapped up in reins
And enraptured it's true
It was a cinch I'd be saddled with you...

I’m always the last.
Yet I wield immense power.
Use me, abuse me.
So prattle on, I’ll let you
corral your thoughts, let you breathe.

Your Wings Carve the Sea
Stiff wings
Of the sooty tern
Carve the edge of this corral sea
Then, you free fall but never touching land
Glide, tumble and soar above the white sand
Still, your wings carved the sea...

I stare at the guy
He is a nut bucket

Not your bag?
Okay
Why don’t you climb into the corral with the bull

Now I know this guy is certifiable...

Opec
A weary, old father trying to corral his children
while proud young bachelors vie with each other
in reckless, blind competition.

A thankless task to exert control,
but others refuse to.

Once upon a time
Little lamb lost
Shepard searching all sides
Little lamb found
Where are you, wow
What are you doing now
Now that you're in my arms
And no longer in the corral
No more do you run wild

To Love and Be Loved
Life is such a fragile gift
One that should be treasured
We live to love and to be loved
Emotions cannot be measured
Love is never explained by rationale
and will not be bound by fence or corral

Chickens we consign to coops
    Pigs we pack into pens
Horses we corral in a stable
Cows we stick in a shed

Our children play in spacious playpens
at night, like roses, they sleep in a bed
Yet animals have fun, they feed and frolic

The Open Prairie, the Western Sky
In an old shack
on a dusty hill
an old man sits
and writes his will

His cracking  throat sings
“The day of Bexar”
And he goes outside
Looking wide and far

The corral he built
his livelihood on;
the 7 crosses
by the okra lawn

He closes his eyes
one last time
On the open prairie
Under the Western Sky...

Impetuous Words Written: by Miracle Man June 3, 2021 Each word that I say, contains my DNA. Words, intended as token can’t be unspoken. Impetuous words often sting and heartache may bring. Leaving me with one course, drink a cup of remorse. Can’t worry about morale, if the horse has left the corral.

Clutter
cluttered
like a lawn
on a blustery
autumn day
these thoughts
scattered about
in my mind

my pen
like a rake
can't corral them
to make any sense

so they rest
momentarily
before being aloft
in a spiral
of winded breaths
landing wherever
they may

just waiting
to be gathered
into neat little piles
somewhere again...

Premium Member Admiring Brother Horse
Paiute warrior horses cannot outrun wild quarter horses.
Spanish mustangs and Chickasaw ponies run past.
Taunting and daring native americans to try and corral them.

Paiute warriors admire the way brother horse runs.
He is outfoxing them, wise and wonderful in his wildness.
They turn back to their homeland, knowing they have been bested....

Another dog has been dumped on us.
He looks like a pit bull to me.
I am terrified.
Joe says he is a boxer.

Our dog Buddy loves him.
He is playing with him now, leaping and wrestling.
Animal control has asked us to corral him.
I cannot do it, I fear him.

I ask Joe to do it.
“Corral Brownie?” He says.
It is all over now.
New dog has a name....

Again Is a Foolish Animal
Again is a foolish animal
Being led to the slaughter.
Again, Man. By this, war-times'
Ogrous corral-master.

This is its devouring site.
Quag's miasmic, pounds, heaves
Through which patriotic ritual
A blood sacrifice receives.

Tame herds, firstly driven mad.
Perversely made to appear
To sprout a horn; devilish tail;
Magnifies the other's fear....

Wonderful Sea
Wonderful sea, you gracefully,

send us blue waves, on hot summer days.

Blue like the sky, your waves wave hi.

How kind could you be wonderful sea?

Starfish, dolphins, sharks and whales,

Jellyfish, crabs, the corral reef as well!

You make me smile, all the while.

Your blue waves splash on my feet.

Wonderful sea, you bring back memories!...

"winter Strays"

Hiding
This poem insists on hiding;
It’s resisting being found,
Despite the fact it knows full well
To daily verse I’m bound.

It’s teasing and it’s taunting
Staying just beyond my grasp.
I grapple with it but the words
Just vanish from my clasp.

I’m indebted to my pencil
For it’s managed to corral
This rambunctious little bugger,
Which has lifted my morale....

Li'L Bo Peep
written in an Indian form, abhanga

Lil Bo Peep found her sheep
in a lovely locale
singing Luther’s chorale -
Mighty Fortress.

She’d trailed their tails through town,
but sheep had found a church.
There she ended her search
musical rest.

Left - no longer bereft
refrains raised her morale;
this church, a cool corral
for shepherdess.

Premium Member Summer Kids
on sprouting kid legs
awkward with adolescence
they claim their summer

landing like wild birds
on circular grassy paths
called by adventure

late afternoons, they
corral their urban horses
herds of silver schwinns

flashing bright, they are
off, majestically young
against the sunset

carelessly they ride the crest
turning always to the west
