Tranquillity is-
Spring water flowing coldly
Quench my wretched thirst
For "rhythm of the falls" contests by Raul Moreno
Limits should be set
in many situations,
contests being one.
Better, however, are by these:
sensible, clear instructions.

Contests are quite a too do on PoetrySoup
if contestants must jump through a hoop
an N/A just means place not awarded
nothing more nor less is intended

Poetry contests are clearly a numbers game.
Don’t take them seriously; it will only maim.
Enter eighty and hope to win three.
This philosophy works for me.
To cut the long story short He sponsored one line contests
Funny One Liner Contest for Silent One : )
Hope it makes the sponsor smile.
To enter some of the poetry contests
you would need an English degree.
Even dear old Shakespeare
would be confused,
and put down his quill and leave.
In poetry contests
I'm number one.
In collecting N/A's
I'm second to none.
Losing I found
keeps my feet on the ground.
Which could change
if ever I won.
the last
of seven
hard-fought contests
high school band celebrates
a first
the last
of four tries
to birth a son
finds them with five girls AND
a first
Poetry contests are so much fun
Even though I've never ever won
But that's OK
It's nice to play
We can't all be number one.
Bite Size Poem No34 Poetry Contest
There once was a girl from Nanaimo
Who thought that poetry she did know,
But she found this site
And try as she might,
For contests, the words just didn't flow.
All little boys like to master the fart
Among their peers its considered an art
It must be loud
To make them proud
If stinky, a winner right from the start
Harvest Homecoming
fair brings contests and prizes
my biggest pumpkin
prize matters a lot
one hundred sixty-two pounds
tow trucks don't come cheap

The entries land without much fanfare;
Ignoring rules as though it’s a dare.
Arranged A to Z
I’ve put them to bed
As everyone checked how the judge faired …
There once was a poet named Moreno.
Who wrote some great poems all supremo.
He was king of Haiku.
He helped everyone too!
Raul for the contests our thanks we show!!!!

Though contests may pique you,
Judges critique you.
Challenges push you;
Naysayers shush you.
Rhythms confine you;
Poems define you.

for David Williams' Twenty-Twenty Contest
Writing limericks was Jack's strongest suit
He won all the contests, worth zero loot
He struck out with the gals
Couldn't even make pals
So Jack got practical ~ took up the flute
I was placed second, third and sixth in contests
does it mean I am happy and don't complain?
Of course not, I will complain till kingdom come
Until sponsors realizes friends poems are plain.
Pleasant people inhabit
this workshop of varied verse,
posting posies of many kind-
comments & opinions abound
in blogs ,of the world around-
sponsored contests in galore
brings creativity to the fore
The quill writes, the poem stands real and tall,
some contests are moving targets, bright and slick.
Each contest entry just makes it wobble, fall~
please tell me this is all just harmless shtick.
one more victory

thank you muse
your poems
I write, I am praised -

When I win contests
I feel proud, when I lose -
I blame my muse
