Bravo Brian, you made me smile Now we have clarification of what the 'dreaded' n/a means lol. The blog can run on chewing over the cud but at the end of the day the sponsor has the final decision and if n/a'd we must move on to another contest. Recently I didnt place in a contest with what I thought was a really worthy piece, then on reflection i discovered I had edited it and the syllable count wasn't correct. I will continue to support contests as long as i am able to hold a pen!:-) hugs Jan xx

Yes Jan this is the PoetrySoup advice to sponsors and I follow it and decide there and award a first placing thereto (I dislike differentiating works of art that appeal to me) and thus am able to finalise quickly and publish and discover wrote each winner

Do you judge the poems as soon as they come in, I've noticed the results seem to appear quite quickly once the contest has closed. i know some sponsors read the poems as they come in, others when the contest has closed and wondered what your approach was. Hope you dont mind me asking:-) hugs Jan xx

Also its the reason I try to 'turn over ' my contests quickly to provide another opportunity to 'win' asap

You do that Jan,they are an easy way to communicate with each other,as we would.. face-to face in an evening class
