What Can I Give Up
For lent you have to give up
Something that you enjoy
Well that gave me a lot more choices
When I was but a boy
Now it’s not quite so easy
I don’t enjoy too much at my age
So I will have to give up being cantankerous
Or just give up road rage...

TOLERATION
Endure- suffer- bear- persist
the moons ghastly pastiness
the stars pointless dismay
the voiceless pulsation of the
sea, the cantankerous cackle

My Cantankerous Computer
Last week my computer was on the fritz.
The confounded thing was givin' me fits!
Trouble was a sick modem.

Life sans a computer is jes' the pits!

Fury of the Wind (Limerick)
The face of the ocean seemed to smile
All was calm and quiet for a while
‘Till Wind’s temper was lost
With waves forcefully tossed
In her wrathful cantankerous style

Within without inside out screaming
The pain is unbearable you beasty twit
If you would just lose a leg or an arm
Crippled down bunched up dreaming
Your back is like a rack of ribs on a spit
Shut off this awful belly juggling alarm
Turn up turn out cantankerous filled brain
Take a damn load off before you faint...

Peace To Hooligan
Cantankerous and hooligan,
his spirits were raging,
he was shouting and honking,
like a man gone amuck,
it was a sight,
and he was a fright,
he could have taken anything on anyone,
thats why they watched from afar-everyone,
suddenly eruption faded like a balloon burst,
he had sighted the policemen walking in first....

Surprise
We decided to surprise grandpa with a party on his birthday.
I only want relaxation, rest, fishing, a chance to get away.
When we all yelled “surprise!” the surprise was on us
He had escaped to the lake to fish, he’s a cantankerous cuss.
So we blew out his candles and we ate his cake.
We devoured salads, and we each had steak.
And he had a great time down by the lake.
We learned our lesson, the man is not ever a fake....

Mothering
Listen to poem:
Chaos reigned in our house
when the girls were small.
Daddy worked long hours and
was often not there at all.
When their cantankerous hour
arrived between six and seven.
One on my back, one on my front,
praying to heaven.
As I tripped over toys
left after bath time joys.
Now all is sane,
I have my house back again.
No tears, no tantrums,
hair extensions or scattered clothing.
What I miss most
I must admit is mothering.

Hieronymus Hippopotamus
Hieronymus the Hippopotamus,
Implied at times that he was xylotomous;
Even claiming to be most gregarious.
Real time though, he loved to be autonomous;
Only decidedly not anonymous;
Not to mention being quite hilarious.
Yet no one found him to be synonymous,
Moreover, with the crudely cantankerous;
Unlikely even to be obstreperous.
Some friends on the Nile found him magnanimous....

Joe Pesci
Just a little guy who is quite pugnacious.
Your roles have been those that are cantankerous.
As an actor, you have been nothing short of fabulous.
So many parts in movies we have gotten to know.
You have often been in films with Robert DeNiro.
Memorable cinema includes "Raging Bull" and "Casino".
Even though nobody has used more profanity,
I have often found you both entertaining and funny.
May there be many more of your movies to see.
