Premium Member Spineless Wimp
Listen to poem:
I lie bedraggled, disheveled,
scrunched up and crinkled,
in a pile,
like ratty raggedy
rag doll,
besmirched,
defiled and exiled,
for being a
spineless,
limp
wimp....

Premium Member In Tatters
Listen to poem:
Life bedraggled.
Clown mask in tatters.
What matters, shattered
into a myriad
of jumbled pieces.
Nowhere to hide
when you can't
make a laugh
anymore.
Entropy is funny that way....

as days fade to night
the season blights to winter
dearth of light brings haggard chills

landscape bedraggled
shriveled to black then bleached white
cries ice tears then hibernates...

Winter
With tattered clothes he enters the door
With icy hands he sends shivers and more
Cloaked in bedraggled wear he enters
Many take not a glance to his gender
Ay but Winters near so don warm gear!...

The Water-Bucket
Night leaks from the water-bucket,
it flows onto bedraggled phlox.

The black water is full,
I cannot even see the bucket.

The moon floats
as a lily pad in the blackness.

The purple phlox spills
drowning into dawn light....

Auf Wiedersehen
A shaft of sunlight
splits our dreams
and the spell evaporates,
our fate is sealed,
our goose is cooked!

Morning-mouthed,
bedraggled, the reality of day
makes for a rude awakening,
as reluctantly we say
'auf wiedersehen.'...

Bedraggled Hair Tumble
Tongue flicks at mouths hinge
looking for an inlet rest
breath hold
in tremored chest
His eyes flit
as chocolate twirled dress
comes to autumn leaves fall rest
From your knees discover
each curves turn over
You are mine to use
she rasps from bedraggled hair tumble...

Premium Member Waiting In the Rain
Days
should be
warm in the
middle of June.
The rain clouds obscure
the bright skies every day.
My roses are bedraggled
as the cold wind blows them over.
I'm still waiting for the sun to shine.
I fear it's taking a spring vacation.

His rainment bleak
   Snarls of hair matted
Bloated shoes mud-streaked
   Wisps of hair unhatted

Muttered imprecations
   Hiding teeth jagged
A bedraggled skeleton
   Cursing Nature, near-ragged

Those with golden locks
   and eyes of deep blue
Face the mirror squarely
Could his image have been you?...

Once a cute little bedraggled stray
who wore a tuxedo colored gray
charmed his way into our home to stay.

Regal, royal ruler of the floor
howling, yowling, mewling, “Feed me more!”
Escape artist foils guard at the door.

Now the dish is gone, the house is still,
no pattering paws, no purring trill.
Bones laid to rest on top of a hill....

Lightening Bugs Caramel Apples Darkness - A Haiku

~moon night bedraggled
where lit skies lightening bugs
caramel apples

biggest moonlit star
in the darkness of night shines
the lightening bug

on cold tree branches
bounces apples caramel
and lightening bugs~

Premium Member Belittled Bedraggled
Listen to poem:
Constant denigration
wears you down
you feel so small
as your efforts are
downgraded with cast-off scoffs.
Your pearls bedraggled,
lack lustre,
displayed dimmed and dulled,
squelched by doubt,
smeared in fear.
Duet performance discordant
sung in disharmony
with lead player out of tune,
tone-deaf.
Belittled, you be,
and bedraggled becomes you....

Deep Night In the Water Bucket
Night leaks from the water-bucket.
A darkness flowing over
a bedraggled lily bloom
in the water bucket.

The black water is full,
you can hardly see the flower
only the moon shines in the water.

The large flower-head floats,
the buoyant moon keeps it
from sinking,

Night shadows drown
in the deep water.
Where the moon is not -
no water, no blossom....

Blink No 3
Jensen plays to the skinless drum
Ten chocolate soldiers melt down
by the campside
Platitudes of the night
crimson altar affairs preside

I have forgotten your face
wish i was a pram
under full moon
grateful to be the new born
like a newly hatched larvae

An urbane man chased by
bedraggled beagles
Forget the rest
cruelty at its own behest
treads to grey

Back In the Woods
A rainy hike following mud trails.
It’s a Cadillac ‘Fleetwood’
here in the back woods!

A car crumbling out of memory.
Layers of rust have layers of moss,
a film of bird adds a splotchy frost
to the crud.
Not many Cadillac bones are left,
just metallic tree ruins and
the verdigris of blight.

Tired, wet, and bedraggled,
I wish I could have pulled that car
out of the past
and driven it home....

The Date
Late for the date.
He entered the hotel
through its revolving doors.

Missing the right turn, the precise gap
in which to step forward,
he staggered rearwards onto the back glass,
then bounced, like a jack rabbit
into the foyer.

She, of course, coolly witnessed
this comic entrance.

When he sheepishly handed her
the crushed and bedraggled roses,
he knew that he was definitely not
getting laid that night
or possibly ever....
