Fingers tap so fast,
Bravery on backlit keys,
Faces stay unseen.
Sharp words fly without a thought,
Real world shrinks, courage fades.

Imagined Ugliness, the Unseen Enemy
Backlit by the moon she stands,
Proud to anyone watching
While "I’m too fat,” flawed thoughts
Silently stalk her

The light behind

Is not behind

Except in the

Conventional way..

If not behind

Separation stumbles

Paradox suggests

Not-knowing

Appearing as

Backlit..

Rivers are rivers

Again......

backlit and colored by sun

Asleep on an indian pillow

Girl with a boa

stranded on this scential island
will you use my intervention
whisper now to me
by the fire
loftily dreaming your sycamore thoughts...

inspired by pink blossoms
delicacy welcomed in rainbow cloud of hope

Reality Celebs
Their art is not less enticing
than a Renoir or Botticelli,
but the light of their charm is vacuous.
They love that backlit glow
if it highlights only upon them,
but that glitter is only a penumbra.
Goslings have more light
as they follow
a glimmer of imprinted blood.
Snails exude more illumination....

Desirable Dawn
Desirable dawn

Silhouettes, shapes,
  clouds backlit
   by a distant sun
  rising slowly
      in the east
   Cantaloupe swatches,
       painting introductions
    of a desirable dawn
  Draping the sky,
    illuminating my heart
       to a brand new day
                with you

Good morning Soupers...

Autobiography
Thoughts of prey
Heavy with mountains of anticipation
Free fall from the top
Into the vacuum
Settle among guilt lined clouds

My mind’s eye sees the hawk’s wings backlit
By light from branches streaked with blood
Don’t disappoint authority
Of dominance realized

I wrote a book about my life
When opened
A single hair
Grew from the first page...

Premium Member Seedling Sky
Drifting languid, light
upon the damp breeze,
the seeds of milk weed fairy fly
upon the aching air.
Snow white, weightless, dancers
skirts upturned before the coarser green
of velvet lawn they flee.
Backlit as virgin lovers
upon the meadow’s spawn.
The castle walls dare not belay
the upward loft with daunting gray
for on fragile wings in autumn damp
The world is full, a whorl in white....

Colors now shimmer in golden, backlit mist where blue hydrangeas and red roses coexist Purples and oranges adore a fresh morning. Flighty trouble has, at last, gone away, riled Since the mellow hour, my sunshine smiled The green and pink birds are finally soaring! Naturally, nature must love beauty so much To shower flowers with silver, gold and such Does pearly dew, gladden all of nature, too?

Premium Member Total Blackout
Eclipse of the disco ball,
a full floor drank that rhythm on ice;
Total Blackout;

Will they get out, CAN they get out?

88 Keys to dance on,
awash with a psychedelic trance;
Unable to shout;

Will they, can they, ever get out?

Each pair of feet moving
faster than the sound of the DJ;
Oh that soft pout;

Now there’s positively no way out;

 Backlit Solar sight,
 a beat you feel but can’t react to;
Total Blackout....

Premium Member Abstract Lady
Abstract mystery lady, on the burgundy museum wall,
Eyes in deep shadows, in her green dress at the ball,
Sitting lost in thought, of what no one will ever know,
As the moonlight mingles with her hair at the window.

Abstract stylish lady, her face a vague blend of colors,
No longer with the crowd, now apart from the others,
In a room of wild, color swirls and vague bright lights,
Both lady and night inscrutable, backlit by moonlight....

Premium Member I Am a Scrabble Head
The three letter words
like adz and avo delight me.
when you are a scrabble head like I am
you seek every spot to stick them in.

the skill is in connecting them.
They have to attach, which is the tricky
part. But learning all the two letter words
like jo, qi, bi, and za give it a bit of vim.

ow becomes row and then rowing
and vote becomes voter and then voters
you can play games all night now in the dark,
for your I-pad is backlit for playing him....

Sunset To Sunrise
I have to write of the Cape’s evening skies
Of apricot seas and swooping gull’s cries,
Light fading from gold to deep blue, bit by bit -
Table Mountains silhouette, hauntingly backlit
By hidden spotlights far above the town line -
The warm smell of fynbos, of kelp and of vine.

Silver moon pathways across the sea, starlit skies
A shimmering chorus of crickets’ cries
The sudden “chuck-chuck” of a guinea fowl’s warning -
The earth wheeling silently on her course toward morning....
