Hours pass, days pass,
eternities travel...
Life sings the same
old song...
Music of our lives...

Happiness-little bird released
that we still want to catch with our hands...
without the same skills...

Beautiful times that now we only remember,
between whispers and faded sighs...!

Saudade For Friends I Have Lost

Saudade for friends I have lost

as I get older
I lose more people
every year

more people I knew
have died moving on 
and I mourn their lost friendship

wished I had been 
a better friend for them
and knew them better

and with the corona virus
spreading around the world
I will lose so many more

in the coming year
as the virus spreads
its malignancy

All those talks we had, your breath smoky.
All those plans we had to someday meet.

And then I felt the fear turning my legs icy
while we climbed toward the sky’s craggy peaks.

Were you safe didn’t matter compared to gloom
and encapsulating castle with weird turrets.

I knew you by the peeled bark bared to bloody red,
all cork removed

Those painfully painless imaginative dreams of cloudless days
with winds whispering love's scent through new spring clover,
of walking barefoot through the glistening cool of morning dew,
listening endlessly to the song of your laugh.
If this is all I will have of you,
I shall know no grief.
