Draco (flourished 7th century bc) was an Athenian lawgiver whose harsh legal code punished both trivial and serious crimes in Athens with death—hence the continued use of the word draconian to describe repressive legal measures.

In moves of time and tides upon the Earth,
when leaner seasons came, tyrants ruled.
Such given power was destined at their birth,
and with their words they had the people fooled.

Food, jobs and money sometimes, often lacks,
allowing selfish souls to take the reign,
spewing draconian threats of dire attacks,
blaming scapegoat-others caused the pain.

The tyrant's plan is fed on strict control.
For a missing trust of people deeply dwells.
The hardened walls of this heart have grown cold,
as genocidal schemes of hatred swells.

We know of many a draconian face,
Mussolini, Stalin and Hitler - only a few.
History and time will bring others to replace,
and they will come with, hard hearts, all anew.

Draconian forces somehow don't last.
When things are unfair the people resist.
That is the lesson we've learned from the past.
Over potent power soon does not exist.

Premium MemberCherish The Time You Have Left

Cherish all of that which you have now,
For at the ends of all shared roads
Memories become tears below your brow,
Each event impelled by Earth's lunar nodes.

Cherish all of which is secretly promised,
For at the end of all of this journey of life,
You'll realize how you were always blessed
Even in darkest days of turmoil and strife.

Cherish all of what you once had,
For in the very end you'll see it all again,
Flashing through moments you were glad,
Realizing your light outweighed your pain.

Cherish all of what you desire now,
For there is only so much of the journey left,
Indulge, inspire yourself no matter how,
Enjoy the pleasures you were once bereft.

“creation is substantially nothing but a mere idea-play of Nature on the only Real Substance, God, the Eternal Father”
~ extract from ‘The Holy Science’

Ramana inquired, ‘Who am I?’
Strange it is, no one seems to know
We’re born in this form, which will die
Let’s find the truth in stillness slow

Senses look outward in the world
We assume we’re this body-mind
Lost in desires, we’re by thoughts twirled
The joy we seek, we fail to find

Watching thought spirals come and go
Dropping concepts, if we be still
Releasing cravings of ego
Voids within us on their own fill

Although thoughts cease, we yet exist
As pure awareness self-aware
No to-do list, we’re a bliss mist
Thus with heart of God, we so pair

Ego dies, space and time too fade
We then see our true form as light
At peace in God’s heavenly glade
Love’s imbibed to our heart’s delight

God alone is and we’re as He
He dwells in us and we in Him
That life is a dream we now see
Projected because of God’s whim

When thoughts cease, we metamorphose
Ego dies and we are reborn
Our Self glows in tranquil repose
Death of form is no cause to mourn

Premium MemberI Am Green

I Am Green

Sea-irises, overzealous.
Look in my eyes. Don’t be jealous.
This poet’s ebb and flow spotlight.
‘Til death do we part - my birthright.

By definition always green,
Under God’s umbrella; serene.
Attuned to forever-young-springs.
Forevermore learning new things.

A Poem of Praise

Praise Jesus Christ!
Who died on the Cross;
Without Thy great Sacrifice
We would all be lost.

From birth until death
You lived on this earth;
Enduring our suffering
To prove Love's worth

Though the sinners were many,
And the darkness was great;
You died to forgive us,
To open Heaven's Gates.

Not three days passed
And You continued Your Plan.
Freed the souls of Purgatory
Down to every last man.

Then You descended to Hell
To address the evil within.
Cast Satan into the abyss
Along with his shackles of sin.

You rose out of the tomb-
A sight to behold!
Your Visage was shining
Even brighter than gold.

After 40 days
You Ascended up high.
You departed from Earth,
As You rose into the sky.

From thence it was said
You would come again.
To Judge everyone
At the very End.

Humanity is selfish;
Ingratitude everywhere.
I bet sometimes it seems
Like nobody cares.

I know You probably don't hear this much,
But I'd like to say thanks
For all that you did for us,
So we might join the heavenly ranks.

The Mentor

"The more in science we advance,
The more do we grow," you say;
Still, Nature's love, abundance
Forgive us all in every way.

She lessons us to endure
Just like the green grasses do;
We, humans, can't all ensure;
We fail to remain pure and true.

Time's supposed to take all away;
She teaches all how to accept;
Rise and fall, the night and the day
Pass on, as per the global concept.

I can't breathe, I run, I run
In the lap of Nature;
"There'll be the moon and the sun,"
Tells me the Great Teacher.

Life must, must have turns and bends;
Life gifts us melody;
My frail heart now comprehends
There must be threnody.

Premium Member The Human Bond

2025 Poetry Marathon Mile 7'

The water inundates the houses and the towns.
Washing all the beauty to an ugliness of brown.
Homes are ruined, with memories loss, by heavy drowning-floods.
Nasty and distasteful times, swallowed, up in muds.

Yet, in all the tragedy, a bond of brotherhood is there.
A loving, sacrificial braveness permeates soaked air.
People stretch to take great risks in saving human lives.
And those within the jaws of death get chances to survive.

The love connection’s present wherever else one goes,
committed faith and caring in a world within the throes.
Heat, fires, droughts and earthquakes won’t destroy “the human bond.”
In all life’s throes of "ugly,” this bond grows ever strong.

When we behold a person save another from death's grasp,
they take upon themselves a risk that no one else can ask.
Such greater love had only ONE to offer up His life.
The beauty of this move to save is divine sacrifice.

Premium MemberI Know I'm Depressed

When all I want to do is cry?
Even while immersed in this high.
When all I want is to die
With little to no reasons as to why.

When all I want is to lie,
Say "I'm okay," so they won't pry.
When all I want to do is sigh
As I am aware her end is near nigh.

When all I want is to fly,
But there is no way I can ever try.
When all I want is to pry
The lock open, even as things go awry.

When all I want is to just cry
For as long as before she will die.
When all I want is to retry
My life, to resolve issues as to why:

Plant Taxonomy at the Cemetery

across the festival of grasses
I ran through the view of various booth and attraction
run by locals and those aged faction
along those sneaky foreigners with imprinted aliases

rolling my bike seemed to bother
with their necks closing in
leaning towards my upward chin
read as arrogance, instead as an evader

invader of their land
shattering their drinking glass
yet still manage to outclass humans
by using what's left of their decaying hand

it's pretty in my mind
thinking—I'll just pay a visit
not knowing my limit
until I arrived.

Premium MemberThanatos

He carried the stench of death upon him
so he had, from birth, and all knew but he.
All he met, unknown, sang a silent hymn
that he would not touch, so extend the spree.

Yet, he lived amongst them, as fate decreed
for those, caressed who had such little choice
turned to other deities to intercede;
they were not there, or did not hear their voice.

So death followed him, a pitying trail
across far distances, and endless space;
leaving a few, untouched, to mourn and wail;
that is the cycle of our human race.

enslaved to the cyclical void,
abused, confused, and paranoid
of that endless—(somber schema)—
cyclical void, enslaved to the?

sheer gravity and that friendless
somber schema.—Of that endless
wicked, whirling, said wanton wheel
and that friendless, sheer gravity

of motion which sent atwirling
said wanton wheel, wicked, whirling,
hurtling through hell? a meager twitch
sent atwirling of motion which

shook all things fused.—And all this spell:
a meager twitch, hurtling through hell

and all this spell-shook. All things fused,

Premium MemberI miss you so much

Close friends don't know the pain I feel
My broken heart can never heal
Your sudden death was long ago
The pain I feel, close friends don't know

I can't forget your dying breath
Was long ago your sudden death
To think of you makes me upset
Your dying breath I can't forget

Alone each night, I feel so blue
Makes me upset to think of you
To laugh or smile does not feel right
I feel so blue alone each night

I'm depressed, there's no denial
Does not feel right to laugh or smile
I can't be bothered getting dressed
There's no denial, I'm depressed

You're not there, there's no one to tell.
Hurry home to tell you, tears swell.
Life's so lonely, miss you my dear.
There's no one to tell, you're not here.

My world was all you, you only.
Miss you my dear, life's so lonely.
Trying to cope, still feeling blue.
You only, my world was all you.

The love's still there, gone is all hope.
Still feeling blue, trying to cope.
Our wedding bands meant for a pair.
Gone is all hope, the love's still there.

Cruel death parted, cant hold hands.
Meant for a pair, our wedding bands.
I'm smiling while broken hearted.
Cant hold hands, cruel death parted.

Premium MemberI See Her Eyes

I see her eyes, I hear her voice.
In gratitude, how I rejoice.
On grains of sand, below blue skies,
I hear her voice, I see her eyes.

Her gentle touch, her cheering hand -
below blue skies, on grains of sand,
she is alive - I know this much,
her cheering hand, her gentle touch.

You say just memories survive?
I know this much, she is alive.
If what you say is true, today,
just memories survive, you say?

Be that so, with this world, I'm through.
Today, if what you say is true,
reality has laid me low.
With this world, I'm through, be that so.

Premium Memberwhen death comes

When death is spoken
the word clings to the skin
like a heart, once broken
not knowing how or when

when death comes to call
the tears feel like the wind
stilling the spirit of us all
wondering how we’ve sinned?

When death is on the mind
there is a feeling of such confusion
might our time - life just rewind
was it all just a great delusion?

when death brings its shadow
and our hearts feel so alone
nothing we can buy or borrow
to silence the fears we’ve known

when death tells its story
there is nothing we can say
we’ll simply move to glory
leaving life, where we always pray…

for our lives to shine with love
for our purpose to be achieved
for our spirits to go home, above
leaving behind friends who grieved
