Pushing Poems

Pushing daisies

Bark, snarl, moan
DON'T howl at the moon,
howl into charcoal night
where darkness hunts the hunted,
Where consistency is metaphor
barking from the trees.

Tip toe, nibble
20lbs of everything,
but when is wolf more than just a sheep?
Or when ignorance asks,
" how do you feel? "

So bark
snarl
moan,
then snap!
HOWL into the moon.

    ~ The path of life is an inspiration - focus on the possibilities ~
                                      Quote by poet

    The challenges step by step
    Determination, an expression of will
    Even though the cold roams
    with its biting fangs

    Steadfast step
    Fearlessness, flowing through the heart
    with fervor and zeal
    Invincible source of power,
    as hungry dandelions

    Strikes of sunshine,
    heavy downpour
    A symphony of hope, growing and learning
    - journey of life is a chance to be brave

Premium MemberPushing Up Daisies

my mom’s not pushing up daisies
having gone to her eternal rest in Spring
her restful place is where her soul has gone
back to earth with its raindrop-moss
(springy, as if for a tiny bunny
or hallucination-size “wabbit”)
off track, the violet urn
next to the frame
that holds my mother’s face
and my attention
confused by the unscattered ashes
contained. she’s there
or elsewhere
or both ways
dizzy the thoughts
and my nephew
on and over a couple
mountaintops   where is he
particles placed, displaced
proper, improper
does it matter
it all matters
and the occasional shock
of a true blue viewing
passing by the other room
while relative remains
seem sentiments of denial
until a video snaps
you out of it
suddenly appears
the ghost
or a huge photograph
reminds you
why your there
in that chair
listening to the air
breathing

So this is where I'm bound to sleep

Just three feet wide and six feet deep

No shirt, no shoes, or even sox

Only me in my little box

So grab a shovel, lend a hand

And bury me in desert sand

I know that it's a boring job

Guess I shouldn't have robbed the Mob

Pushing Dead Daisies

The skin remembers, even when the mind tries to forget
Scars etched deeper than bone, a roadmap of agony
They say time heals all wounds, they lie
Time only buries them deeper under the layer of lies
I used to feel joy and sorrow, life danced with empathy
Now? A hollow echo in a vacant music hall
Hope, they ripped it out, tendril by bleeding tendril
Left a barren landscape, scorched earth where nothing grows
Callous they call me, emotionless, a monster forged in fire
They don't see the demons I carry or the ghost at my side
They see the wreckage of the person I once was
Before the darkness claimed me, before all hope died
This echo resounding with the ghost of all my screams
All that I still try to bury in the darkest part of my soul
Only the screams refuse to stay buried, pushing daisies
Ones that are already wilted and dead as they rise
Sadly it mimics us, sadly I am dead yet still alive
In search of the light, a light I know will never shine

Pushing

Pushing keep pushing
The nurse began to call
And out came into this world
A cute baby doll

Pushing keep pushing
A rock that will not budge
And soon your wiry sinews
Will have a nice firm bulge

Pushing keep pushing
For a deal that does not crack
One fine day you will hit pay dirt
It will just come like whack

Pushing keep pushing
For justice if you must fight
Just be wise to know which
Bullet you must let go and which you can bite

Pushing keep pushing
For life is not just about wishing
It might just be what is needed
When you feel something is missing

Foreboding of a tempestuous storm,
it blackens as it draws near,
a cumulonimbus in towering form,
extending to the troposphere,

So cast off mooring and slacken the line,
break free while there's still time,
'cause I'll pull you under if you don't let go,

Save yourself and abandon ship,
I'll take on water and sink too quick,
in gales of winds the swells arise,
these waves will break and so will I,

Roars of thunder and screeching wind,
sheets of lightning and pelting rains,
walls of waves will batter within,
until our stability wanes,

So cast off mooring and slacken the line,
untether your heart from mine,
'cause I'll drown us both if you don't let go,

Save yourself and abandon ship,
I'm taking on water and sinking quick,
in gales of winds the swells arise,
these waves are breaking and so am I

Almost eighty-nine and life's still a blast
How long will it continue, how long will it last
Pushing the odds
Testing the gods
Will I still be around when one hundred I pass

Quiet Now

You sit there rocking,
no more people talking,
drifting with the wind across the grain.
It’s peaceful like you planned it.
No one make’s demands it’s
quiet now and every day’s the same.

It’s a shame
that something pure and free,
became a ball and chain tied to misery.
Like an island separate from the land,
the waters made you miss the life you planned.

So you sit there rocking,
the voices that once talked to you have all…
withered away.

Was it the hardness
or something in your veins
that never let hold the things you own?
Just like you sip black coffee
but hate the taste,
you block the world away
but hate to be alone.

Such a shame
that something meant to be,
blinded you to what you could have seen.
Now you know
what you were looking for
was just a winding road toward a closing door.

So sit there rocking
with no more people talking,
drifting with the grain...
whichever way the wind blows.

Pushing the Button

Practice the pause. When in doubt, pause. When angry, pause. When tired, pause. When stressed, pause. And when you pause, pray.” —Toby Mac

~~~~~~~~
A movie runs on.
In a high tower
a facsimile of your open eyes
burns through a celluloid strip of film.
A pinpoint of heat
made a hole -
It burned through perception.
A sentient hand reaches out
from mindfulness,
it punches a large button
set at the back of a seat
in the back row
of a movie theater.
The running-on - stops.
You sit back a spell,
re-light a lamp
you had kicked over
in your hurry to keep ahead.
A spool of cooling reality
unwinds,
forming a jumbled heap
on a cutting room floor.
Once again you recall,
that paused living-space,
that prayer room
you could have entered
at anytime.
Pushing Back On Fear
October 22, 2023
Miracle Man
In a heart that’s trusting the Lord,
fear and defeat can’t live for long.
When I can’t quickly forget something,
I push back on negativity.
I can choose Him instead of self,
for God is in control of my life.
Something was often hidden,
among thorny situations I endured.
Pushing Daisies
Pushing daisies
This Saturday has sadness in the summer clouds
feel I ought to go home, don’t know why?
A place I have not been to for fifty years
I dismissed the thought as sentimental trash
Is It!
When my dog died in an accident in Faro town
I drove through a rainy night to bury her
Where she was born
Felt it was my duty to her
Was it!
As a modern man, I know it doesn’t matter
Where we die, the soil is either dry or damp
If there is a longing to rest under turf known
Has it got a meaning, or is it soppiness?
Is it!
The body that died in a foreign land
Will not fertilize the soil of one’s homeland
Is it not irrelevant where the death occurred
In the enormity of forever?
Pushing Iii
Pushing the liquid, pleasure deep
into electric veins n wires
feeling the rush of white light
burning out
all fading imagery
searing memories
all neurons fire
transcending transforming
pushing beyond the cold n dark
feeling the supernova
blossom of fire in brilliant liquid divinity
deep within electric circuitry
& silicon desire
rush of fire
pushing the liquid
the liquid pleasure
deep into my spires
feeling it crawl up my spine
the becoming of white
understanding undefine
what never was
never seen, serene
all a wash in electric light
a hum of quiet, a machine
Pushing, pulling,
transcending, transforming
All are suspended
into the cold, bright infinite supernova
reflecting in the eye of the beholder
Pushing Ii
Pushing past fear
Pushing past obligatory oblivion
Pushing past this pain's sphere
Trying to feel things never felt before
Never know or seen in darkness desires
Trying to be all I can be
Pushing past the burn
Pushing past the sweat
Pushing past the point of no return
Looking into the abyss
Feeling it look into me
Looking over the rainbow it ends indeed
Pushing the thorns of thought
Pushing the crimson petals into lashes
Pushing the stitches of delicate twine
Seeing the finite infinite fractals
Knowing the coming desolation
Seeing the son go supernova right over your shoulder
Pushing past the last daisy
Pushing past the filagree
Pushing past the crazy
