Hear the vendors at the game
driving loyal fans insane
“Peanuts, popcorn, pretzels” they shout
With my friends and me, they all strike out
Pretzels come in many shapes,
Like rods and twists and sticks,
Some with salt and some without,
Depending on your fix.
I’ve tasted some with honey
Or with onion or with cheese
Or those peanut-butter filled ones,
Which some fans will surely please.
There are jalapeño pretzels
For the snackers who like spice
And now mini pretzels line the shelves,
But here is my advice -
If you think too many pretzels
Might just end up on your hips,
Do not worry, for they are
A lot less fattening than chips!

Still Life with Cheeses, Almonds and Pretzels
Still life, not stillborn,
With a woman’s face
In dusky background hues,
Pure clarity clothed in white,
Gazing on gastronomic abundance.
Artist of the banquet
One step behind –
The woman’s place of her time -
Guardian of the sweet rewards
Served like bridal wine,
Topping the earthen vessel
Of embryonic fermentation.
In a cradle of fine delft
Consummated almonds,
Mellow figs
Ripe fruit
Conceived out of ravenous rapture
Confinement released in harvest’s fare
In signatures of arms crossed -
Daily bread – gifts of finest wheat –
Served with golden curls,
Crushed seeds of grain
Birthing beauty’s fullness.
Above this feast of still life
A woman smiles
Her signature waiting to be discovered –
Waiting for the invitation to emerge
From the shadow!
Pretzel Poem
By: Bryce Husband
The perfect, none filling, bite size snack, perfect for anytime lounge,
Goes with any drink and has its own unique flavor with its own texture.
Perfect to take with for traveling, and a eat on the go snack,
The amazing addictiveness when eating just one makes you grab more.
A healthy alternative for unhealthy chips, that you can’t get enough of,
My without a doubt favorite snack that I crave for every day, pretzels.
Peanuts and pretzels
always go well with our beer.
Let's have some right now!
Standing alone in a festive crowd,
silent tears falling
to
the
ground
amid
the
gaiety
rising cheerfully loud
Twisted emotions is a troubling soothe
When out of the corner of your teary pout,
you notice her
compassionately looking at you
Then she comes your wintry worn way,
and offers a warm and gentle snowflake hello
Such butter sweet kindness
melts the pain in your pretzel heart
Still, she goes one step above
the Good Samaritan royal standard
of delivering cherubic wingspan comfort
She taste the salt of your suffering
with her naked fingers
Ungloved ... her bare hand
feels the long cold
settled in the hope shortened pulses within
She delicately senses that
you’re fragilely hanging on to the joy of living
And she intuitively knows ... with a frosted eyelid twinkling,
you’re in desperate need of a lonely holiday saving friend
Someone who will patiently hear the leaven fears,
and help tenderly
with the cordial unbending
of a sad, winding path —
Sorrows fraught with tears over the frozen years
Between evening and bedtime
Night is on the prowl for pretzels.
A rest stop break and next to us
A group of German folken.
The universal language
Filled with gestures soon was spoken.
Perhaps a food tour? All were
Apron-clad and eating lunch
And drinking wine and laughing
As they'd sip and talk and munch.
My husband shrugged and pointed,
Meaning, What? No food for me?
A laden plate and glass of wine
Were offered instantly.
Our bus mates wandered over
And the party did expand
As giant German pretzels
Found their way to every hand.
You just need one brave soul to cross
The line and break the ice.
The payoff may be food or smiles
But either way, it's nice.
P.S. To keep the record straight,
Both licorice and hazelnut
Gelato found their happy way
Into the pathways of my gut!
There is a bakery on Federal Street.
What they produce there is certainly a treat.
You can smell those pretzels baking inside.
The pleasant aroma permeates far and wide.
They are a deep brown color with specks of salt.
The taste would make anyone hungry want to halt.
So if you happen to be around South Philadelphia way,
be sure to pick up some of their soft pretzels today.
i can't see my destination through the snow,
but i push on towards the horizon, because i know
that it's there
and i know i will reach it.
every finish is a starting line.
i keep that in mind
as i mind my addictions.
i have a prescription for anxiety i call 'stress less'.
i'm supposed to take it every morning,
but sometimes i forget.
Wat bier en krakelingen zijn de enige dingen die we nodig hebben om een goede tijd hebben.
Some beer and pretzels
are the only things we need
to have a good time.
jalapeño pretzels & the adulation of small things
munching jalapeño pretzels,
savoring a cup of coffee,
taking a moment to enjoy the way a cardigan you’ve had for years
feels
when you throw it on for the
255 thousandth time---
these things, these small (and what may seem to others as being irrelevant details of life)
but more than precious tidbits of life
are what keep us unique
and what keep us grounded to a physical reality
which makes sense to us
personally---
as conglomerations
of habits & happenings,
things & theatrics,
each one of this species in the present
anthropocene
walks this planet with the experiences that they have had
tattooed across their face &
as much as you moisturize, rubbing away those
crow’s feet
your life’s work is embedded in the conversations you have
and the admiration & appreciation of the
little things
create a comfortable warmth that you don’t have to
defend & a library of
wonder that isn’t obligated or forced upon
us by anything but our own desire to
enjoy a life of freedom
or as close to this as we can get,
constantly,
interminably,
insisting on more of it.
why pretzels do not eat us
why pretzels do not eat us
eye opened up the pretzel bag and much to my surprise
they grabbed me and began to pull me deep inside
eye lurched and jumped to no avail as munching then begun
the pretzels in my bag was eating me the fun had just began
they laughed and giggled and had so much fun
eye am not an ogre by any means
eye let the pretzels have their way
for they were just eating me
so when eye come up missing just find an old worn out pretzel bag
and then look deep inside
