Life is one messed up ting

I've Given Up

I’ve given up on chasing stars,
On mending scars with broken jars.
The weight of dreams too far to reach,
Has stolen words I used to preach.

I’ve given up on morning light,
On battles waged in endless night.
The fires once burned in my chest,
Now smolder, silent, laid to rest.

I’ve given up on hope’s cruel song,
A melody that played too long.
Its promises, a fleeting breeze,
That left me kneeling, weak, diseased.

I’ve given up on looking back,
On counting footprints in the track.
Each step a burden, heavy, gray,
That led me further, led astray.

But even here, within this fall,
Where shadows rise and silence calls,
A whisper stirs, a breath remains—
Perhaps I've given up on pain.

For in the ashes, cold and still,
A seed might sprout, defy the will.
Though I’ve surrendered, broken through,
It seems the world won’t give up too.

Premium MemberA Rainy Walk Home

Walking home with my best friend,
Umbrella resting o’er both our heads,
Wondering, will the rain never end?
Dressed in darkest blues, never reds.

Umbrella resting o’er both our heads,
Plodding along, thunder softly rumbling
Dressed in darkest blues, never reds.
This day, the gentle rain, is so very humbling

Plodding along, thunder softly rumbling
Secreted beneath the cover of the umbrella
This day, the gentle rain, is so very humbling
My best friend is so kind, such a good fella

Secreted beneath the cover of the umbrella
Rain pelts the pavement as we trod on home
My best friend is so kind, such a good fella
Even though it’s quite gentle, it’s still noisome

Rain pelts the pavement as we trod on home
Wondering, will the rain never end?
Even though it’s quite gentle, it’s still noisome
Walking home with my best friend,…

Sealed with a kiss –
Our union is a circle;
Love, Laughter, Friendship
In motion centripetal.

Our union is a circle;
That ring of passion
In motion centripetal
Is neverending.

That ring of passion
Given unto us in prayer
Is neverending –
One vow, Two hearts.

Given unto us in prayer:
Love, Laughter, Friendship –
One vow, Two hearts –
Sealed with a kiss.

Premium MemberSilence Blesses Us - a Pantoum

silence blesses us

life is not a quiet experience
ever the friendship of heartbeat
the rush of blood in our veins
and the din of the blustering world

heartbeat ever our friend
it measures out our days
the din of the blustering world
counterpoint, inner and outer

heartbeat measures our days
we must turn inside for silence
counterpoint of outer and inner
it is under, beneath, and prior

turn inside for true silence
trust the big field and rest there
it is under, beneath, and prior
never touched nor seen nor heard

trust the big field and rest there
solace for our broken, sick world
you can’t touch it but you can be it
rest in the silence that blesses

life is not a quiet experience
the rush of blood in our veins

Premium MemberTransparent Hearts

Revealing sacred moments, rare and sweet
Fostering new blessings, makes life complete
With someone who will understand and care,
Transparent hearts being hearts that share.

Fostering new blessings, makes life complete
Richer, fuller the life of one who so befriends
Transparent hearts being hearts that share
With openness and clarity friendship blends.

Richer, fuller the life of one who so befriends
While trust is nurtured through confidentiality,
With openness and clarity friendship blends
Lives of purpose, purity, and mutual morality.

While trust is nurtured through confidentiality
With someone who will understand and care,
Lives of purpose, purity, and mutual morality
Transparent hearts being hearts that share.

Premium MemberKind Gestures

Show a gesture of warmth to all you meet
Offer each one the least- a pleasing smile!
A kind gesture can give others a new start
Geniality generates joy, creating a comfy feel

Offer each one the least- a pleasing smile
Many wallow in gnawing despair
Geniality generates joy, creating a comfy feel
Mend their hearts which need urgent repair

Many wallow in gnawing despair
Lend your ears to what they have to say
Mend their hearts which need urgent repair
When you listen, their frustration you allay

Lend your ears to what they have to say
Having no one to listen is the greatest bane
When you listen, their frustration you allay
By patiently listening, their anxieties, you slain

Having no one to listen is the greatest bane
A kind gesture can give others a new start
By patiently listening, their anxieties, you slain
Show a gesture of warmth to all you meet

Robert

dear Robert, much-loved friend of ours
intellectually gifted
reciting Bellman Songs for hours
radiant and with voice lifted

intellectually gifted
you lacked the talent to survive
radiant and with voice lifted
you left this world with forty-five

you lacked the talent to survive
too much fervour, too much wine
you left this world with forty-five
ignoring you were on the line

too much fervour, too much wine
farewell scene with long smile knowing
ignoring you were on the line
you went and left us plenty owing

farewell scene with long smile knowing
reciting Bellman Songs for hours
you went and left us plenty owing
dear Robert, much-loved friend of ours

Premium MemberHappiness Comes To Those Who Cultivate Friends

Happiness comes to those who cultivate friends
Mapping out a future, knowing their destination
Do not fall victim to freakish fads and trends,
Taking life as it comes without undue hesitation.

Mapping out a future, knowing their destination
They never seek approval from unsavory thugs
Taking life as it comes without undue hesitation,
Find comfort and peace in warm, caring hugs.

They never seek approval from unsavory thugs
Living the good life filled with pleasures galore,
Find comfort and peace in warm, caring hugs
Always taking the time to adventure and explore.

Living the good life filled with pleasures galore,
Relishing good relationships with their family, too
Always taking the time to adventure and explore
Adhering to cherished values, avoiding the taboo.

Relishing good relationships with their family, too
Do not fall victim to freakish fads and trends
Adhering to cherished values, avoiding the taboo,
Happiness comes to those who cultivate friends.

Premium MemberMickey Loves B Ball

Mickey plays basketball in his free time,
He has a very cool slam dunk as well.
When he is shooting hoops, he feels sublime.
As Minnie watched him play, her heart would swell.

He has a very cool slam dunk as well,
Him and his gang would play ball on weekends.
As Minnie watched him play, her heart would swell,
He enjoys hanging out with his best friends.

Him and his gang would play ball on weekends,
When he is shooting hoops, he feels sublime.
He enjoys hanging out with his best friends,
Mickey plays basketball in his free time.

My Birthday During Covid

MY BIRTHDAY DURING COVID

The laughter’s the same
my forty-fifth year,
with a softer refrain
for the birthday song.

My forty-fifth year,
my coworkers gather
for the birthday song,
ten-person skeleton crew.

My coworkers gather
six feet apart,
ten-person skeleton crew
extending beams of friendship.

Six feet apart,
their eyes shine
extending beams of friendship
across the social distance.

Their eyes shine
as their song floats
across the social distance
through sun-filled windows.

As their song floats,
I remember this refrain
through sun-filled windows
by friends for birthdays past.

I remember this refrain,
missing the warmth of hugs
by friends for birthdays past
like ribbons on gifts.

Missing the warmth of hugs,
I still bask in gazes and smiles
like ribbons on gifts.
The smaller chorus is clearer!

I still bask in gazes and smiles.
With a softer refrain,
the smaller chorus is clearer.
The laughter’s the same.

Premium MemberThe Words of a Dove

Animals can teach about love,
for different species can bond;
how about this monkey and dove,
we have a bond that goes beyond.

For different species can bond,
the great and the small from all lands;
we have a bond that goes beyond,
does not matter if wings or hands.

The great and the small from all lands,
we are inseparable friends;
does not matter if wings or hands,
and so people pick up your pens.

We are inseparable friends,
how about this monkey and dove;
and so people pick up your pens,
animals can teach about love.

they are fools let them squabble and fight
but we do know how to love and share
we will do what we feel is just right
we depend on nature to take care

but we do know how to love and share
our instincts are pure and innocent
we depend on nature to take care
we donot cheat but play it decent

our instincts are pure and innocent
we follow the plain rules of jungle
we donot cheat but play it decent
we chat, play and easily mingle

we follow the plain rules of jungle
we will do what we feel is just right
we chat, play and easily mingle
they are fools let them squabble and fight

Unlikely Friends

Friend, find solace next to me.
Let me be a warm embrace.
Share your troubles and be free.
Our silver linings, we shall trace.

Let me be a warm embrace
when your sorrows chill to bone.
Our silver linings, we shall trace,
your tattered heart, together sewn.

When your sorrows chill to bone,
come rest your cheek upon my wing.
Your tattered heart, together sewn -
an angel’s feathers, I shall bring.

Come rest your cheek upon my wing,
share your troubles and be free.
An angel’s feathers, I shall bring.
Friend, find solace next to me.
