Premium Member Morning on My Porch

weird bird sound
variation of a squawk whistle
it is camouflaged
no idea if this creature is from here or another planet
a gray moth lands on my pathetic-looking dog bed
she puts her wings together

I hit my hands together hard
trying to kill a mosquito
I miss

two bees hover
I hope they are honeybees
they are tiny so I am optimistic
they are not; they are bumbles

someone’s lawnmower is humming
Not the farmer next door
His is louder
the bumbles are walking across my porch
this seems odd
they are usually flying

who who who who
an owl?
not quite a hoot
whatever it is, it sooths me
nothing as wonderful as a morning on my porch
with a cup of coffee and a puppy

Lines Composed a Few Feet Outside the ICU August 28th 2025

There will be time enough later
To explore the undiscovered country.
Stay with me a while yet, on these familiar shores;
Let us continue to gather, together, what sweetnesses that are here to be had,
For without you, there are no sweetnesses

Square Peg, Round Hole

Catch them when they're young
and shape their tiny minds
by telling them to colour
inside the lines
kids are our precious resource
nurture their dreams for the future
break them on the wheel of control
and kill the spirit destroy the soul
conditioned at an early age
they'll be at a loss
when they're told to think
outside the box
complicit in your conspiracy
avoiding confrontation
it's not a guiding hand
it's manipulation
you can't squeeze a square
peg into a round hole
they are who they
are it is what it is
can't pound a square peg
into a round pigeon hole
let them be and mind your own biz

outside the open window,
petals hang like whispers,
dainty eyelashes fluttering~
a soft ballet in the arms
of the zephyr

Premium Member Cloudy Outside

 I remember with clarity
and such clear vision,
I was four years old,
and was being shown
the first time in this,
old house of bliss,
I chose my bed-room
by the street's road
window open
to birds and bees.
Spring's air smelling
Now its
my prison
as I'm scared
of the outside.
I wish to be me again
and not the grains
of loss of friends
and family,
the sand pours
without haste,
slamming doors
and this I created.
I haven't left the house
for a straight
18 months.

Premium Member It was nine degree outside in April

It was nine degrees outside in April
In the chill of a dreary April day,
I find myself wandering through the dimness,
My eyes were straining in the absence of light.
As I approach the door, a sense of familiarity washes over me, pulling me back to a time of comfort and solace.
The thought of retreating to the inviting embrace of my warm bed beckons me like a gentle siren, contrasting sharply with the biting cold that surrounds me.
In this moment, I realize that in this vast expanse of uncertainty, there is only one clear path to follow—one that leads back to the refuge of my blankets and dreams.

Outside Viewing

As I sat on the patio
The Airplanes are passing by
high in the Sky
Birds are flying high
The wind is blowing periodically
The weather is humid
Peaceful moments again
A great scenery within
Moments of relaxation
From all of the chaos
A renewal of concentration
Thinking of a great vacation.

NOTE: Sometimes we just need that peace of mind from all of the chaos.
For the atmosphere to be great and full of Joy, not negativity. ONLY With positivity and love.
Therapy for the soul.

Premium Member Outside Our World

Our true world is what we know best
Yet leave our safety to explore
What more is there beyond the crest
Outside our world

Within, we know that there is more
And made to follow this, our quest
With never knowing what's in store

We leave our comfort zone with zest
Which takes us to another shore
And find it only when we test
Outside our world

Last check before the parrot was taken outside

I forgot to add tomatoes to
the beef.
And I was told to put a 1/2
Of white grape juice in the
Broth with an additional
3 T of crown royal
and to omit the horseradish.
We added one teaspoon of
Anchovies oil to the mayo
and crumbled in some sun
dried tomatoes.
That should be the show!
Sweet banana peppers to
do the thang!

Premium Member THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX

Today’s blessing goes out to all those who think outside the box
for even a second, an hour…one a minute….
for those who never think outside the box…
will be forever living in it.

Premium Member Outside The Box

Heard the term “outside the box”?
What box are they referring to?
Sitting in my jammies at my computer
Don't see no box, do you?

A term you hear a lot these days
What can it possibly mean
This old guy is totally confused
Totally betwixt and between

Catch phrases have always confused me
Prefer simple Dick and Jane words
So all us grandpas can decipher them
This stuff is sure for the birds

Maybe I'll get an old cardboard box
And sit me therein for a while
Then emerge and start thinking of stuff
In a clever “outside the box” style

Really that's not at all what it means
Heard someone say emphatically
To go where no man has gone before
Think a lot more erratically

Now confused much more than ever
Think I'll lie down for a while
Till the world spins a few more times
And I get back my winning smile<>

Safe inside these walls

I *gate* my heart, my *jewel*, my happiness
in the *shadows* beneath my chest
Outside they *mutter* about dangerous games
But I'm no knight, I don't own no shield
and my heart? it's broken already,
I don't need a prince to lie to me
my parents are enough to show me '"love"

Premium Member From the Outside

I can see you by the window from the outside
Squinting, smiling through the sunlight
You could see me in the corner of your eye
But I'm miles away from the sight
What’s the news, how is your blood glucose
How did you sleep last night
You can’t hear my voice I suppose
You’d appreciate how hard I have tried
You don’t hear me, but I can see you
All your worries are over and done
On the leaves glints the fresh morning dew
Garden flowers bloom out in the sun.
