You would think I would learn after all of these years,
After all of the times I would end up in tears,
But the voice is so sweet whispering in my ears…

And you’d think I would know, happens time and again
Not a matter of if… always comes down to when
And the way it turns out is how it’s always been…

It’s so crazy to think t’will be different this time.
It won’t happen again. It’ll turn out just fine.
Just don’t give it a thought and ignore every sign…

But I want to believe and I just want to love
And to live out the life we are all dreaming of.
Then it hits like a rock falling from high above…

When I follow my heart it just leads me all wrong
And I get torn apart like in a country song
I can hear my head screaming, “Look out! Can’t you see?!?”
Still, I jump every time my heart says, “Follow me!”

Nigh, My Heart

—A Sonnet of the Unlosable—

The knots our words had wrought no hand could loose;
we drew them taut, yet they drew us more near,
till silence, cinctur’d close, became the use
of all the words our tongues had perish’d here.
At dusk the watchman’s staff struck fire from stone.
One iron syllable went through the lanes;
“Night hath no covenant with sleep alone.”
The dark pass’d on. It kept its watch in veins.
When lips grow ash’n, and speech itself is spent,
I’ll find thy wrist; my fingers shall retain
the quick, small thunder of thy pulse, content
to beat beneath my hand through night and pain.
Thou think’st some war shall make thee leave mine eye—
Nay, close mine eyes; thou’lt still be there, not I.

Your love froze my heart

The wintry water isn't cold anymore,
I could bear its tremor.
The silent breeze; it's chill,
Taste blissfully calm
But your love frost my heart.

Let me take my step back
I could stand you no more -
This pain ceases to stop
And I couldn't live a breathless life.

Your love weaved like a season -
And I stood like a sturdy oak,
The gentle breeze, the roaring waves,
I sipped them all - stood still unmoved.

Like a longing bird - carved a cradle
Within my heart, soft and warm,
Yet you wouldn't sit nor feel them -
Is this how destiny weaved our souls apart?

My love isn't worn out nor the spark dead or gone,
Yet I wouldn't flame it bright again -
The pain's too much - when love couldn't reap.
Let it sit like a dying ember, never sparkle again.

Footprints in my heart

You came into my life without a sound, with out a word.
I was speechless
Butterfly speeding around, you gave me footprints in my heart.
You stepped in , never asked a word, you spoke, never thre out a hand to that on-broken heart, that you left foot-prints all n over.
You came into my life with a broken heart, you was sinking and you was pulling both hearts withbwith both foot prints ..
You gave me foot prints all over my heart and never cared enough to let go, and save me !!!
Why ?? I'll never know or understand why ?? You came into my life and lifted foot prints all over mybheart.

Premium Member My Heart is a Universe

My heart is a universe filled with levels of pain
that beckon me to darker realms of my mind
where I agonize in a silent sadness
    that has pierced my soul
as I feel the warm unmeasured number of tears
slowly falling onto the earthen ground
from hands cupped, on my drenched face

From the knife that cut through my heart
with its sharpened edge of betrayal
to reveal my tear-soaked heart
spilling emotions of pain dripping
    from my anguished face

Desperate to find understanding
from a heavy reality of burdened emotion
carried from the stone filled fields of yesterday
to the lonely landscape of the heart's dead

Where I with my heart, will fall
    in the terrain of sadness
as my heart crumbles into dust
to be scattered by a cold wind
    into a void of darkness
that has shrouded the light of my soul
to leave me as an empty husk of bitter goodbyes

Premium Member Hardened My Heart

Hardened my Heart

I tried to be soft hearted
warm, funny and kind
but it never ever worked
for this old heart of mine

So I hardened up my heart
learned to be more tough
knowing I was never ever
going to be enough

Love I never found
it never came around
I was used and abused
so I stood my ground

I gave up on the life
I thought was for me
I hardened my heart
and it felt more free

‘You get what you give’
and I gave a lot!
a saying not true
so now I’m not soft

Love passed me by
dealt a raw hand
A loveless life
not what I planned.

The Two Lights of My Heart

My wife gently asked today,
My daughter smiled beside her,
My heart quietly found words,
Love filled both gentle eyes,
Truth deserved tender expression always.

You are my life's companion,
She is our living blessing,
You built warmth within home,
She filled days with laughter,
Without both I am incomplete.

One heart holds two rhythms,
One sky carries two stars,
One lamp shines two flames,
One melody sings two voices,
Both illuminate my entire soul.

You are my enduring strength,
She is my brightest tomorrow,
One nurtured every dream,
One renewed every hope,
Both complete my existence forever.

Love cannot be measured equally,
Hearts never divide affection,
You both are life's blessings,
Two names within every heartbeat,
My whole world lives together.

My Heart Turns Traitor

I wasn't ready to fall in love
didn't have the time
something inside turned on me
it sold me down the line
wasn't going to fall for love
I couldn't take the chance
my feelings got the better of me
and sold me on romance
didn't want to deal with love
it wasn't in the cards
emotions took a hold of my reins
they sold me to the stars
because my heart turns traitor
when you're around
my mind is made up
but my heart lets me down
and like a Trojan horse
inside the citadel
my heart opened up to you
and I fell

My Heart Beat

The time we look into each other’s eyes
The feelings between us rise
My heart beat skips at once

Premium Member my heart in hostage

trapped by your lies
you hold my heart hostage
throwing out the key

Forgive Me Lord.

My heart feels heavy, filled with pain,
I know I’ve stumbled, failed again.
I didn’t mean to cause you grief,
But Lord, I long for sweet relief.

Forgive me, Lord, and make me new,
Shine your light, my soul renew.
In your mercy, I will stand,
Safe forever in your hand.

Beneath the darkness, lost the sun.
I seek your grace for all I’ve done.
Your love is kind, your truth is near,
You wipe away my every tear

Take my sorrow, take my shame,
Lift me higher in your name.
Through the storm, I’ll sing to you,
Faithful God, forever true.

Hole In My Heart

Even though you didn’t intend it,
Your words were bullets,
That tore right through me,
Putting holes in my heart.
You’ll be 49 miles deep into Georgia,
But still light years away from me,
I’m back to being alone,
But I don’t want to be.
I thought I finally had you,
But now I watch you leave,
Nothing but a pair of tire tracks,
And fading taillights.
As you dropped the ball,
Blood starts to flow,
You still hold the smoking gun,
That blew a hole in my heart.

Where My Heart Dwells

Beyond the deep of my imagination
And from anguish of soul,
This love of mine knows no boundary
Endowed emotion as whole.

Within my heart lies a sea of Amity
Full of devotion, calm and bright,
Gaze of mine remains bound to you
Your glimpse of joy fuels its light.
