Linus Poems

Linus Pauling

Embrace uncertainty
Living in timeplace where you are
Degree of the certainty
Isn’t that far

Now you perceive world around you
Out of Plato’s cave
Don’t let these bound you
Stop being slave

But neither become master
However you may object
This isn’t a huge disaster
People have right to reject

Integrable systems suggest
Health is about digest
Electrical engineering
Resistance to change protest

What is this circuit that makes
Life of the people so bound
Sense and point awakes
Each day is another round

Each person has own feelings
They can’t feel the emptiness
These are orange peelings
Orange gifts us happiness

Premium MemberWell, It's half past September

Well, it's half-past September.
Autumn and Fall are having their annual jurisdictional dispute
As to boundaries and length of contract.
The leaves are either burnt, flaming, a-flame,
Blushing, scarlet, rosy, rusty, reddish, or foxy.
The pumpkins are waiting for Charlie Brown and Linus to show,
The Witches Coven Convention will convene at month’s end.
The flowers are retreating, slowly, each hoping to linger
Into one more warming sunrise.
A few diligent honey bees wait to greet them.
School buses hunt for unwary children.
Books bid them “come, join me,
Let us travel past the crusted cover into the realm of the imagination”.
A thin crust of ice will soon silence the pond.
September, caught between the aura of Autumn and the fire of Fall,
Smiles as its gentle breezes call the tune.

Premium MemberCharlie Browns Christmas Show

The honorable Charlie Brown’s Christmas show is a stable in my house
As welcome as “not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse”
Linus’s blanket was used to help the tree look prouder that day
I anticipate the personalities of characters as the story line gives way.’

Lucy is as arrogant and bossy as every overbearing cousin I had.
Schroeder’s piano-playing prowess makes the melody seem glad.
Snoopy gives his best performance in this show every single year.
Pig-pen, the dust-magnet has no other phobias to fear.

Franklin, Sally and Linus all have their individual parts to play.
I anticipate their personalities, there is Patty, so merry and gay.
When she calls Charlie Brown Chuck, there is a fondness felt in my heart.
Charlie Brown’s Christmas Show gives the holidays a wonderful start.

The Great Pumpkin

The Great Pumpkin Emerges For Dark Dreamscapes

The great pumpkin emerges
From the pumpkin patch
Sees her devoted fan
The little boy Linus
And his dog Snoopy.

Who is the only one
Who believes in him
As dogs often follow
Their owners everywhere
The most devoted fans of all.

The great pumpkin is a beautiful woman
She is the cousin of Satan
And emerges on Halloween night
To cause terror among the world
Inspiring madness
Among her demented followers.

She smiles at Linus
Says she will reward him
For his loyalty,
Linus is transformed
Into a tall handsome young man.

A “criminal: lawyer
Representing Satan’s business interests
The Great Pumpkin becomes his lover
As Linus conquers the world
Ushering in the end days.

With the Great Pumpkin by his side
And snoopy
Now a big German Sheppard
always following behind.

Three Scientific Clerihews

I.

The great Albert Einstein
Would appreciate a fine wine,
And after sipping a little
He would play upon his fiddle

II.

The legendary chemist Linus Pauling
Found the hydrogen and atom bombs appalling,
And after winning one for chemistry he would not cease
Until he won another Nobel Prize for peace.

III.

Madame Marie Sklodowska Curie
Was just as famous as could be—
Amidst the fin-de-siècle pandemonium
She discovered radium and polonium.

“He’s here! The great pumpkin, my dear!”
The silhouette of Snoopy sears.
Sister Sally is befuddled.
In the dark a little mud-dled.

a singing barber raises his voice to sing
beautiful songs that make the hair take note
cutting round the ear
dadaism heeds, as
each falling hair sings down to the floor

fabulous songs from Pavarotti brings
glacier eyes against a miserable grump
here is your hat Mister Linus
I wasn't trying to be mean
just wanted your hair to have a good time !

Orange In My Pocket

When I arrived I brought with me
an orange in my pocket
it warmed me nearly, as my girl
her picture in my locket
providing me security
like Linus and his blanket
it cleansed me of my awkwardness
its scent wafted about
helping me to feel at peace
once I took it out
its orange glow provided strength
in a chilly world
just like the warmth I felt
back home with my girl
it transformed my imagining
dead trees came to life
the fruit it bared
that I held dear
I gave it to my wife
a chance to strive
our drama free from strife
red is fine, yellow too
it's better when they meet
blending in a fruitful whirl
my girl is orange sweet

Charlie Brown offered his pal Linus
Food that Lucy said was the finest
She said it was Hummus
Charlie you’re the dumbest
Good grief, that stuff came from her sinus

Peanuts Charlie Brown's Snoopy

My favourite comics is the Peanuts strip
Featuring 'good grief' good old Charlie Brown
Reading it takes me on a pleasant trip
Especially when Snoopy is around

Charlie Brown's faithful beagle is Snoopy
They get along with each other quite well
He can be sneaky when he is ready
Yet, just when and where, you can never tell

When Linus, in one hand, holds his blanket
The thumb of his other hand in his mouth
Snoopy sneaks in, suddenly grabs hold of it
Then runs around, spinning him all about

Yellow Woodstock is Snoopy's feathered friend
He bounces up and down when he's flying
On Snoopy's friendship he needs to depend
He alone knows what Woodstock is saying

Snoopy flies off in his Sopwith Camel
To the skies to battle the Red Baron
They both engage in a fearsome duel
Each trying to outdo the other one

Snoopy dances around when he's happy
If Lucy is close by, she must watch out
He would dance up to her very closely
Lean over and then kiss her on the mouth

POEM FOR A LOST BROTHERMAN

Yo brother man
There is something
You need to understand.

Mama said to me
They drowned her pappy’s pa
Who actually jumped overboard
To be free;

Said papa was found hanging
From a China berry tree
For being uppidy;

She said pop was shot in the back
For being a strong proud
Militant black’.

Now just look at you;
Sitting sniffing shooting stuff
Like you don’t know what else to do;
Convinced that life is just too "tuff" for us.

Com’on brother, throw away that blanket of Linus!
Or do you still prefer to be less than zero?
Registering on a scale of one to ten, nought minus:
The branded number given to the long lost lethargic *****.

Linux - By Bob Atkinson

Linux
    - by Bob Atkinson

Linus had a vision
of that which percolates
upon the scene of tradition
giving wheat grain at the gate

to better the community
by effort of the hand of man
wherein we all accumulate
repayment for our plans

he sought that which one sees
in visions traded for
efforts of the skills obtained
on all the foreign shores

no matter who we are in our
simple lives of quiet revision
we do our individual part by
coding commerce for his vision

whereby the info flows down on
a matrix of delight
accomplishing our harder tasks
as if by a quill pen's light

Linus kept it simple
no greed carried within
let the others steal from man
his objective was to give
