Lightbulb

Akin we are to Lightbulbs,
but not as may be told;
for creativity and Eureka! —
are dreams that can be sold.

We invite them their Control,
and hand over our souls;
prov'd that subtly they may embark,
and Switch us —
Bright, or Dark?

So closed our eyes will be,
whilst openess to “see”;
The circles that enclose us?
Makeshift insincerity.
Joyous as we've become,
electricity cannot run —
less so in the Dark days,
when we're left with merely crumbs.

Yet even with eyes open,
I find that it's too late,
as every word that we absorb
hits more than a mistake.
How I yearn for a new Outlet,
the farthest and unplugged,
Then trepidly I'll live the Light — in Darkness and unloved.

Lightbulb

The air writhes for a funnel.
The wind tunnel is unusually special.
Quick sell a landfill a prequel.
Befell death knell in a clam shell.

The lightning bolt on a beach.
Thin glass forms from the impact.
A firefly trapped inside signals his family.
Goodbye.

The Lemon Yellow Lightbulb

You left at the first flicker of dawn
as the pioneering rays of Sun
diluted the chaotic dark of night
and the morass of words exchanged.
I would have, if not for my dead legs
followed, at least crawled
but you had gone before, and returned.

Dragging my cold body toward the switches
I should have considered you lost,
but time is an endless breeze
that blows over the ghosts of steam
avenging that which our tempers kill,
and leaving in its wake, just the regret
of those two words that needn't have been said.

I should have considered you lost
even as my stomach rumbled in angst,
silenced by the cool dread of the sight
of the idle lemony shade on the doorway
without a singular shadow to break it
nor even your voice to let me know
I shall have you with me tonight.

Premium Member When the Lightbulb Moment Came

Sadly she sat
all alone in her chair.
Once Family had left,
there was no one else there.

The tear from her eye
was still wet on her cheek.
She wiped it away.
Her future seemed bleak.

A thought came to her
of what she might do.
An interest it was
that she could pursue.

Before that one thought
she would fully embrace,
a wonderful smile
had lit up her face!

Invention of the Lightbulb

It was Edison In a lab
Gave night its noon.
He bottled up all he could
Of that hour's boon.
And washing walls the world over
By volt overseen
Moved the sun to frankness;
"My auxiliary sheen!"

Lightbulb Thoughts

A ceiling lightbulb blew and hark!
I needed to replace it.
For reading in the semi-dark?
I knew I couldn’t face it.

I found the bulbs and had to climb,
While worried about falling,
Up on a stepstool, taking time
So not to end up sprawling.

Removed the old, screwed in the new
And checked if things looked brighter,
Not knowing then, as now I do,
‘Twas fodder for a writer.

And thus, a topic for my poem,
When life’s not too exciting,
Is often found within my home,
With lightbulb thoughts alighting.

Lightbulb Road Recycle Project
Thought up by Wiz Kids
Improvement Central

Sealed lavishly by Engineers
Who were acting like
Old-School Nay Sayers

Freshly graduated architects
thrilled with the beauty of their sparkling masterpiece
Begged Governor to cut opening ribbon

This would put their state on the map!
Governor not as happy, after spending an extra six hours here
Replacing all four car tires

Changing a Lightbulb

The lightbulb blows; we sigh and groan.
I’m sure that we are not alone
In being bothered by the fact
That age has made us slow to act.

The ceiling fixture’s eight feet high
And vigor is in short supply.
My husband fears that he might fall;
His balance he trusts not at all.

My shoulder aches, so reaching’s tough.
It’s hard to turn the screws enough
And if the globe is not on tight,
We’ll step on smithereens all night.

We manage, though, ‘cause I refuse
To ask for help and so I choose
To wait until I’ve jumped the shark;
I may just do so in the dark.

Lightbulb

Am at a point in my age
Where i ask myself
What am i doing?

I've spent majority of my life chasing dreams
Through thick and thin
Through nook and cranny
Up and down the turbulence of life

I've spent much of my time
Playing cards
Sharp spades have left scars
Heartful lovers have left twinkling memories
Diamonds have been my greatest wins
And i've been part of many clubs
But not the king and queen kind
And don't ask me about the jokers

It's life's solitaire
Maybe i should ask, who am i playing?

Sometimes am always in a checkmate
Hearing those words have made me a clown
But again, who am i playing down?

So now i begin playing to be not but to be

Her crack was heard many miles
Now the lightbulb has gone off

The Lightbulb

You are the one who gives us light.
You help us read by being bright.
To empty our rooms of the dark.
To even brighten up the park.
Many use you every hour.
I don't like to waste that power.
You've helped to fight the dark of night,
but sleeping I don't need my sight.

Lightbulb

The extreme fisherman
Hangs upside down
Delivering snow
Traded for straw
Confused about its job

New planet in the cube
Growing twisters
Ancient time tools
Downward rhymes
Falling up high

Magnetic ice
Draws liquid from your eyes
Look up and try
Ideas with no sand
New state of matter
Won’t be there for long
If the newcomer glows

White heat from the moon
Cloning breakfast talk
Ticking on the wall
Umbrellas on the floor
Embrace the flash
An throw it all the way back
Into the source
