light fingered lightbulb thief
stole all our bulbs, which gave us grief
lucky we had a stash way beneath
some still worked, which was a relief

Invention of the Lightbulb

It was Edison In a lab
Gave night its noon.
He bottled up all he could
Of that hour's boon.
And washing walls the world over
By volt overseen
Moved the sun to frankness;
"My auxiliary sheen!"

Premium Member manipulated by a psychopath

her confidence was brittle
as fragile as a lightbulb
her abuser had been an expert
manipulating and destroying
ruining the confidence of a remarkable woman
what joy could there have been in this transformation?
not being a psychopath, we could not relate

Premium Member To Be Cured

The sun lit up the leaves
Like a lightbulb in the trees
As they flickered in the breeze
Nature danced to please

Peaceful sounds could be heard
Along with a happy bird
A musical concert without a word
Calmed the stress, to be cured

Lightbulb

The air writhes for a funnel.
The wind tunnel is unusually special.
Quick sell a landfill a prequel.
Befell death knell in a clam shell.

The lightning bolt on a beach.
Thin glass forms from the impact.
A firefly trapped inside signals his family.
Goodbye.

The Lightbulb

You are the one who gives us light.
You help us read by being bright.
To empty our rooms of the dark.
To even brighten up the park.
Many use you every hour.
I don't like to waste that power.
You've helped to fight the dark of night,
but sleeping I don't need my sight.

Berry Picking At Night

Sometimes
At three AM
On my fourth redbull and my second coke
When the dumbass on the conveyor belt put the bin in backwards for the thirtieth time and I want to kill him

I watch the bugs gathered ‘round the lightbulb
And think
At least I’ve got more time than them.

Breathe

When the life you lead walks away with you
Running fast at a pace unknown, unpredicted
Flashing past and dashing dreams.
Have hope in calm
For calm will come in the buzz of a lightbulb
The crash of a plan, the change
Perspective shift electricity.
Look down and breathe

Football Fish Part 2

Waves flush my face.
I can’t go to sleep without thinking of
what comes after and what happens during.
I can’t stop crying and I can’t sleep, either.

I wish I were a football fish,
lightbulb atop my head forever.
Guiding the way for me no matter
how dark it gets underwater.

Premium Member LAST LIGHTBULB

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the attic’s dust, a filament glows~ one last gasp of tungsten defiance. Shadows crowd like hungry crows, but the bulb hums its lone science. A century’s worth of swallowed dark spits back, bright as a struck match’s spark.
He Wants To Be A Man
Lord this boy is bright
as a ten-watt lightbulb
well, he needs some home-schooling
to properly integrate himself
into our society
Lord, don't send this boy to hell
take the gun out of his hands
please give this boy a chance
Oh Lord, don't let him drink
from the poison well
just because he wants to be a man
Daft - Happy Chappie
Happy Chappie had a lightbulb brain wave
Thinking his idea some time he would save
Usually when he went out and about
He forgot his way back without any doubt
Thought if I butter well my outdoor shoe
I'm sure to retrace as good as new
Unexpectantly he had a good ride
Whooshing along on his sole slip and slide
Dream On, Dream Off
Dream on, dream off,
set the world on fire just to put it out,
climb your mountain today to fall back down tomorrow.
Dream on, dream off,
from in front of a bull to behind a desk,
from a driver’s seat to a pit-stop pedestrian.
Dream on, dream off,
the lightbulb fades all too easily,
to become the moth to the bigger flame.
Premium Member everything goes into a puppys mouth
he’s a puppy, everything goes into his mouth
piece of paper, spiral notebook, birthday card, screwdriver,
glass lightbulb, copper spring, nail gun, jewelry,
When we hear his teeth clicking we try to see what he has
He runs from us
Fishing it out is not an option
He has super large teeth
We have to trade him something
Premium Member Our Brains
Our brains become somewhat rutted
Running constantly within the same track
But let someone confront with deeper wisdom
Then our lightbulb can be turned back (on)
For some it would be easier to run a mudslide
Back up the slippery slope of time
Than to get the brain to light up and burn
From new ideas, knowledge to absorb
Premium Member madcap or madbrain
would you rather be madcap or mad brain?
I really don’t know replied the choo choo train.
Next, they asked a Hawaiian field of tall sugar cane.
Mad cap, I guess, in case there is rain
We made fun of the researchers, called them insane
Until they included us, and paid us cash, plain
Would you rather be madcap or mad brain?
I said this to a lightbulb, spider, and windowpane.
Lights and the End of Tunnels
The light at the end of my tunnel was merely a lamp plugged into the wall; sitting juxtaposed on the hard cement floor. I took a seat next to it, letting my skin absorb it's small cloud of light. In my head I knew that eventually this lightbulb would burn out, and leave me in the dark. But it was a reminder of how good it felt to feel light on my skin...so I stood up, and I kept walking...
Shadows of My Leaving
I cast down the trenchcoat past,
Shrug it's weight onto the floor,
Step the lightbulb uncertain
With ginger steps towards the door.
And a final glance shot
Over one shoulder or another,
Lingering looks and visual hooks
Snag the fading of a lover.
I draw her symbol to me
So I may kiss the shadows
Of my leaving from her brow,
And whisper that my heart
Will be with her again...somehow.
Premium Member Who Invented the Motion Picture Camera
who gets the credit for the lightbulb, Dad?
Dad scoffs, easiest question he has ever had
That is Edison son, Thomas was his first name
Ask me again, and I’ll tell you the same
What about the motion picture camera, who invented it?
Dad is bamboozled now, but determined to not throw a fit.
His wife? He guesses, making his wife smile in her cutest way.
Edison dad! yells the child, who runs out to play.
