The Path of the Banker

In endless rows of ticking screens,
Where numbers dance and cold light gleams,
He spent his days in hollowed time,
His heart untouched, his soul confined.

Contracts signed with vacant eyes,
Chasing wealth beneath gray skies.
The clink of coins, the shuffle of files,
Left no joy, no genuine smiles.

Then one day, a scent of bread,
A baker’s voice, a warmth it spread.
The crackling crust, the simple cheer,
Brought back a life he’d once held dear.

Not in ledgers, nor in gold,
But in the stories hands once told.
The baker’s laugh, a kindled spark,
Lit his way out of the dark.

He left the desk, the rows, the grind,
For something real for peace of mind.
He found the truth in acts so small:
That kindness builds where riches fall.

For life is more than balance sheets,
It’s in the warmth of those we meet.
The banker’s tale, a lesson clear
True wealth is found when hearts draw near.

At the End of the Day

The voice within, a whisper bruised,

Fights the noise the world has used

To carve a man from primal bone

To cage the beast, to leash the lone.

The mind, a mat where wars unfold,

Instincts wild, but nurtured cold.

They tame him not with chains or rods,

But with applause and wooden Gods.

He wears the mask, rehearsed and tight,

Performs by day, forgets by night.

Painted smiles, a jester’s role

Each laugh, a wounded soul.

Temptation hangs like a golden fruit,

But plucked, it tastes of ash and soot.

He dances for a wage, a name,

A line in ledgers, rank and fame.

Rituals rot in daily spin,

A prayer to clocks, a suit for sin.

Validation, the new divine,

Poured like wine to numb decline.

Frustration bubbles, seeks escape,

But lids get screwed in human shape.

No scream escapes the echo’s hold,

The cage is warm, the bars are gold.

A one-way street with silent bends,

From cradle’s cry to coffin ends.

And what shall grace his stone in sleep?

“He lived to please. He died too deep.”

The Knower Inhaling

Be leaved
In your redemption
As whole
Leave is unworthy
Of spirit
Usual day
Ends of spittle held
Under nectars perch, hast child as babe
Layed beneath wounds crown?
Neither beckon of blankets coldened ease
Wells, as slavic despondent ledgers
Nor, blathering distinct indemptions buffet
Break winds towards lightnings laughter

Premium MemberShrinking and Shrinking

Shrinking down now,
With each passing day,
Figures fading,
Slipping away.

Diminishing slowly,
Bit by bit they wane,
Until just,
Numbers remain.

Sitting on pages,
In ledgers and books,
Only a trace remains.

Diminishing,fading,
Almost out of sight,
Reduced to mere digits,
No longer alight.

A Financial Phantom,
Once bold and so clear,
Now just a number,
Devoid of all cheer.

Accounting's faint echo,
A numerical scar,
Vanishing softly,
Quiet and far.

Hallway

Hallway

Things the upstairs hallway desperately needs to
make her feel like a
hallway include:
jugs of
water with a
hint of
lemon and
sarsaparilla (yuk!), heads of
asparagus, afros, viruses (non-
life-threatening
only), accounting ledgers, human
toenails, frog
farts, TV static, nautical
caps, half
rainbows, a
cat – any breed will
do – meows, stamps (blank), bucket of
courage, two hand size steel
blocks, Ag chemical silver shavings, hair strings (chimp
only), dice x
10, white feathers of
any white-feathered bird, angel
pubic hair (men’s only), Chinese buttons, and
fly eyes.

Premium MemberLost

Dreaded was the dawn
dawn's morning light,

every dawn a spotlight
on my perpetual night

nowhere to hide
if not for the shadows between
all star gazing not for glitter
and beam --

just to close my eyes --- escape into
dream --
-----------------------------------------

but God is with us
no matter how far our travel,
whether clear heights
or cloudy towers of Babel --

He counts not
our battles, nor makes ledgers of sin

only seeks
a sliver opening
for His Christ
invited in.....

Gilgamesh O’Malley left his home in Fermanagh
With dreams of steaming plates of Irish stew.
He ate his last potato last time Sheamus paid the rent.
Since then, there’s not been very much to chew.

The lords of the Ascendancy express paternal care
By flaunting all their privileges of wealth,
While tenant souls like Gilgamesh subsist on gospel words
Unsuited for the maintenance of health.

The famine’s grip was guaranteed by what was done to help;
The landlords’ ledgers chronicled events.
The mighty Earl of Lucan and the rest lived absentee,
Their middlemen kept busy squeezing rents.

So, Gilgamesh O’Malley left his home in Fermanagh,
And climbed aboard a packet ship in Cobh.
He authored his own epic as an immigrant at large,
To brave the flood and find a decent job.

Gilgamesh O'Malley left his home for foreign shores.
Should the Fates condemn your destiny, his fortune could be yours.

We Want An Orchestra

The organization makes a package
With questions and answers forms
And videos to be used at
Engament parties.
My cousin Madder told me
He and one of the actors
In involved with one movie
Said some sciences looked
Like thong commercials
While others were borderlines
Religious. He favored the ones
That were sports related.
It is said to be done to involve
Audience to the wedding
The flock of the religion
Respect to both families
Don't let your audience become
a crowd.
Inclusion and how much involment
Both parties will allow
Drama vixens and Comforting Dudes
And Soothy Rubrite are not invited and why.
Why it is important to involve certain people
And why exclusion of some should be considered
The package contains documents
For receipts and invoices.
Ledgers for
Caters
Dee Jays
Clothing rentals and
Purchase
Gas allotments
Video
Scripts
Cheers
Prayers
Offerings of congratulations
Best ways to gift
Explainstion of exclusion
And
Inclusion
Using respectful words
And phrases
The movie is so good
You can watch it like
A regular movie

Premium MemberResearching Your Ancestry

Digging through old ledgers seems a drudge
But searching for long-lost ancestors is fun,
The LDS Church can give you a helpful nudge
For they have records on almost everyone.

Dim documents in out-of-the-way courthouses
Include dusty old ledgers of marriage licenses,
You can discover names of parents and spouses
If you can spare time traveling long distances.

Good information comes from grandparents
Who may possess a well-documented Bible,
But, don’t underestimate your own parents
Close families tend to be exceptionally tribal.

It’s fun learning the exploits of your ancestors
Relating them to your understanding of history,
Far back you could be kin to some court jesters
You never know what you’ll find in your ancestry.

Premium MemberMy Cynical Career - Insider Cherry

I spilled my seventh cup of coffee
While shuffling through the papers on my desk.
It was a ham and cheese performance,
A little bit of business-like burlesque.
I sort through tax returns and spreadsheets,
Deciding what to shred and what to keep.
The numbers flatten my perception.
It’s hard to tell the shallow from the deep.

The market parodies the weather,
It’s sometimes paradise, and sometimes hell.
It takes a fortune teller’s insight
To know which stocks to buy and which to sell.
I go to trade shows and conventions
To bust my hump establishing rapport.
To get that sweet insider cherry,
I give good face and put out like a whore.

But it’s so sweet insider cherry,
Just so sweet insider cherry
Can provide me with an edge.
When investing in the future,
Need to guarantee the future with an edge.
That’s my pledge.

I take fiduciary gambles
To profit from a fickle fiscal year,
And plot inventive navigation
To dodge the rocks and shoals that interfere
With my relentless and creative
Chicanery within the corporate sphere.
I keep a second set of ledgers
That chronicle my cynical career.

Premium MemberHot In a Careless Way

I’m hot in a careless way,
Like a barn fire, or a stolen Mercedes.
I’m the B-side of a 45
That never got much air play
Except at the request of lonely girls
Sitting home on prom night
With thin slivers of moonlight
Slipping through their drapery
To caress their disappointments.

I’m an organ grinding gypsy,
A vendor of cognitive provocations,
Subliminal symbolism,
And academic totems.
My vagrant delinquencies
Have accustomed me
To settle my accounts
With handy lay about cash;
My ledgers are always well balanced.

So, when I need a little bodily love,
When I need a little bodily love,
Yes, when I need a little bodily love
I summon that sylvan nymph coven
Of nubile forest vixens
To witch their carnal spells
With dirty talk and tongue lashings
That cleanse my insecurities
And teach me the usefulness of emptiness.

Premium MemberUniversal Bayonet

crowded poppy field cover the trenches

red crowns hide bone meal and sculls

abundance disfigures the pain

and yet Field Marshall and Tambourine Major

demand endless encores

as if another take would enhance the applause

while puppets on war strings scatter engraved

on tombstones and grief devastated and soulless

march on and paint the white flag with blood

because innocence is not for the fainthearted

honour and glory will grant you a medal

for posterity to cherish instead of your smile

the markets will take stock and wrap human remains

in balance sheets for you are merely

a number on ledgers and history’s accounts

a fallen hero on somebody else’s sword

Atlantic Cogitations

The Atlantic and her hissing,
Puncturing beyond ears to listen,
Her roar awakens creativity,
Her mind opens all activity
She births knowledge

The Atlantic and her known song,
Cascades ledgers and clefs;
She rises deeply with her surge,
With echoes unending as she hit shores
Her tuneful melody welcomes gaiety

The Atlantic and her ravishing view,
Revealing truth beyond sight
Her edges are borderless
Her curve is endless
She is life in its entirety
