Kicked Through

Knock knock I kept knocking at addictions door
Each knock feeling as if only they were knocked

Days turned to weeks with little to no progress
I kept knocking at the door so well locked

Failure after failure I became its expert
I’ll try my elbows at this door so blocked

Do I ask for help or do I seek wisdom in thyself?
I throw my whole body at the door only to get mocked

One day I tell myself this door will loosen up
I try to knock softer in this never-ending deadlock

6 months go by I begin to stop myself before blackout
Still the door remains but it doesn’t seem so landlocked

Another three months I dwell in shame
Turning to prayer I fear God sees me as King of Gawk

Faith is all I have left to throw at the door
Then one day I no longer feel mocked

Finally a year later later I regain my goal of goals
Persistence and faith finally made this door unlocked

The Day I Kicked The World

I kicked the world lay at my feet
the wrong way down a one way street
I kicked and kicked and didn’t stop
until I reached the paper shop
and thought my journey was complete.

Between the headlines of defeat
Liverpool's team was in retreat
hearing the call from Jürgen Klopp
I kicked the world.

My dad leapt up out from his seat
with terrace chants I won’t repeat
reality began to drop
legging towards the mighty Kop
only the goalie left to beat
I kicked the world.

Premium MemberKicked To the Curb

There she lies, all bruised and bleeding.
She always gets up.
There's no conceding.
She'll never comprehend the reason.
Was it too easy because she was seasoned?
Another's strong emotional reaction kicked her to the curb.
Now she's in traction.
A broken system in the dust.
Whom can one truly trust?
Regardless how cloudy some days seem to be,
the sun will break thru eventually.

Premium MemberTime Kicked Me In the Back

Time took a running start and kicked me in the back
Breaking my C-2 Vertebrae. No biggie.
I have had worse. I take a swig on my cig.
Neck brace? Sure. Why not?

Time slams a Chevy into the back of my car.
Breaking numbers six and seven in my back.
Time is kicking my ass this month I guess.
Luckily, my neck is already broken, so win-win for me.

Time gives me osteoporosis and shingles.
Two things I never realized I needed.
The benefits and joys of being seventy.
Come get me time. Give me your next best shot.

Premium MemberWe Plan To Get Kicked Out of Music

The art substitute teacher kicked ten of the seventeen sixth graders out.
The principal was beside herself. She brought four of them to me.
Could you play a game with them or something?
These four were not kicked out.
They are usually such clowns, the teacher didn’t even “try them” with a sub.

I played three or four games with them. We had a lot of fun.
So much fun they brought me two more sixth graders.
During this game playing one of them informed me of this:
“We plan to get kicked out of music on Friday so we can come back.”

Friday might be a problem. We are using the library today.
Because the librarian only comes on Thursday and Friday.
Obviously, we cannot use it on these days.
My office only fits about two people, me and a pencil.
I rack my brain trying to figure out how I can fix this.

Premium MemberKicked In the Jewels

Pretty sure all you guys can attest to the pain
Kicked in the jewels, bad words you exclaim
Totally collapse
Prefer death perhaps
Eyeballs roll and you lose bits of your brain

WHAT I’VE KICKED OFF MY BUCKET LIST.

Kicked off to do’s before I knew,
the term called,” Bucket List.”.
What we teens termed, “chasing our star”
”our dream” or … our heart’s “wish.”

With twenty -five bucks chased dream, from
Georgia, New York, on a train,
Chasing dream involving fashion,
chase little piece … of fame.

 “Times” Classified Men's ad. answered,
interviewed by Vice President.
Didn’t get job, we’re fifty years wed,
glad on interview …went!

Christian Dior my design used,
next a New York award.
Georgia’s Woman of Achievement”
humbly … thanked my Lord.

In Macon, Georgia I started
“First Fridays” events here.
Through namesake, Joycine’s Art Gallery”
my art and others … cheer.

Deathbed promise made a best friend,
poetry publish and write.
In “P.S. Anthology,
a bucket wish … delight.

My Bucket list greatest, check off,
was my son Paul's birth.
Of all awards received in life,
God’s gift… greatest on earth!

Premium MemberKicked Me When I Was Down

When you were bitter
Callous and unkind
Jumped to conclusions
Content to misjudge
Made a game of being cold
Wouldn’t give the time of day
Or offer up a cup of tea
Swept me off like crude debris
I wish I could say I rose above
And walked away without a care
That it didn’t hurt me to be snubbed
By you~ my most unlikely bully
You took me by surprise
I never saw it coming

George Jefferson Got His Butt Kicked

When everything was said and done,
Tom Willis kicked the crap out of George Jefferson.
George continuously called Tom's son a zebra and Tom was fed up with it.
George was rushed to the hospital after Tom Willis snapped and had a fit.
He kicked George's butt and made him eat the floor.
George decided not to call Tom's son a zebra anymore.
George had Tom thrown in jail for assault and battery shortly after the fight.
Now the prison guards are calling Tom a zebra because he's wearing stripes.

(This poem was inspired by 'The Jeffersons' TV show.)

The Surgeon Kicked the Cat

Operating room. From under the table- "Meow!"
The surgeon kicked the cat- with a gently stroke.
The cat start begging much more loud.
The surgeon said- "Well. Take it. Choke!"
He cut off something and threw it on the ground,
The cat gobbled it and pleased, at once went out.

Kicked Around

Kicked Around

The football game was over the players had gone
to the changing rooms, the winning side talked eagerly
repeating themselves endlessly while the losing side
was subdued silently blaming the goalkeeper.
The football itself the one they all chased was left on
the field and it was raining, it had been kicked so much
it was rather breathless and now it was getting cold,
it bitterly thought I`m round without me they couldn`t
play proper soccer but would have to use a rugby ball.
The lonely ball hoped a boy would come pick it up and
take it home to his room; his mother would shout telling
him to clean it he promised to do so but didn`t.
The boy must be a studious type enjoys doing homework
and the ball is tired of the sporting life.
