big eyed owl
all puffed up
tormented by wind
whistling tree branches
tick tock of clock tower
dog wolfs himself up
identical black cat howlers
tug of war
puffing
spurting
spitting
sneaky skeleton ticks and tocks
clicky clacky clicky clacky
whoo whoo whee whee
bouncing skeleton head
diabolical music
villain dance
four smart ass skeletons
ring around the rosie
five-year-old jig
cartoon music
pogo sticking
rolling jack hammering
playing dah bones
piano spine
clunk on dah head
weird laugh
violin cat
playing sassy silly skeletal scales
caw caw caw caw
damned rooster!
Out of earshot from the
Howlers and yowlers,
I'm surrounded by the
Aroma of trees.
Mean spirits begone!
Gloom and doom?
Sorry no room.
Lifted to a shore,
By Mercy and Grace,
I will search no more.
Done is the chase.
When the sun has left
And you are a failure
And all is lost
I parade around
Hoping you will look up
Trying to change you from your sad self
to your most fabulous philosophy
If you are determined to study your feet
I am at a loss to help
Luna does not howl you see
Yet wait.
I could call my howlers.
They are coming now. I hear their yips
Uh-oh.
Too much.
Too frightened, you run away.
Never seeing what I could have done.
So I keep my optimism and hope
A bit longer
Waiting for the right victim.
Dragons with their brimstone throats
burned millions
before bursting into combustible myths.
Did we once make fire
or did the fire make us? Burning,
burning, burning
until ‘forever’ became extinct, became
smoke behind the ramparts of heaven.
More burning, torching the sub-human heart
into almost human pieces,
making our blackened ancestors,
(our little thumb-opposing howlers),
shed their burning skin,
revealing a mollusk of intellect,
a shellfish without a shell
exposing its wriggling thought
in that shedding. The burning
filled our eyes,
we saw the fire, its flinty roots,
we grubbed for those roots
made them bloom, made the flame.
Then full of a holy zeal
we made a great war upon the world.

Plan B up your sleeves saves the day
When your main plan on its knees flounders
Your hopes and aspirations led astray far from their hope ray
In the midst of howlers and blunders
Plan B if better thought out
Better articulated
Bereft of the gout
Inherent in Plan A sometimes poorly insulated
From presumptions and assumptions sometimes too simplistic and unrealistic
Diminishing chances of hitting the bull’s eye
In a manner spectacular and fantastic
Straying in a cul-de-sac sty
Which Plan B benefitting from deficiencies of Plan A remedies
Clearing pipelines of hurdles
Sometimes engendering and yielding comedies
In the middle of girdles
Paves the way for achievements of Plan B
To work like a magic wand clockwork
Executed in a hive of a zillion bees at the majestic command the queen bee
Issues to get drones and other members of her swarm towards guaranteed success to work.
Here's some homework howlers,
By hilarious pupil terrors,
"An octopus has eight testicles."
Did I read that with my spectacles?
"Mozart sailed to Vietnam." For how long?
Why is there a clavichord in the Mekong?
"Rome is now in Africa." Do tell,
Didn't you learn map-reading too well?
"Mummy and Daddy's fave place is bed."
Do your parents really want this read?
Are these mud-coloured glasses, or what?
How did I survive teaching this lot?
It's hard to take them too serious,
Homework howlers, hilarious!
My costume makes me look fat
And I lost my witches hat
I can’t find my broom
It’s not in the room
Now where’s my lucky black cat
An unfortunate man named Keith
Mislaid his set of false teeth
Tried apple bobbing
His jaw was throbbing
Poor guy can’t get no relief
I love eating pumpkin pie
My tum is big its no lie
I pick up my spoon
Then I start to swoon
Feel sick and I want to die

Football
A new dawn has come
He showers and puts on his lucky tee
Sits and waits in his lounge chair
Times has come
He kicks and runs
Catches and tackles
His blood pressure goes up
All from his recliner chair
He cheers and howlers
Rants and raves
Dammit!!
Yes!!

many passed by this crag today
to see where the dying soldiers lay
moaning, bleeding, crying for their mothers
perpetrators, victims and all the others
over glazed eyes malevolent with murder
stealing strangers lives like burglars
the honor, the horror, the howlers all
killing the killers, silencing stalkers
and now, the silence is deafening
sensed distant past, a hard reckoning
"'tis good", was said, "that war was hell" *
those of first-person know all too well
the pinnacle of human atrocities
yet we continue on, our selves to please
to wage, to wear it, to glorify
why we're willing, to kill and die
white marble now looms row upon row
to mark the rest of those lain low
and obelisk's and stacks of cannonballs
center places where the battles evolved
ironically we assert that we're civilized
there's a truth we stoically won't recognize
what can be changed to make this not so?
that it's we in the fields where the poppies grow #

The rain forest mists
Drift in their time
Leaving moisture so pure
On nature sublime
In collective gather
On the canopies of green
As i walk through these mists
All around me scene
I stand there and listen
To natures sounds
Howlers and Toucans
In communication abound
My hands brush a leaf
And there's a scurry of legs
Like neighbourhood chaos
In books i have read
I close my eyes for a moment
A brief in my time
But when nightfall beckons
This is their prime
Through the rain forest mists
I am privileged to see
These wondrous creatures
No pressure, so free
