Robert Sherriff - Political Landscape

The political landscape is ever-evolving, and the events of January 12th, 2025, underscore that even seasoned politicians can falter. For Trump, future achievements will hinge on adopting innovative approaches, emphasizing meaningful policies, and promoting unity over division.

He whimpers who ere roared

Internet mania, a double-edged sword,
Prez campaigns, fun nor frolic can afford,
Memes may make huge buzz,
But few votes for the fuss,
Fans may turn sudden foes,
And goodwill sooner goes,
Look at Trump, he now whimpers who ere roared.

Poet’s note: kamala Harris may have turned a phenomenon, or rather a ‘feminomenon’ at present to command a lot of fun and froth on social media. The question is would they turn into actual votes in November? One hopes, she does not become a victim like Hillary Clinton. Prez campaigns cannot hinge on coconut jokes.

The dawn when dawns

Drowsy dreams when wake up with life,
Dawn breaks to light from nightlong dark,
Birds sing when to welcome first spark,
Skies turn when from grey to red-rife,
On trees when I see tender leaves,
New hopes sprout in my unsure mind,
My doubts when a new address find,
Hope a new hinge on which life lives.

When dawn dawns, hope takes deeper roots
A hopeful heart finds a new voice,
The human will a winning choice,
From tender raw, ripen new fruits.
A dawn dawns with a band of hues,
Each of which with a choice of clues.

Night's ethereal rumble boosts the soul.
The light from her eyes twinkled on his palm.
He was reaching his breath range as a bull
Night's ethereal rumble boosts the soul.
A faint star flash beat - tinkled on her whole.
The hinge on the crimson star is his psalm.
Night's ethereal rumble boosts the soul.
The light from her eyes twinkled on his palm.

Wind Blown Eyes Wind Blown Ties

My second wind of honesty
Renewing vows with poetry
Honestly, something's calling me
Telling me
All the things that hinge on the precipice of destiny
Hug me please,
Hold my knees
Wiggle doubt and grant me peace
That will ease,
Every ounce in me
Pour me tea,
For an eternity

Premium MemberTouching Fate

Pieces of heart
Bleed on glass shards
Memoirs now start
Verse from sad bard

Line by line tell
As feeling surge
Pain seems to dwell
On some odd verge

Verse in stern fit
Cuts sharp and deep
Loss of bold wit
Hits where tears weep

Touch in plain strokes
Hinge on brief binge
Pain knows to poke
On edgy fringe

Feel the damp air
Where sad turns bad
A losing flair
Prompts anger mad

A forlorn face
Loiters with sketch
To plunder place
In futile match

Come to know truth
In anxious form
As if to proof
A dying norm

Too soon, too late
That dying moan
Fear claims due fate
With final groan

Beware a Dream

When I do dream, I find a well,
Where all the dreams would mix and swell,
A treasure store of hope I find,
Possibilities undefined.

A dream is a thing, but yet, ‘tis not,
At best, it’s nothing more than a thought.
Except for when the dreams come true,
And that is up to me, to you.

We write our dreams within our hopes,
We cling to them like they are ropes.
Our dreams inspire life again,
But crush us, bringing woe and pain.

A dream can be that which you hinge on,
But carefully, else life be gone,
So, brother, sister, heed this well,
This warning is mine, for you to tell.

RECIPE: “Poulet Roti” French Style - Ballade “Le Chant Royal” 8

STANZA VII

The warning first comes from the job’s admin head:
“The Secret Service will persecute you to death!”
Then they drum the son hammer and tongs on head
After mounting terror to cut short his breath:
“We’ll slaughter your dad just as your mom we spurn
Do as we say or you too will on spit turn!
Breathe not a word of this or hell you will pay!”
Of course the son his brain maimed mums what they say,
Just as his mother drugged raped blackmailed by State
Does what she always covert did without pay.
Seek not asylum where Rights scarce pullulate!

ENVOI

Now the stakes hinge on what the father might say
E’en childhood friends turn up to act in French play
Each act in this drama unfolds roles through fate
Aesthetic distance wrote original play.
Seek not asylum where Rights scarce pullulate!

Helps to believe in things

Hang on in faith, we've a
home in heaven - the strong

Premium MemberSummer Solstice

the day of most light in a year
marks victory of light over dark
for an enlightenment so dear
to a spiritual gateway we embark

spiritual celebrations of the sun
are remarkable common wisdom
for all times and cultural evolutions
reflecting life’s universal algorithm

ancient tales of a savior, a divine son
of a virgin mother and mystery father
tell us of betrayal before resurrection
and hinge on the solar celestial harbor

rituals venerate summer solstice since olden times
at the Great Pyramids in Egypt Sphinx is crowned
Druids mark union of earth and heaven in chimes
guarding sacred fire at Vestalia festival is renowned

Compromise

It's no surprise that compromise
Can solve so many woes,
From visions 'bout decisions
To uniting former foes.

Don't merely stay with Column A,
But choose a bit from B;
The middle ground might bring you 'round
To true serenity.

A little give can help you live
At peace within your soul
And what you'll find inside your mind
Will help to make you whole.

So take a breath, for life or death
Won't hinge on your conclusion,
But if your bent is to relent,
There's promise in profusion.

A Winter's Tale In the Asphalt Homeland

Winter
       the remaining snow
   of the last
 brutal
   storm
is now absorbing
the dirt and detritus
   of the asphalt homeland
     That homeland
             where
plants struggle through cracks
    in the ground
and reach up
   to feel the winter sun
        on their petals
Winter
   and the masses taste
bitter winds
which chill them
  right through their bones
  The asphalt homeland
where dark eyes peer through
   the blinds
     of small city
 apartments
   Spring has not yet
manifested itself
   and the hopes
of the urban dwellers
   hinge on cloud formations
It is still a truism that
    There are many things
which remain beyond the
    power
of frail humans
   to understand

Hollywood

My 'wife', 'husband', sister and brother.
That principle is a recipe
That works only in the woods
Of hollywood, nollywood... and Wood, wood.
It can't buy you a bicycle
In your life-cycle to the Holyland
Where we use the Holybook.
Hollywood or Holyword?
Why clinging to wood?
When you can hinge on the WORD. Selah.

Premium MemberWhite Moon

There was one midnight hour when I stood alone
beyond my bed, in the shadowed room
I was the child in the white flannel gown
watching a white moth fly and a white moon rise

   The family slept..except for me
They never heard creaks in the wooden floor
or the squeak of the hinge on the old screen door

I climbed down the steps into the fresh night air
and was swallowed deep in the sequined sky
Something was whispering, from beyond the hedge
murmuring words, as a prayer, unsaid

Yet, I knew it was cunning, I knew it was wise
Temptation enticed me to follow the sound
It spoke with the drum of the cricket's thunder
I stood under the canopy of a million stars
Without hesitation, or a fear, unknown
Lit by the bleach of the crescent moon
I knew in the moment, I was not alone

The fragrance of jasmine, was caught in the breeze
flying swift as a dove, to comfort me
It picked me up, far off the grass
Where I could see beyond the past

Back in my room, tucked into the sheets
Watching a white moth fly, and the white moon leave

Journey's End

JOURNEY’S END

Gate with one rusting hinge on post
Squeaks open and rattles closed.
Smell of fryng bacon sneaks out
The window where the cat sits about.

It’s  dark, it’s cold  -  midnight is past;
But I’m glad to be home at last.
