Best Hinge On Poems
the day of most light in a year
marks victory of light over dark
for an enlightenment so dear
to a spiritual gateway we embark
spiritual celebrations of the sun
are remarkable common wisdom
for all times and cultural evolutions
reflecting life’s universal algorithm
ancient tales of a savior, a divine son
of a virgin mother and mystery father
tell us of betrayal before resurrection
and hinge on the solar celestial harbor
rituals venerate summer solstice since olden times
at the Great Pyramids in Egypt Sphinx is crowned
Druids mark union of earth and heaven in chimes
guarding sacred fire at Vestalia festival is renowned

Winter
the remaining snow
of the last
brutal
storm
is now absorbing
the dirt and detritus
of the asphalt homeland
That homeland
where
plants struggle through cracks
in the ground
and reach up
to feel the winter sun
on their petals
Winter
and the masses taste
bitter winds
which chill them
right through their bones
The asphalt homeland
where dark eyes peer through
the blinds
of small city
apartments
Spring has not yet
manifested itself
and the hopes
of the urban dwellers
hinge on cloud formations
It is still a truism that
There are many things
which remain beyond the
power
of frail humans
to understand

RECIPE: “Poulet Roti” French Style - Ballade “Le Chant Royal” 8
STANZA VII
The warning first comes from the job’s admin head:
“The Secret Service will persecute you to death!”
Then they drum the son hammer and tongs on head
After mounting terror to cut short his breath:
“We’ll slaughter your dad just as your mom we spurn
Do as we say or you too will on spit turn!
Breathe not a word of this or hell you will pay!”
Of course the son his brain maimed mums what they say,
Just as his mother drugged raped blackmailed by State
Does what she always covert did without pay.
Seek not asylum where Rights scarce pullulate!
ENVOI
Now the stakes hinge on what the father might say
E’en childhood friends turn up to act in French play
Each act in this drama unfolds roles through fate
Aesthetic distance wrote original play.
Seek not asylum where Rights scarce pullulate!

Ballade
Have you seen darkness or felt it's sting?
Tell me do you know darkness as your friend?
Has darkness ever made your ears to ring?
Searing pain and sorrow make your heart rend?
The mind plays tricks, but the heart can feel.
What is darkness; does it shadow your soul?
Can you handle the pain that life does deal?
Is it fear, or is it an empty bowl?
Oh tell me of sorrows that weaken your spirit!
I'll listen to every tear that must drop...
Tell me of fears and years of pain, I must hear it!
I'll hinge on your words my breathing will stop.
I have been where you are and ever am there now...
I can gently hold in my hands, your heart.
I know your pain, your sorrows and this is my vow...
Soothe your aches, keep you from falling apart...
I have no friend in darkness yet it follows me...
What is darkness, I ask you, don't you know?
Darkness is the sorrow of a heart that is broken...
It finds me, tracks me where ever I go...
Can I ever be free from the darkness of love?
Or will I forever be trapped and bound?
Stop… Think… Be quiet! You've been there before!
Hush! Whatever you do, don’t make a sound…
I can feel the darkness finding me again!
I can’t run, I’m out of breath, I fall to the ground and weep…

There was one midnight hour when I stood alone
beyond my bed, in the shadowed room
I was the child in the white flannel gown
watching a white moth fly and a white moon rise
The family slept..except for me
They never heard creaks in the wooden floor
or the squeak of the hinge on the old screen door
I climbed down the steps into the fresh night air
and was swallowed deep in the sequined sky
Something was whispering, from beyond the hedge
murmuring words, as a prayer, unsaid
Yet, I knew it was cunning, I knew it was wise
Temptation enticed me to follow the sound
It spoke with the drum of the cricket's thunder
I stood under the canopy of a million stars
Without hesitation, or a fear, unknown
Lit by the bleach of the crescent moon
I knew in the moment, I was not alone
The fragrance of jasmine, was caught in the breeze
flying swift as a dove, to comfort me
It picked me up, far off the grass
Where I could see beyond the past
Back in my room, tucked into the sheets
Watching a white moth fly, and the white moon leave

Having a positive
hold that keeps us going,
Helps to believe in things
higher than the mundane,
Hang on in faith, we've a
home in heaven - the strong
hinge on which life revolves.

My 'wife', 'husband', sister and brother.
That principle is a recipe
That works only in the woods
Of hollywood, nollywood... and Wood, wood.
It can't buy you a bicycle
In your life-cycle to the Holyland
Where we use the Holybook.
Hollywood or Holyword?
Why clinging to wood?
When you can hinge on the WORD. Selah.

I am no doll
Warrior, I am, fearlessly marching on!
I have fought and won difficult battles
I am master.

Tetractys
the current malicious mouthpiece of the
world’s current policeman
stands behind her podium & insists to the
rest of us that
“Russia & China will have to pay”
for the time that they have spent
not going along with the empire &
their buds,
to overthrow yet another country
under the guise of “peacemaking”
so as to rebuild another grocery store
for corporate america to
suck all the resources out of
like a hungry vampire
laboring away on a teenage girl’s
neck---
one watches her hand rise & cast
up & down
when she addresses the room full of
stuffy dignitaries,
who represent the powerful people in the
world, all whose interests have
absolutely nothing to do with the
“suffering people” of Syria,
but rather only hinge on what will come
next,
because they all want to be on that first
flight into the reconstruction,
so as to turn it into another shopping mall
with business all developed by &
profiting those who succumbed to these
shallow threats spun out the mouth of
Sec. Clinton---
when the will of the world is set
by a government whose sole purpose is
to keep its own power in check,
transparently thwarting its might on all
who show even the slightest glimpse of
disagreement
with how it runs the show,
there will only be the direst
consequences for the rest of us
when the big bully trips & falls---
why all the time is spent
on manufacturing lies for the people
who sit opposite their television screen,
unable to get up & stop another invasion on
their own,
is beyond the mindset of most of us
who understand that the US will do what the
US wants, until everyone is so weak that they
need it to survive,
they’re beat into submission by
military & diplomatic war,
or they find themselves in bed with it,
sucking it off
like a good little concubine.

Night's ethereal rumble boosts the soul.
The light from her eyes twinkled on his palm.
He was reaching his breath range as a bull
Night's ethereal rumble boosts the soul.
A faint star flash beat - tinkled on her whole.
The hinge on the crimson star is his psalm.
Night's ethereal rumble boosts the soul.
The light from her eyes twinkled on his palm.

When I do dream, I find a well,
Where all the dreams would mix and swell,
A treasure store of hope I find,
Possibilities undefined.
A dream is a thing, but yet, ‘tis not,
At best, it’s nothing more than a thought.
Except for when the dreams come true,
And that is up to me, to you.
We write our dreams within our hopes,
We cling to them like they are ropes.
Our dreams inspire life again,
But crush us, bringing woe and pain.
A dream can be that which you hinge on,
But carefully, else life be gone,
So, brother, sister, heed this well,
This warning is mine, for you to tell.

It's no surprise that compromise
Can solve so many woes,
From visions 'bout decisions
To uniting former foes.
Don't merely stay with Column A,
But choose a bit from B;
The middle ground might bring you 'round
To true serenity.
A little give can help you live
At peace within your soul
And what you'll find inside your mind
Will help to make you whole.
So take a breath, for life or death
Won't hinge on your conclusion,
But if your bent is to relent,
There's promise in profusion.

JOURNEY’S END
Gate with one rusting hinge on post
Squeaks open and rattles closed.
Smell of fryng bacon sneaks out
The window where the cat sits about.
It’s dark, it’s cold - midnight is past;
But I’m glad to be home at last.

Internet mania, a double-edged sword,
Prez campaigns, fun nor frolic can afford,
Memes may make huge buzz,
But few votes for the fuss,
Fans may turn sudden foes,
And goodwill sooner goes,
Look at Trump, he now whimpers who ere roared.

Poet’s note: kamala Harris may have turned a phenomenon, or rather a ‘feminomenon’ at present to command a lot of fun and froth on social media. The question is would they turn into actual votes in November? One hopes, she does not become a victim like Hillary Clinton. Prez campaigns cannot hinge on coconut jokes.

Robert Sherriff - Political Landscape
The political landscape is ever-evolving, and the events of January 12th, 2025, underscore that even seasoned politicians can falter. For Trump, future achievements will hinge on adopting innovative approaches, emphasizing meaningful policies, and promoting unity over division.
