Glacial Lake Sonnet

It’s hard to comprehend when I look out,
but the science has left so little doubt,
ten thousand years back, this place I call home
was chilly depths, where only fishes roamed.
The whole if it a lengthy glacial lake,
but to my mind that seems like some mistake.
Ten thousand years…that doesn’t seem so long,
Karan Tepe is older, it feels so wrong…
to change so much in very little time,
that this was water seems strange to my mind;
but sandy soil, erosion on cliffs,
scraps on the rock, they tell the truth of it.
Ten thousand years…that high ridge was a shore,
what will in look like in ten thousand more?

Melting Floating Glacier

One look at the years
The shock of floating glaciers
Melting fast my soul.

Reid Glacier - Glacier Bay

Your electric blues
Reflect the light of deepest space
Like tropical waves
Suspended in time

Slow moving
At the pace of mountains
Water seeking water
Like a child returning home

in winter of congealed land
the poignant stream froze
in the desolate valley of chilled flowers
unseen in the hills of blues

the spring of revived longing
melted glacier of innate hearty content
in lacustrine luster of sapphire embrace
where the blocks of essence ice
perched on actuality stones of yearned shore
formed the obelisk icon
the eternal connection
between the heavenly sky
and endless life force

Ice Age Cometh Moot Point 2nd Glacier

Impossible mission to uncouple accountability,
(no matter minuscule - veritable drop within
figurative bucket when quantity contrasted/
compared alongside industrial waste courtesy
major corporations), yet helplessness prevails
survival (mine) inextricably bound trappings
twenty first century allow, enable, and provide

exploiting even dollop so called nonrenewable
resources, I could sacrifice corporeal entity -
body, mind and spirit within eyeblink exhales
last breath before becoming repurposed - inert
cremated ashes randomly scattered across all
points encompassing terrestrial world wide web.

Obituary -
Despite havoc primate species did wreak
from the afterlife I figuratively speak
and applaud millennials whose peak
performance accorded courtesy
your token "aged hippie,"

mild mannered and meek
and long haired pencil necked geek,
whose disembodied spirit
now volunteers as Halloween sideshow freak
incorporating gallows humor tongue in cheek.

Glacier Ice

Frozen, crystallized, jagged
glacier ice travels
toward freedom
toward the sea

a thunderous crash
ice shelves splash
calving free
falling into the sea

tenacious waves
appease serrated edges
rolling over but not dead
ice drifts with the sea

radiant in the sun
marbleized white and blue
dissolve in the warmer currents
death hastened by the sea.

Premium Member Glacier Lines

Lines on my chest like a treasure map
X marks the spot
Your finger trails one from left to right
I sigh
Signed their names across my heart
I didn't ask them to
Ridges, glacier lines.
Your tongue leaves a small
moist trace down the valley of
dried tears
My hand lifts your head
In a desperate plea
to stop
Your love includes scars
My pain denies them

Premium Member Exotic Glacier Bay - the Glaciers Speak

Here they are before me,
surreal in the dazzling morning sun.
Against clear skies of blue, and
peaked snow-capped mountains-
these tall glaciers of Alaskan ice,
      stand heavenly before my eyes.

Their marbled, glistening whites,
   with multi shades of blue,
      arcane crevices and jagged peaks-
stir visions of cold, ghost-like forms
that glare at me in this mysterious Bay
      of murmurous creaks and moans.

More than the eye can see,
   these lustrous glaciers speak,
      like eerie, moving forms,
in corridors that shift and moan-
and with their loud sonorous wails,
give birth- calving chunks that fall.

With an abrupt, roaring explosion,
all at once, it starts- the large,
calved segment plummets to the sea.
Waves and splashes follow every birth.
These exotic glaciers live and speak-
more than the eye can see.

Glacier On the Ocean

Green waves of the ocean
Are in insipid and pale combination
With very striking sapphire blue
Of the glacier

The evolution gave man
Ability to use tools
But to learn to use them
Man needs schools

But what if someone could use all tools
In abstract idea of tools
And could turn any tool
To make any other tool

For example he could turn no matter and no space
To tool that is beyond matter or space
And he would have ability
To further control his destiny

To use next step in evolution
And step after that in entire 360 degree revolution
Entire spectrum of that evolution
This would be revolution

Even more profound ability
If what to ancient Greeks was infinity
This infinity would be to everything
Absolutely everything

And what writing of universal laws is to infinity
This ability
Would be
To this absolute infinity

This however is all
Not food for the soul
Like the insipid green of waves
There is no heaven in those waves

But the glacier would reflect no less
Than meaning in meaningless
This true heaven would be
I hope I can make it part of my destiny
