A QUIET POND

Quiet living pond,
Teaming with its watered lives,
Sits in wet silence:
Ducks and the lily pad frogs,
In stilled pond contemplation:-

Tadpoles

tadpoles in the stream
     swimming zigzag everywhere
frogs are soon to be

Frogs in Heaven

If I ever find my mind in a sermon from heaven
Or ever blind as a frog in a broken earthen oven
I’d hop my hump back down to earth   
And yawp my stump for a crown of worth

Real heaven can exist in the commotion of a threshold 
Reckon, if you can, and resist the

Before Easter

A late March thundershower floats toward me
Like a plucked flower
Handed over on a walk to a lover
With a smile

Down this afternoon path
That breezes past
Spring-born ponds
Erupting
Of Peepers ululating and Chorus Frogs ratcheting
In a wave of Gnawa music.

The surface
Puckers
Diacritic raindrops
Slowly
Softly

Each plop and their purple ripple
Has not enough splash
To generate an echo

From the reedy shore.

The storm not so

ECHOES OF THE LAKE

Trumpet-like lilies by the lake
preen for the flamboyant flamingo,
sifting through the murky waters,
searching for algae and shrimp
where crawdads click and clatter.

While silvery fish glide stealthily
leaving barely a ripple behind,
a chorus of frogs’ croaks
echo like the whining twang
of a plucked banjo string.

Dragonflies skim the water’s surface
as their translucent wings shimmer
like gems in the sunlight,
dart about the

Variant Frogs

the moon shines above
yet variant frogs make noise
around the calm pond

Darkness deals with your dusty dirty wares,
Shadows shine, shimmering in sheering sears,
Stars twinkle topmost on the tossing trees,
To crisply cuddle the blistering breeze.

Fearless forests friends forbid foolish spies,
Listen long, lively laughter lifts

I hear and see frogs
Chattering on wet bed rocks
As I passes by.

Buzzing bees

pollen covered bee
flits from flower to flower
nature's matchmaker

frogs croaking in base
crickets chirping in tenor
camp with nature's band

reflecting moonlight
lunar cool lake shadows dance
dappling your sweet face

Frogs leap from a pond,
Wet skins glisten in sunlight.

faerie Frogs Terrific Attitude

Versatile, happy faerie frog ponders his day
As he sits on his lily pad in the middle of the bay
Cattails are giving themselves a gentle sway
As they are gently moved by winds from far away

What a gorgeous day faerie frog says, happy Tuesday!
His attitude is so good, everyone invites him to play
He dives into the water

The Meanness of Some Frogs

She had to stretch on tiptoes to kiss Prince Frog
He stood still, but his polka dots were quivering
He liked attention from sweet young girls

She thought it was an innocent kiss, and so did we
Not knowing at the time about the mean ways of some frogs
lecherous frogs with sad malicious selfish nasty ways

Bringing the Frogs

Distinguished cobra with a top hat and tux
You are such a gentleman to all these ducks
They are being called, there is a big influx
Because they love what you do, these happy ducks.

Why do you like these quackers so?
Because they follow you to and fro?
Or because they bring the frogs from way below
I hear that you

The Yellow Frogs

The little yellow frogs
are pumping their thighs

creating synchronous ripples
over the lily pond,
it's a musical moment
but a silent one.

A Blue Jay cackles-out,
its scolding rattle
slaps my ears.

The frogs for a short while
croak back,

then return
to their silent work-out,

water music resumes.

Two Frogs In a Teacup

In a teacup's embrace, a tale we shall unfold,
Of two colorful frogs, with stories to behold.
One painted blue, the other a purple hue,
Their minds intertwined, in a world askew.

The blue frog whispered, "We're tea thieves, you see!
Stealing each drop, a wild heist to set free!"
His thoughts danced swiftly, like ripples in a pond,
Believing the teacup
