The rocky road made good sense to get here.
Life doesn't slow down, but speeds on like fire.
She remembers how life always appeared
When the Green Man always for her enquired.
He was the one who showed felicity
Back in the woods of mythic wanderers.
It didn't matter his ethnicity
He became a mystical conquerer
Wandering through the elemental fields
Where spectral skylights sparkled at twilight,
Revealing truths so environmental,
Dreamy ancestral visions bathed in light,
Ways that can only be told in stories
By golden stars and observatories.

Chilly the Penguin reached his shop and checked his bunch of keys
He opened up his clothing store and hoped that he could please
A spider came in from the cold, some winter wear to choose
He told the penguin shopkeeper, “I need much warmer shoes.”
“Would that be four matching pairs?” the shopkeeper enquired
The spider looked surprised and said, “That many aren’t required.”
The penguin looked confused and said, “My adding isn’t great,
But even I can count your legs and see that you’ve got eight.”
The spider shook his head and said, “Do you not understand,
I only want shoes for my feet, to walk on frozen land.
There's snow and ice outside today, which every penguin loves,
But spiders need three pairs of shoes, and, for snowballs… gloves!”

BETTY-JO
I often think of Betty-Jo,
A girl I really admired.
Blue-eyed, blonde-haired Betty-Jo,
The girl I really desired.
I might have married Betty-Jo.
But, too shy, I never enquired.

She arrived at 3pm on the dot
coming anywhere other than Greater Manchester
her northern accent was hard to decipher
She could recognise a meter oak
but had no time for Robinas
She enquired why guys were into figures
after i mentioned my SL120 record player
She was fiercely Red/ Green
believing in mandated proportional representation
She had a German Granny
and could understand, but not speak Deutsch
She could only thank me for a chat
not wishing for a relationship
my efforts thwarted
no green shoots

Twas the night before Christmas, I’d just caught a mouse
The cats licked their lips, we’ve got two in our house
But unless we humans are feasting on jerky
I’ve got to go outside and get me a Turkey
I got to the door and grabbed my wooly hat
My other half said, “Where you going in that?”
She told me that I’m going nowhere at all
Until I have fixed the big hole in the wall
“Hole?” I enquired, “what hole might that be?”
My wife wore a frown and she snarled back at me,
“The bloody great chasm as high as my knee,
That wall had two windows but now it has three.”
I told her, “That’s your fault, you said we’ve got vermin,
But what type it was took a while to determine,
I set traps for mice but I never got one,
But I won’t be beat, that's when I thought…
SHOTGUN!”

"Is this the gate of Heaven?" asked Mary.
"Silly" said Anne, it's only the gate of the park."
As they walked down the glade Mary enquired:
"Who lives in the trees over there?
Look. they're waving at us."
"It's nobody," said Anne, "just the shades
dancing over the grass under the trees."
"Let's climb the mound," said Mary.
"Yes, let's" said Anne.
"Does this hill lead to the sky?" asked Mary.
"Of course it doesn't," snapped Anne.
"If you were big like me, you'd see
the thorns and thistles with purple flowers
on the brow of the hill, you would."
"Are hilly brows like eyebrows?" asked Mary.
"Sort of, ony different," said Anne,
looking very deliberate like Mum sometimes.
Mary ran ahead. "Look!" she cried,
"you can see a piece of the sky
where there's a hole in the ground."
"Silly, that the relegshun of the sky
in the lake," said Anne.
One at the lakeside they saw a swan
swimming gracefully toward them.
"Is it an angel? asked Mary .
Her sister was speechless for a moment.
"It's just lovely," sighed Ann,
who for once dropped her omniscient guard.

You are a friend indeed
For your deeds I have heard
From others in need
Or is it from your own deeds?
That from your lips I have heard?
In my life you've been for a little while
Though it seems like quite a while
Is it because it was worth my while?
Or of the time away with you we whiled?
Hope you will be in my life for a long while
Out of my comfort zone you've challenged me
Prodded, provoked, enquired, piqued,
Though not always happy, you've made me
A true friend in you I've recognised
As the treasure you really are

There once lived a man, abhorrent and cruel,
With family he resided, high up on the moor.
He yet drew breath, a misfortune unbeknownst,
To those in his care, their fate soon manifest.
His wife had passed, through illness he claimed,
He sent his two eldest, to labour the land.
So he remained, with child daughter abode,
As his drinking grew more, and his purse ever lighter.
On one stormy night, in a drunken rage,
He took her life, for two shillings and six pence saved.
Bearing child in grasp, to a disused mine he tossed her remains,
And claimed to his neighbours, he had sent her away.
By sheer fortune and distrust, the vicar enquired,
And so it was known, the man had lied.
Reports of a distant light, on that stormy night came in,
Led a search to the mine, where lost child was found.
So the man had fled, but the law followed close behind,
Even across the vast channel, he could not evade his fate.
In chains he was brought back, to face his shameful crime,
And so he was despatched by rope, the hanging man.

Hey you! what do you do, what's your name,
and why you seem so weird;
Why so silent and timid like a deer,
Why you don't act like us, why you won't interact with us;
Do you have any problems or any underlying fears?
Alas, you enquired my friend,
All your stereotypes have hurt me badly,
As spectacular as this world is,
just see through my rimmed spectacles
how unfair were you sadly,
gladly I held my own, like a horse with blinders on,
spending my nights chasing the dawn.
I reflect back and smile,
not meek but rather unique,
I was, not a pawn a knight I was,
at times in life, you need to sit back and reflect,
the pain would go away slowly,
cause it's easy to hurt but takes time to heal.

Army of Napoleon Bonaparte,
Was so rhythmically marching,
Gliding across all rough paths
Like condors to conquer the Alps;
A woman aged in experience,
Warns him consequences dire;
For never ever in her lifetime,
Had she seen anyone coming back;
He, overwhelmed by love for her,
Gifts her diamonds vastly valued;
Tells her to spread the great story
Of Napoleon daring to come back;
The army in reluctance rebels,
To move ahead to such hazard;
Telling them it’s a matter trivial,
He enkindles their spirits to soar;
Indeed, they had seen a hill,
And enquired their master about it;
‘Alps Mountain is great’, he said,
Lo, this resembles nothing of it;
They climbed it so simple and easy,
And expected another expedition tough;
Reaching the plains he smilingly said,
The Alps has already been conquered;
Relentless was Napoleon’s ways,
Victory-oriented his daring deeds;
His faith mingled with intelligence,
Charisma combined with confidence;
Motivation merged with military trust,
Handled rarest of rare predicaments…

Who's Got Time for Politics?
I had the kids in tow,
as I was walking out the store.
A nice lady with a clipboard
enquired who I was voting for.
"I'd like to help you out," I said,
"but I've got a lot to do.
Y'see these two are late for school
'cause we just got jabs for 'flu."
"I have three jobs
and it's testing my endurance.
Sixty hours on the best of weeks
and I still don't get insurance."
"I can't put my kids in day-care
'cause I can't spare a dime.
I barely make slave wages;
of course, no overtime."
"And if I quit one job
I can't get unemployment.
I'm lucky that my partner
is on a third deployment."
"I spend my spare time on the phone
trying to get prescriptions,
that won't require another mortgage.
It's giving me conniptions!"
I'd packed my groceries in the hatch,
and strapped the kids in tight.
"You're very nice, and you've a job,
and I hope you do it right."
"Sorry I couldn't be more help,
but they're all crooks and lunatics!
With all this stuff that's going on,
who's got time for politics!"

In darkness the eyes are short sighted
The future dream could meet a light
Close the eyes to see the sunny sky,
Hugged by love and passion
Surrounded by the people’s piety
And smile.
In darkness the eyes are short sighted
Carefully move on days and nights
With hope and faith
Left behind blooming flowers
Consider the pass to proceed
Close the eyes in the sunshine
To pursue the trip
Enquired by heart.
In darkness the eyes are short sighted
The future dream could meet a light
Since flowers
Naturally scatter.

It was the pill the doctor had said so
To take it near the toilet and away you’ll go
So I sat with pill in my hand
With a glass of water at my ready command
So I took it and there was a gurgling sound
As I ran a away to the toilet bound
And I sat on the throne for 20 minutes flat
Whilst playing Annie Laurie on the organ so loudly at that
There was some painting around the WC
That took a while to clean well you see
So I rang the doctor who enquired from me
Had his mother’s Austrian recipe worked so beautifully.

Incalculable sheets of thoughts hidden
Boiling brain,mimicking sharp gnawing pain
Pretty soul lay there quite sick, bed ridden
Entrapped by deep surges of bloody bane
Her stamina, sleekly started to wane
Stepped in, her beloved from a far land
He sat beside sobbing and picked her hand
Stroking it gently, enquired the reason
She lay still, with expression being bland
Untold she croaked, in bleak winter season
