Answers were needed, like wind direction,
she could feel him heavy in her heartbeat,
it was a good weight, the kind carelessness brings to capricious carress,
his toe prints still in the trail of beach paths in her fantasy's shores,
were his words an omen of futurity's obsession,
is his face a language for love or lust,
could there be blessings in knowing his total nature,
is he alive as art in her soul, or is he a bore when brought before her banquet,
to the mountain mystic she journeyed with joltings in her guessings,
a Seer who fed the mountains spirit syrup from a collection of wasted wants
spread forth by reused wine bottles, labels changed but all blue from experiences,
the gypsy, to wise to be pretty, and too natural to be ugly
enquired of the woman with youth as a weapon and curiosity as a concern,
"What is the most dangerous thing you've ever done?",
and she replied, 'falling in love', smiling out of embarrassment,
the gypsy smiled too, remembering all that,
after being given the man's name, a simple photo, and a birth date
she stared into Time gone missing, exhaled from a soft stun
and told the inquisitive girl,
"He'll meet you in these mountains,
where gypsies speak of love in cards and legacies in crystals..."

Romanticism
One walked out
One walked in
I sat nervously in reception
Waiting for my torture to begin
Bouts of laughter came from the interview room
Knocking my confidence with each bout
I didn’t want to be there anymore
Tempted to just forget it and walk out
The door opened she came out smiling
My turn to face the panel of three
They were all very nice
Though it actually didn’t help me
The interview in full motion
Questions and scenarios galore
Confident in my responses
Of them l felt quite sure
However, there was a problem
One l had never experienced before
I could not stop saying long ‘ummms’
Every-time l opened my mouth which was impossible to ignore
I apologised for the ongoing ummms
Explained it was just nerves
Next thing that came out my mouth
Yes, you guessed it….’ummm’ before my words
I left the interview feeling completely humiliated
I cried whenever the interview came to mind
I was so disappointed and embarrassed of myself
It was obvious the position was not mine
The letter arrived... l wasn’t interested
As l knew already what it said
I simply glanced at it
My husband read it instead
‘You got the job Deb’, he told me
You can imagine my utter surprise
Handing me the letter
I honestly could not believe my eyes
After working the job for some time
I enquired why they had chosen me
My interview was not my finest hour
With me ummming constantly
She told me there was something about me
That just shone through
Even with all your ummming, she smiled
We decided this job was for you
The lesson l learnt and want to convey in this long winded story is
it doesn’t always have to be perfect or right
Sometimes in life ‘it just is ‘…. simply meant to be
Ummm…..and for you the universe just shines bright!

A mother was born and dreamed of a beautiful life.
A new journey had begun - but a hard path lay ahead.
Demons seduced her companion - leaving her alone.
The land was foreign and dark clouds appeared above.
Child in hand, mother reached an ambiguous cross road.
Before setting foot upon the long way -
her conscience enquired:
"Are you sure this is the right path?
It will be difficult, full of pain"
The mother smiled as she saw hope in her infant's eyes.
A real mother would sacrifice her own happiness for a child.
Storms came on dark days with thunder and lightning but,
she kept her child dry and secure.
Winters came with cold days and masonic winds,
but she kept her child warm and protected.
Sometimes she would not eat - but kept her child nourished.
In secrecy, tears would fall - her son would only see a happy mask.
There were days when life was burdensome
and full of worry that shook in fear.
Defeating hazards and obstacles, she guided her son
along the terrain of the highest mountain.
When they reached the top her son reassured his mother:
"Thank you mother - I would not have got here without you,
you can let go now. I think I will be OK from here."
His mother smiled with pride - her boy was now a man.
When her son was at a loss - his mother would remind him:
"Son you only learn from losing."
When her son fell numerous times -
his mother gave him hope and taught him faith:
"Son, you can't control what happens to you in life,
but you can control how you react to it."
With the love and prayers of his mother,
he rose time and time again, until he stood strong.
Life is full of trials and tests - being optimistic will help defeat hardship. Loving others will give them belief and a reason to live.
When someone moves mountains for you,
you make sure these obstacles are no barriers for them,
when the times comes to shelter them.

I’ve finally hit the big time
I’m going to be on the stage
Reading one of my poems
I’m sure to be all the rage
I enquired about my dressing room
Would it have a gold star on the door
With champagne and flowers to greet me
(I’ve read about diva’s before)
You can imagine my disappointment
When I was shown to the ladies loo
Not enough room to swing a cat
And it stinks of wee and pooh!

Franky was seven and having a party
He told all his school-mates, except for Spud Carty
And once they had heard that Spud wasn't invited
All of them said they were really excited
And then at the party the kids all had fun
Which might have continued if Spud hadn't come
Spud didn't play games, he was not in the mood
He’d much rather stuff himself full of free food
He grabbed all the biscuits and scoffed the whole lot
And all the Bombay mix although it was hot
He snaffled the sarnies and some went down whole
Then grabbed the spaghetti piled up in a bowl
He gobbled so much that he struggled to chew
Then Franky cried out, that's not only for you
Spud simply laughed spitting food as he said
We all gotta eat... or else we'd be dead
And that was when poor Franky found himself wishing
His dad had stayed home and had not gone off fishing
Spud sucked spaghetti like slithering snakes
And said when I'm done, gonna find me some cakes
But Franky looked sick and he started to squirm
That sgetti looks just like a wriggly worm
And Spud got annoyed when he heard someone giggle
Don't be so stoopid, spaghetti can't wriggle
Spud swallowed more, that spaghetti was yummy
He said with a grin as he patted his tummy
You lot he shouted must really be thick
To get the food first you'd have to be quick
The front door swung open, there stood Franky's dad
He looked a bit angry, in fact he looked mad
I’m meant to be fishing but I'm running late
I got to the lake but forgot all my bait
I've checked out the shed and I've looked all around
Wherever I look there's no bait to be found
Was it indoors his son Franky enquired
So it would be handy when it was required
Right there on the table his father confirms
An old plastic dish, full of wriggly worms
And that was when Spud's belly started to grumble
And everyone heard his guts starting to rumble
Spud almost flew to the lavatory
What happened next was a horror story
And when throwing up seemed much less of a danger
He left with kids calling out, Don't be a stranger!

I went searching for-
that little child who cuddled in her mother's arms,
those tender feet that jumped in rain,
that little heart which melted for a kiss,
those twinkling eyes that gleamed in the moonlight.
I enquired the oak tree about-
one little nose that smelt the early morning jasmines,
an enthusiastic voice that sang the stories of the sky,
those tender fingers that brilliantly belted out the piano,
that curly hair which locked the light of life securely in it.
I kept on searching for those red ribbons, that blue tunic and those black shoes which accompanied the girl to her school
I walked all the way right from her study table to her office desk following her footprints to get some detail of her
I ran amidst the woods where she breathed the pure early morning air
I checked the cabins of the city metro that seated her comfortably when she choked for breath.
Her spectacles had no answer to any of my questions regarding her whereabouts
Her golden ring lied lifeless on the table having lost its royal glory
Her favorite shoes are still waiting for the mountain trekking event.
Her black bike had no answer when I asked why it's engine is never ignited.
Her friends still kept her number in their contact list pointlessly waiting for a text message from her.
Her boyfriend silently walked into his office cabin and seriously worked on his assignments - he'ld probably never smile again
Her mother sat on the dining table with two plates in front of her-she'ld probably never realise that the food remains untasted forever.

Chilly the Penguin reached his shop and checked his bunch of keys
He opened up his clothing store and hoped that he could please
A spider came in from the cold, some winter wear to choose
He told the penguin shopkeeper, “I need much warmer shoes.”
“Would that be four matching pairs?” the shopkeeper enquired
The spider looked surprised and said, “That many aren’t required.”
The penguin looked confused and said, “My adding isn’t great,
But even I can count your legs and see that you’ve got eight.”
The spider shook his head and said, “Do you not understand,
I only want shoes for my feet, to walk on frozen land.
There's snow and ice outside today, which every penguin loves,
But spiders need three pairs of shoes, and, for snowballs… gloves!”

Frederick did mount his bike.
‘Bye Mum I’m off for a hike’
he said, as he went on his way,
that day, one sunny Saturday.
He was very close to running over,
a snail emerging from the clover.
‘Too fast’ it said, ‘you’ll crush my shell’,
‘Why didn’t you just ring your bell?’
He carried on and rode some more,
Then saw a snake upon the floor.
‘Get past’ it said ‘you’re far too slow,
for across this path I need to go!’
He sped up at the snake’s request,
he simply thought that was best!
The trumpet sound forced a pause,
or an accident he would have caused.
‘Don’t you look where you are going?’
said the elephant, his temper showing.
‘To miss something as big as me,
means surely you cannot see!
Around the elephant he rode,
before he came across a toad,
who leaped Frederick, bike and all,
then shouted, ‘good job you’re not too tall!’
Frederick headed home, he’d had enough,
of all this really silly stuff.
‘Good ride?’ Frederick’s Mum enquired,
but she knew nothing as it transpired!
‘A talking snail, snake and toad,
forced me to cross the road
and the elephant I couldn’t see,
decided to have a go at me!’
His mother merely shook her head,
then demanded that he go to bed,
‘Your lies Frederick are so absurd,
the most outrageous I’ve ever heard!’
Then Frederick's dad came running in,
‘You won’t believe what I’ve just seen?’
an elephant, toad, snail and snake,
of that there can be no mistake!’
‘Oh, my word’ his mother gasped,
‘what did they want? may I ask'.
‘To tell Frederick that they’re alright
Despite him giving them a fright.’

A furry little caterpillar
Crawled onto my knee
He turned into a butterfly
And landed in a tree
Beside him was a humming bird
Sucking pollen from a rose
When down fell an inchworm
That landed on my nose
A little baby bunny rabbit
Hopped onto my lap
When I started petting him
His ears began to flap
‘Did someone knock?’ a voice enquired *
And when I looked around
Two bleary eyes and long pink snout
Popped up from underground.
I came across a rooster
Sitting on a fence
A sign said "you can pet him
For only fifty cents"
As I peeked into a sty
I heard a great big thud
I saw the three little piggy's
Rolling in the mud
I looked up in the sky
And I saw a lonesome goose
I whistled "where are you flying to"
He replied. "to visit Dr. Seuss

'Twas nine o'clock on Monday morn
And Ned was full of cheek,
Depositing the cash he'd won
From gambling through the week.
The manager was curious
And asked Ned for the drum
On how he’d manage to procure
Each week a tidy sum.
"I only bet on sure things sir,"
Was how old Ned replied.
"Then show me an example friend?"
The manager enquired.
"No worries sir, I'll bet you now
Five hundred of the best
That you are wearing bright red jocks
And sir I do not jest."
The banker oozing confidence
Let out a joyous cry,
"You're on my friend!" and bared the cash,
A twinkle in his eye.
"Well drop your trousers sir," Ned said,
"Don't leave a bloke in doubt."
The banker thought the office more
A place to sort it out.
Then once inside he dropped his dacks
And with a grin he said,
"You've done your dough for you can see
These jocks are sure not red."
"Not good enough," old Ned replied,
"For they look red to me,
Perhaps it's 'cause I'm colour blind,
We'll need a referee."
"Let's ask your good Accountant sir,
To cast the final lot,"
But when the Banker called him in
He fainted on the spot.
"What's up with him?" The Banker said,
"The man's out like a light."
"He's in a state of shock," said Ned,
"But he'll come 'round all right."
"You see we waged a little bet,
A thousand he would pay,
If I could drop your dacks by ten;
A sure thing ... wouldn't you say?"

And how did things go with you, enquired the owl, of Dumpty.? Well he replied I travelled
quite a time and saw a few things on the way..' anything that points to foul play said the bird?
well on the way to where I ended up I came across some stuff said the Egg, really..' the
owl intoned leaning ever so slightly toward the egg..' what does it ' entail' the bird asked? as
at that moment it turned to preen its tail feathers..' well said Dumpty in a sibilant tone..!
As a matter of fact I think it best to discuss it further at some distance from here..! really
replied the owl again raising its eye feathers, and still managing to look refined in spite of a
slight waddle as it hurried along..' I..I well I don't know quite how..how well how to put it said Dumpty..!
to the owl, yet all the time looking over at the still prone form of the cat, but it appears.. Oh my: it seems...'
Dumpty said; that his name is..well its considered well.. Its a..a (square word) some nice guy name of
Daver Austin was celebrating some of your many exploits, and so on..and that's what happened..! It is as such classified..
I have even heard the name 'Moguls' mentioned..' in hushed tones around here,,' pray tell dear
owl, are they descendants of that Genghis Khan; by any chance..?

Narrative
Never had I embraced an officious abode as religiously before
But this striking red and white interior I started to adore
If I was out on a run and needed to use the loo
I’d stop by and relieve myself with no urgency to remove my shoe
Nested on the second floor and fairly warm during the cold
Drizzles off my head and from my eyes, it did hold
I have been offered a variety of sandwiches there
And sweet smiles and embraces by my snug caramelized bear
In the Fijian vicinity the British Big Ben would sound
Despite the degree of my insanity, my heart in tranquillity would pound
Last month when I stopped to say ‘hello’, at my mother-in-law’s house
The security guard enquired if I was the ex-owner’s spouse!
I stood speechless as in that relationship; we had no commitment
I then went to my mother’s home and painted it with an imitation ruby and snow, forfeiting a tenderly futile hunt.
