Morning Encounter

I know you have
been waiting to show me
the glittering glaze of sunlight
caught in your stillness,
the reflected trees on the far bank
mirrored perfectly and something
surfacing from out of the depths
sending ripples across the morning
to gently lap against  
my waking mind.
And I don't even know 
your name.

Soldiers are dying
Food and Water scarcity
How much longer are the Solders to bare
Freedom and opposition take time and endurance
The Solders are embattled in their own physical survival
Tears pour in how long?

Close Encounter

I had a close encounter 
Just this morning, on my walk,
When a bird of prey came swooping down -
A falcon or a hawk.

Either way, it flew right at me;
I saw feathers and a face
And it could have quickly grabbed my hat
And left without a trace.

Instead, it made it to a branch
And sat and looked around,

It’s Saturday morning at about 9am. I’m in the chemistry lab, a sterile looking room with 12 workstations that are like multi level kitchen islands with sinks and various lab gear. It’s the most fluorescently lit environment on earth and everything looks to be either white, stainless steel or glass.
