Never Said

Reaching the twilight zone of my life 
when tiny pieces of memories are the
most precious possessions of a meaningful journey, 
my thoughts are flooded with unspoken words
as my mind wanders back to the poignant past 
with love, some regrets, boundless yearning 
for the days which once felt like staying forever. 

 a chance encounter on a weathered dock, 
 gossamer melting rays of sun fell on us, 
 I remembered the unsaid words,
 which I and you should have uttered,
 but strangely failed to.
 
  Our eyes met, our lips quivered,
  Our hearts almost burst into fragments,
  but this was the only time, 
  not a word was voiced, 
  everything around us - remained hushed!

Is today the day the world, who witnessed the heartbreak,
wants us to speak, 
Is today the day we no longer restrain 
our throbbing hearts when I meet you 
at this amber sunset, 
when all the remnants of life blend together?

Or this day will again glide the same unruffled way 
as it had passed many years ago?
