We are the embers
of a brighter flame...
neither fallen nor ascended,
neither silence nor song.
It keeps on going as according to some plan
Till all the burning questions turn to embers
Days drag on by like endless caravans
I’ve heard my name is on the list of members
I’ve tried some fortune, like the others do
My income couldn’t cover all expenses
Required paperwork got me subdued
So little privacy was left for recompenses
The time I spent was my invisible co-writer
Of what I meant to say, and what I missed
The evening sun just for a moment burns bit brighter
No mystery unfolds, we've seen all this..
Sparks of mortal love,
Glowing embers eternal,
Mellowing embrace.....
my relationship smoldering
You are a flame licking me, aflame
with crimson fire of desire,
and crimson-crackly is the air tonight
alight and bright as the candle
that burns like our passion
but fades in the soot-stench of dawn...
embers grown cold, the incense of morning
making no sense, and left bleak inside
with a grey hollow mourning.
Ashes in the grate
grate on tenebrous threads of fate.
You are a thought brushing me, wisps
of winter snowflake-soft,
and white-blinding is the light
alight and bright as the candle
of love that slowly burned out...
fading like melting snow on the garden,
light sifting and churning,
the grey urn of morning
holding ashes of mourning.
ice shards dangle~
each one a stalactite of silence
waiting to be shattered.
they don’t melt, just disappear,
a breath exhaled too soon,
a word swallowed before speech.
embers are the orphans of fire,
still murmuring in yellow tongues,
still dreaming of ash.
they remember heat
but have forgotten how to burn.
embers remember the weight of flame,
ice shards dream of drowning in it.
the world pauses,
stuck between the sharpness of cold
and heat’s hunger,
both stubborn, unyielding.
some days the world slips far away
like fading light at end of day
a quiet ache i cannot name
yet thunder stirs beneath the gray

Cold
Glass tears
Icicles
Winter's slow weep
Hanging from the eaves
April’s warm embrace
Serrated shards shattering
Sun shining through the wispy clouds
Memories of colder days melting
The fire’s breath has turned to shadows
The dancing flames still in the heart
Embers flicker what has been
Their glow is softly dying
The heat departing
Ashes twirling
Smoky pall
Hangs gray
Left

rustling hedge shakes free~
red breasts scatter like embers
claim the thawing earth.
Winter’s grip splits at the seams.
The earth exhales. The worms stir.
Out of respect for justice
I will take a smaller bit
In an old-school way I trust me
But the trust is incomplete
Out of privilege for savage
I become less civilized
When a savage comes to manage
Isn’t it good to stay alive
Good to watch the old campfire
Still proceeds its life, half dead
If the embers can rewire
My old brain, I’d be so glad
Sing our songs of cheap catharsis
Sneer and smile, and tell me please
What you couldn’t, when unconscious
We were us, as close as this..
They rebelled with the ashes of burnt dreams
Each ember - a new beginning
Our ancestors built legacy in their blood
Written in the sacrifices they gave us
Revolution is the wealth they gave us
Freedom and liberation , we were born with the drive
To fight, to survive
Strength is a language only spoken in black tongue
A sacred whisper passed through generations
Reserved only for those who know
Our ancestors, our greatest power
They the foundation, in our continuation
The blueprint of our survival written in the stars
A guide, a light for the chance of freedom
We are universal - the cosmos is on our side
They lay the groundwork, for us to build on
We do this for our next generation
We do this as a continuum
For we are infinite, for we can not be ridden of
she rose slowly as if lying dormant waiting for the match
sparks of yellow and flashy orange
when she had finished, she was embers
they looked harmless, but I discovered she was lying in wait
ready to start another fire
early crisp morning
oak logs crackle as they burn ~
cozy ambiance
campfire flames flare bright
licking high into the night
fingers seek mirrors
to show the utmost delight
the fire wants to share tonight
your eyes catch that glow—
reflecting in afterglow
like rose under chin
shows a warm red glow on skin
a token of love aflame
out beyond what's near
I see blazing stars mirrored
back through time and space
quivering constellations
pulsing with light's energy
flames carve your outline
the darkness has etched you there
to keep for itself
as it unhooks your shadow
so that you float out of reach
somewhere passed the stars
the first light still floods outwards
unchained, unafraid—
I see it in your eyes now
as the place it will return
the light in your eyes
showcases that I share you
with the cosmic light
released from the wood by flames
kindled by our devotion
your eyes hold fire's glow
a warmth only lovers know
is light from first dawn
drifting across starlit skies
as embers gleam in your eyes
embers gleam in your eyes
embers gleam in your eyes
Alas, my heart!
Breathe. Behave.
A saviour awaits your sinking gaze
Too much of your eyes would set it all ablaze.
Bring with you a lamp so bright
Burn my kingdom. Alas, we’d be the only ones alive.
