Begin Again

This is where I begin, words proclaimed to a with a straight face, over and over again
Every day is the same, every day I promise myself that I will change
Easier said than done
I hate that I am so comfortable in my cage
Ive confused numbness with gratitude and have become a master of complacency
But I do dream, dreaming is easier than doing
At least there is a world I can control
I sometimes slide my hands through the invisible railing and draw a line in the sand
Am I putting my foot down yet?
You never hear me

Questions for the clock

“If you were to live forever or die right now, which would you choose?”
That question sat with me all afternoon
I tried to justify living forever
Which is easier said than done
I argued that I haven't lived enough

This book is only a quarter full after all.
The words form a puddle on the ground as they sputter from my mouth,

When I saw my reflection in the puddle
I realized I could die at any given moment
Nothing is promised.

I guaranteed myself just another moment
If I continue to sit here in silence.
If I don't move,
If I just listen,
And breathe
Maybe the clock will think twice before ticking.

Every time I sit, really just sit
I'm reminded that this
is enough
to let it go and just settle
without expectation
but alert awareness
here and now.

Enlightenment, liberation, grace, peace etc.
whatever we call it - the ideal we're aiming for -
isn't a matter of building or achieving
or a process of developing or becoming
it is instead what we naturally have
when we stop the building,
relax the grasping.

Yet it is easier said than done
especially when we're young
and our ability, our habit, our desire
to grasp is so strong.
And so we use that desire
homeopathically
to grasp and really hold
until exhaustion.

And then instead of holding such ideals
and concepts, and methods
so tightly
just let them go.
Or if we must
hold the concept like the reins of
a wind horse
gently, delicately between two fingers
ever ready to release
in this
complete moment.

And simply sit, just sit
and trust that that is enough.

Premium Member Never Be Anxious - Wise Advice

A long time ago
Some wise advice was shared
And it's very helpful for us today.
This is how much the advisor cared.

It's in our human nature
To worry about tomorrow
Especially if in recent times
We've faced challenges, fear and sorrow.

"Never be anxious about the next day."
Easier said than done, well known.
But the wisdom is clear to see because
"Each day has troubles of its own."

Prior to this the great teacher asked,
And reason on this of you can,
"Who of you by being anxious
Can add to your life span?"

And though troubles may seem endless
And with it quite severe,
It is possible not to be overwhelmed
By unhealthy, anxious fear.

These practical words of wisdom
Came from one who knows the best
How calmer you will feel inside
If you put them to the test.

If we can learn to take
Each day as it comes along,
We will find ourselves surprised at how
Following this advice can make us strong.

(Matthew 6:34, 27)

Dream On

'Follow your dream'
easier said than done
as the girl of my dreams
for me she is the only one
and yet for her I don't exist
she sees through me sad to say
don't have what (it) takes her fancy
won't even look my way
as ships which pass in the night
our two hearts will never meet
I find mine's a dead-end dream
on the wrong side of a one-way street

People Like Me

Written By: D. Collins 6/19/25

People like me come far and in between.
Able to document scars that happened to me.
I am not the first nor will I ever be the last.
A black man who brings to life things of the past.

The squablelicious code is in-breaded in me.
Not bowing without a fight is how it will be.
People like me sit from a different view.
Easier said than done if it didn't happen to you.

People like me don't even hold a grudge.
Because where we are is where it always was.
We do cyclical cycles that's been done before.
People like me would prefer something more.

Premium Member spring into it

Spring semester has started.
We’re all immersed in the ritual of change
and totally committed to that descent into madness
to the relentless drabness, the flatness, the blandness
for the hours, days and weeks of study
and a bone-deep fatigue that’s actually funny

We’ll live at the edge of intensity
near the the corner of drudging
and gather around the printer
at the media center
like a secular rite of passage

I think I need a daily grind—to keep my mind busy.
What’s wrong with me, that when I’m on vacation, I miss it?
What if work/study is one of my bone-marrow-deep love languages?

Easier said than done/
Learn how to let go/

Soon to see yourself/
Dig your own hole/

That you're unable to climb out/
Of the grudge hole/

Premium Member not that easy

It is easier said than done!
Can holster hold a loaded gun
for so long to keep silent,
when desires are violent?
It is not that easy to shun!

Premium Member Relax You Say

Relax you say, perhaps easier said than done
Time to let down your hair and go out and have some fun
Stress and tension team up to wage war on all of us
This dynamic duo is not happy unless they create a big fuss
They attack our positive emotions in such a profound and negative way
We can't allow these villains of mayhem to control our days
It is time to stop them in their tracks by fighting back
Take a holiday to an exotic beach and have some fun
They seem powerless against the pristine waters and the gorgeous sun
Go out for a walk breath the nice air, and think only happy vibes
In the end, it is up to us to banish these negative emotions for evermore
We have the means, we just need the desire to boot them out the door

Premium Member Frustration

Why does life have to be so frustrating at times
Trying to eliminate it from our lives is an uphill climb
Imagine a world without it how relaxing life could be
Eliminating frustration is a very daunting task I am sure we all agree
We all experience these unsettling moments from time to time
A traffic jam when you are late for an appointment seems to ignite the reaction, not so fine
We can not change the predicament we are in but we surely can change our reactions to it
I know it is easier said than done but trying to be calm is a better plan than a near-fit
Frustration is stalking us all the time, waiting to attack when we let our guard down
We must learn to cope by finding ways to calm the mind
Make it your mission to go out and see what you can find
One of the best methods to cope is writing a poem
It certainly works for me, maybe I am not alone

Premium Member Silence In My Soul

I was wrong, terribly wrong.
I carried within me
memories of happenings
and rumours of fresh happenings,
that I soon realised
I'll never find peace until
In some profound eternity,
I can silence my soul.

Easier said than done.
For the mind continues delving
into the mysterious story of my life.
Grey clouds overhead
race each other,
threatening thunder.
What strange chemicals do they hide?
I hear the lovely finches twittering.
Are they near extinction?
A hunter's shot: some uselessly die.
I see fields covered with clover.
Do farmers use strange chemicals
to get a better crop? Do animals
who feed on the harvest
contaminate their innards,
so that we eat polluted food?

So my thoughts rumble on,
despite the silence all around.
Why can't I have silence in my soul?

Yesterday Is Gone Feel the Freedom In Your Soul

Moving forward instead of looking back at yesterday, is easier said than done. It takes courage, focus and commitment. Remember that you deserve happiness and peace.

Also, remember that nature doesn't look back. It lives in the present. It lives as though tomorrow is already promised. Stay blessed and take care.

Yesterday is gone
(Feel the freedom in your soul)
By Michelle Morris
28/06/2023

I see you standing there
Head bowed and voice wavering
Tears of regret and sadness
Roll down your face to the ground

But look at where they land
See the beautiful flowers growing there
Magical and dreamy moments
To remind you to have hope and faith

Yesterday is gone
It is history and learning
Tomorrow is not promised
But it's the only thing you can change

Yesterday is over
Learn and heal, grow and evolve
It's time for you to thrive
Embrace your powerful self

It may not be easy
It may take a while yet
But I know that you can do it
You have strength and courage and wisdom

All you have to do
Is remember this when you're down
Feel the power in your choices
Feel the freedom in your soul

Resentment

People say forgive and forget
They say live life without regrets;
I say that's easier said than done
Because vengeance is very fun;
Just forget the pain that's been done unto me
Cause you didn't experience my misery;
If forgiveness makes you strong than I guess I'll always be weak
Because my heart loves payback when awaken that's what she seeks;
What you reap is what you sow
Should I hold in the pain and anger or should I let it show?
Vengeance I love you, but you don't love me
I give you power through my animosity;
I want him to suffer like he made me it's only fair
You can beg me for forgiveness and I still wouldn't care;
Treat others how you want to be treated that's what I was taught
I don't like treating others badly yet that's what you brought;
Vengeance might become my fate
Hopefully I change before it's too late;
Forgiveness is an amazing level of spiritual maturity
I know somewhere inside me want that purity;
It's not over I haven't buried the past
There's no telling how long these feelings will last.
