DUKES

Sacrifices offered in secrecy,
Secrets shrouded in darkness,
Fortunes of families
rose and fell accordingly
to birth a recycling;
New dukes born in duchies,
Many dukes reborn,
Old dukes extinct.
In being a holder of a dukedom
legends are born,
Turned into relics
as they pursue glory & wealth,
power and justice;
Yet, these ends up in vanity
despite trying to hoard their power
so they can be worshipped as

O!  Slip in between!  The Dukes of Darkness,
In this cold part of the year!

The Baron of Night!
The Baron of Wind!
The Baron of Seeds!

When the Copper Trumpet
Bells out, bright and clear!

And men brood the quiet,
Men who have sinned,
And recall their dark deeds.

Is it fear that breeds guilt,
Or is it guilt, that breeds fear?
