Promise land

I don't understand,

This reflection I command.

Nothing goes as planned,

I watch my hopes disband.

Disappointed again and again,

Doing the best I can.

I don't understand,

Unconditional demands,

The grand scheme at hand.

I'm a Tired rubber band,

Ready to snap if I expand,

I couldn't be a better man.

I don't understand,

This plan of a Promise land.

It cost so much I can't stand,

Money feels bad in my hands,

Keeping me trapped to demands,

Testing what I can withstand.

I don't understand,

A way to create it on demand,

Spread it through the mainland.

Ending hungers command,

Letting Love become,

The Promise Land.

Until Saved

We become
what we see
We become
what we make
As damned
or forgiven
We reap
or forsake

Both scripture
and sermon
Prophetic
command
Until saved
by the Word
Our spirits
— disband

When I Break

Author Dana Redricks
April 10, 2024

When I break, I break, there's only so much a woman can take. When I walk out the door you won't be seeing me no more. Like Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall when I fall you won't be able to put me back together again.

In the face of pain, resilience takes its stand, a woman's strength, a force that won't disband. When shattered, like glass on the floor, she'll rise, stronger than before.

Echoes of strife, a past left behind, through storms endured, a new self to find. With each step taken, a path to create, alone but unbroken, I'll navigate my fate.

Soaring high, beyond the past's cry, in solitude's embrace, she'll learn to fly. No more shadows to bind or restrain, her spirit untamed, ready to take my place to reign.

Premium Member The Human Puzzle

Our differences are like the pieces of a puzzle called life,
on an Earth that was once just one land.
To think we were all completely the same,
before we had to disband.

Divinely dispersed by floods, quakes and time
some went east, some south, north and west.
Adapting to climates of heat, cold or rain,
they did for themselves what was best.

Environmental differences were formed to survive,
the natural challenges of life,
A human puzzle whose pieces will not fit,
rubs edges in continuous strife.

If some only knew,
once long ago, we were of the same kind.
All still have a heart, two lungs and limbs.
The variation is in the mind.

My garden soothes my soul each day.
It’s like a place I go to pray.
I use time there to weal sustain.
The sun is free and so is rain.
I need this tiny plot of land,
To help my tensions to disband.

The Chair

To the one who sat here so very long ago
Rooted, I daresay, with so many things to sow
Your needlework is etched upon the faded fabric
Where the story you convey, is interwoven magic

Between the struts and arched divide
Your back you laid, with a family by your side
Each picture on this chair depicts a child you had
And a smiling husband that made you feel so glad

As years move on and life succumbs to change
No longer babes, they're all grown up and in the adult stage
When ceased your work and time you have
To craft upon the chair, those pictures sewn with love

Baby's boots upon the pins, a granny you'll be soon
A time to dress those tiny feet, count toes and really croon
But happiness and loss will at times go hand in hand
Those tears of joy are certain to make the grief disband

You sit and stitch upon this chair, your work so fair and neat
Now the story on this fabric is ended and complete
I wonder at this chair I bought, to see myself sit there
Content with thread and needle, affixed to this old chair

Flight of the Swallow

From the chartreuse scene to a dusty bronze land.
This the sky’s calling for their wings to soar, to disband.
The sun is their shadow, they bathe in her honey-stained glory.
Under the silence of the stars, they never surrender their flight story.

The days are long, they travel beyond all rhyme or reason
This is their journey, in life and in season.
Fragile hearts drum on in tawny twilight.
From feathered soldiers by day, to winged spectres of night.

Come morning, they are ushered, ablaze by warm, crimson skies
In earthly kingdoms below, they are but the envy of every land creature’s eyes.

The compass points north, over mountain and rooftop they climb.
Beyond sun kissed valleys and storm swept seas they glide.
This the tale of the swallow, for in every heart of one, they do lovingly sing.
A voyage of courage is what the swallow bird does bring.

School and Covid 1-7

COVID
Everything I built crumbles.
My job goes under
My friends disband
Some of them drop off the face of the earth
Others dealing with trauma for the first time
Nobody talks to me now but the boy

I move in with the boy
Our relationship is strong
My parents don't like him
I like him

They don't like me living with the boy
Despite the benefits to finances
They cant decide how much support to give me
And give me anxiety instead of stability

The boy graduates
I get one more year
HE and I no longer talk at Holiday
I think HE only comes for the food anyways

I finish school
While the school is still a husk
I didn't gain anything
But a flimsy piece of paper

Looking back
Nobody in the school believed in me
Or even thought of me
On a regular basis
That kinda hurts

I can’t even tell
If I failed the social circles
Or if they failed me
Covid Complicated matters

Dr Pepper

If you pop off like so Duh you’ll get carbonated by the greater leader/
Who’s lewd and balks will infuse and let loose the Dr. pepper/
True shrewd walks through new hues shake up and fizz out/
Who knew soft drink talks brewed late would diffuse and flatten down/
A few could have caught a case while flapping around/
There’s a new juice to use as you grew your own fruits /
To improve clues to truths of uncouth abuse /
How you’ve misused the news and stayed true to loops of untruth/
Life continues in new shoes with cues to choose moves for your crew/
Lives renew his aiming from hereon in we’re here to zero in/
Peer on in at the position I’m a hero in /
I’ve never been as near or within a jeer on sin/
Freer I blend gas and gear up a poster man for my own loved ones/
Disband from that brand with new planned action no acts spun/
Just realism with no love from realization of the matter of faction

Oland

In Oland, where the wind meets the sea,
A love story once began for you and me.
We walked along the shore hand in hand,
Promised to love each other, never to disband.

Old fate had a different plan heretofore,
As you were called to heaven's door.
My heart shattered into a million pieces,
As I struggled to accept life's unpredictable creases.

The memories of our love still linger on,
The sound of your laughter, warmth and charm.
I close my eyes and see you in my dreams,
Hoping that you hear my silent screams.

The island of Oland where our love bloomed,
Now seems empty, dark and doomed.
Sadly I know that you're watching over me,
A guiding light, a star in the endless sea.

In the stillness of the night, I talk to you,
Whispering sweet nothings, hoping you'll hear them too.
For love knows no boundaries, timeless as the sky
In my heart, my tears will cry, why oh lord, why oh why

So here's to the love we once shared,
A memory that will never be impaired.
In Oland, where the wind meets the sea,
I'll love you now and for eternity.
