my cupboards despise me
they are yelping to be clean
There are probably armies of raccoons back in there
They throw potato flakes out when I open them the cupboard doors.
I bet some of my groceries are ten years old
I am piling upon piles, cramming and slamming stuff in
The stuff in the back never gets disturbed
There might be a platoon of cats living back there
It would be super brave to haul it all out and see what I have
I am not that brave
A job for my children
After I am gone
She's so wise and courageous
She's so contagious
She's not everyone's type
She's good and bad
Depends on how you ride
Stay on the tide
She takes no bribe, even if you're her tribe.
She's a God sent
With nice cents
Like she burns insects
She wears unisex
Never urge for sex
She's offset
Don't upset her.
She conscious
She never reap
Where she didn't sow
Even when she's capable
She despise oppression
Whosoever comes in contact with her
Becomes obsessed with her.
It’s pure as fresh snow
and as pale as a ghost.
It’s the shade on the light spectrum
that I loathe the most.
A beluga whale, the milky moon
and the aftermath of bleach
and all my body’s hidden places
just out of the sun’s reach.
It lies on unlined paper
and rests on decaying bones.
On a virginal wedding dress
in the trash, it should be thrown.
A fluffy marshmallow,
billowy clouds and certain rice
just add them to the growing list
of the hue that fails to entice.
I can’t stress this sentiment enough
this tint is truly beastly.
On baby powder, salt, and mayo,
the color white is not for me.
*I wrote this poem on April 6, 2021, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ challenge. This was day 6 and the prompt was: Write a poem inspired by a color. It’s pretty obvious what color I choose from reading my poem, but if you are still stumped after you finish, reread the last line. Thanks, and as always, leave me some love.
Here comes one of those super confident drones, Elephant.
What does he want? Or should I ask who does he want?
He had better not even try to talk to me.
I get my corbicula and leave quickly, as you see.
The queen is short, he is yelling. Only a thousand eggs today!
That could mean death to the old girl; I don’t care in any way.
She has never been friendly to me, so I push off and fly.
Don’t you want to know what happened? Do you want to know why?
We worker bees despise these super confident drones, the men.
It is better in the winter, because they don’t last long then.
But in the summer our life span is five times longer, I am afraid.
I ignore him completely, trying to not fly into any fern or shade.

Arrogance fostered by entitlement
Bigotry in all its forms
Conceit beyond all reasonable norms
Demanding attitude of deferment.
Entitlement, did I mention this?
Forgetting an appointment, indeed
Goofing off on an hourly-wage job
Hearing a disapproving sarcastic hiss.
Intelligence wasted in a trivial pursuit
Junk mail! Junk mail! Junk mail!
Keeping a secret to thwart the police,
Lying to cover up a just lawsuit.
Making fun of another’s creed
Not owning up to a nasty deed.
Openly betraying a friend’s confidence
Pretending coming to another’s defense.
Quitting, leaving a job undone,
Relishing when someone is hurting,
Speaking a lie when you know the truth
Taking what isn’t yours, it’s stealing
Undermining another’s position,
Violating an avowed code of ethics
Withholding some valuable information.
X-rays indicating I have the disease
Young puppies all covered with fleas,
Zealots … spare me, O God, please!

How very much I do despise,
The tyranny of fear and lies.
That throws us at each others throats.
Like rabid, heartless billy-goats.
A stench-filled world, where morality
no longer exists.
The only things honored are thugs
and fists.
Where you are censored, if you do not
follow the crowd.
With their hooves they will stomp you,
If you dare sing your own song
Where jackasses on TV, bray everyday.
Filling our hearts with hopeless, idiotic dismay.
Threats against all freedoms are du jour.
As mindless billy goats do cheer and concur.
Idiotic mandates are freedom's foe.
From a mindless loon in the White House, an
unintelligible schmoe, named Joe?

God said Trump should despise;
When we hear name will arise,
Very annoyed;
Want to avoid,
And he even has his own fries.

it is Trumphry.
I was in a peevish mood when I realized
I have been assigned to be the school counselor at two schools this year.
Always difficult for I have done it before.
Never easy. Lots of extra paperwork which I despise.
Almost impossible to do a good job in this circumstance.
Luckily, yesterday, I sat down next to a counselor whose story is much worse.
After hearing what happened to her, I calmed down a bit
And did not bite the leg off the supervisor who decided these things.
Bras I despise worse than wood ticks in my skin.
Worse than mice turds, even worse than rattle snakes.
I would rather be thrown into a wolf pit than wear one.
Mother smiled at her six-year-old child.
“Not to worry,” she told him. “You are a boy.”
Despise not any life, for no matter how humble its origin may be, still it is by God sanctified!

Do Despise
What is it we should surmise
Those who terrorize
Do despise
May be many ties
Along with their alibis.
Terrorist does this define
Were they out of line
Sun does shine
In position so supine
Do much so they can unwind.
Have heard that the prognosis
Has been pretty precocious
Atrocious
And preposterous
End of what can add to this.
This is a Seven Fife Three Five
Seven format.

I can’t digest it, but I must,
forced to the stepped on and spat on,
my ideals and my thoughts
I see no great dawn,
only the darkness of rage
- accept it I must,
captive in my cage
NO! – accept it I’ll not!
I’ll not live in a cage,
nor will I fear the darkness of rage
nor be stepped on
or spat on or worse,
my pride a gift or maybe a curse
I despise, it I hate it
It hates me back,
these thoughts and ideals,
which ones do I trust?
I despise it I do,
but digest it I must
I RECKON I DESPISE WHEN I COME SECOND
You have no idea how much it hurts when insult comes to beckon
and I realize that no matter what my wishes always come second
there's always a pillar of doubt standing in the way of my devotion
and you are playing with a man with a raw emotion
I ask you to do something but something comes first
and nothing I can think of can feel any worse
knowing that someone comes before me
and it happens repeatedly
I don't ask much, at least that's my belief
and the way you treat me brings nothing but grief
when you need something done I drop everything in favor of you
and i'm tired of the selfish things you do
I could be anxious to have you listen to me
but someone else has you do something benevolently
forget the notion that you should consider my need before all involved
and this is a problem that may never be solved
you can't imagine how badly it makes me feel
when you say “don't worry, it's no big deal”
well to me it's major and I'm tired of being shoved aside
it's a notion this storm of a man can no longer abide
