Fruity Farm Holiday

contest : Alpha Rhymes
sponsor : Joseph May

PLACED 3RD : Standard Contest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
APPLE BLOSSOMS CAUGHT DREAMY EYES
fairy farm was ablaze with fruity trees
gentle breezes swayed laden branches
canaries sang, cows mooed, all at ease
FIGS, GRAPES, HACKBERRY, IMBE, JACKFRUIT
with Turkish splash pool glimmering awaited
tiny tier temple newly whitewashed invited
brass buddha bell and rose garden gated
KITES LAY MOTIONLESS  NOTICEABLY OBVERT
which leisure activity would we choose
as fruity farm holiday commenced covert
like in paradise peacock strutted with goose
PEACH, QUINCE, RASPBERRY, STRAWBERRY TARTS
stole our minds, stomach and hearts
this heavenly place embraced tired souls
stress dissolved in nature’s eloquent role
magenta blaze : specular
eyes dazed by magenta blaze
            skin torn by piercing thorn
                      blood drop tickles zinc hole in morn
she knows her season is done
               a petaling head will droop under afternoon’s Sun
                         abundance is a prime piano note
                              •¥¥•
frugal the piano notes sound
                 her head erect at midday
her season embraces her
                   with blood bleeding through as blush
her skin translucent calls
                       magenta gaze closes lids
Premium Member The colour of greed
How is it that greed
corrodes thus the heart
that so many are willing
to compromise thoughts of afterlife
so easily discarding aspirations
for eternal peace ?
AP: Honorable Mention 2025
A blooming hue
A catepillar veils,
In a colourless shell,
To sprout its hued wings
The prison he calls home
His mind was an abyss
Of emotions
And endless questions
Of the world around him
He wasn't much of a speaker
But he was definitely a thinker
His mind was a safe place
Where he could speak freely
Without being harmed
He hated the outside world
He was scared if he stepped outside
He was afraid the racists might strike
So instead he would hide
In the comfort of the inside
He focused on his survival
And to him that meant control
Even if his mental health took a toll
This fear for a black person was normal
Living life shouldn't be a struggle
But he wasn't even safe in his home
In his dreams his fears wouldn't leave him alone
And when he woke up he was haunted by the nightmares he had come to known
He was also scared to leave his family alone
He was extremely afraid of the unknown
Which led to his need for control
This is what the system does
It instills fear in us
Until our minds have turned to the darkness
And their hatred consumes us
Until we are a shell of what was
And that is one of the ways they kill us
Fantasy on a Rainbow
Sponsor : Constance Le France
Placed 3rd in Contest
     on smooth hot rock I sat in REVERIE
after a HALLUCINATION drink of
mushroom, poppies and truffle
IMAGINATION soared like bald eagle
on high, throwing twin twigs with sigh
up I flew landing on a rainbow in
lucid DREAM ~
saw tinker bell fairies in pastel lace
with mauve daisy hats to face
sucking honeyed cream in wild glee
cherubs singing WHIMSY chorals
skipped to amethyst abode awaiting
dragonflies lighted a willow way
as swans mated on water lily ponds
of petals, elves smiling at bay
secretly inside a Crystal Palace
of chanting High Priestesses pure
sat Lord of VISUALISATION and awe
with blue-green eyes and beard of
silver hay, not all could hither this way
he fed me manna and mango ambrosia
gifted a garland of lotus snow white
a sapphire pen dripping indigo ink
to serpentine scribe enchanting song
on a rainbow in rubied blink !
Black boys deserve flowers too
Black boys deserve flowers too
Black boys deserve flowers too
Not just at their funerals
Not when they're already gone
Not when we are just mourning them
Black boys deserve flowers too
Not just laid at their tombstone
Not just because you feel guilty
Not just because you couldn't love them fully
Black boys deserve flowers too
This is long overdue
They deserve it for just existing
They deserve it when they're hurting
Especially when they are suffering
Black boys deserve flowers too
Even just as a thank you
Even just to say I love you
A way to say I appreciate you
Because black boys deserve flowers too
TELL ME THE COLOUR OF WORDS
Tell me words are red
And I'll tell of the lives
We lose everyday in the middle east
Of the lives in danger in Northern Nigeria
The Sahel, Ukraine, Russian and Syria.
Tell me words are white
And I'll tell you how a world of peace is
I will tell you how you go to bed at ease
And how deeply you sleep
And wake up with peace.
Tell me words are blue
And I'll ask you to come to Freetown
To stare at the Atlantic ocean
And see the might of nature
So blue, so big, so blessed, suffering from excessive heat.
Tell me words are green
The Amazon, the northern Savannah
Trees of different kinds, flowers
Disappearing slowly from the face of earth
For we choose to eat than preserve.
Tell me the colour of words
And I'll paint you a picture
Of grief, of agony and of neglect
Don't expect an image that glows
Not a Mona Lisa but you'll see wonders
Calm and serene as the silent sea
I wear feel of its cerulean waters
Swim in peace in its tranquility
Let go of negative sentiments
To uphold purity and live in harmony.
The Colour Of Peace
You know the colour of peace is white —
And no wonder, white suits you so well.
I live in a world woven with dark,
And in its midst, you shine —
Bright as the moon,
Calm in my chaos,
Light in my night.
I’m really bad with words,
Terrible at saying what I truly feel —
So you might never know…
That you’ve always been my peace.
                                                                  —Beloved
—But if silence could speak, it would whisper your name~
MY YELLOW BUTTERFLY
1st two verses by Mystic Rose Rose ]
(3rd Placing in Contest)
As she drinks nectar from a flower, sweetness from heaven falls like dew
anointed with a gentle rain amidst sun showers she appears as if on cue
Lifting her wings she lands on a Zinnia beneath a tinted sky of April blue
flight of fancy fanning fast, fabulous marvel, she is beauty true on true
Two papyrus thin wings of buttercup yellow
she flutters in and out of my garden Heart
it is freedom she brings, cares not for bellow
I crave to join her, finish my art, baking tarts
Her proboscis deliciously delicately long
into a lonely red rose she inserts it so precise
inspiring me to dance to a super Spring song
her wings like my breath dissipates every vice
Oh Butterfly ! Take me with on your fanciful flight
daisy fields, mountain streams to desired Eden
let’s go where no cares air, just serene sights
fairies composing tunes for whispering women !
