With your bestest friend a sharing, 
Quietly sitting side-by-side, 
Thoughtfully, at simply nothing, staring, 
Just shooting-the-breeze together 
And for each other caring.

Driving Down Memory Lane

I was drivin’ down an old, worn black-top highway, on my way to a funeral.  It was mid-Missouri, and late summer made it hotter’n the dickens outside.  I was thinkin’ there was only a couple of hours left of daylight as I reached over and switched the car’s air conditioner fan up another

To be cherished
To be celebrated, moles, whiskers and faults
To be worthy
To be worthwhile
Should I move planets
Should I move universe
Which one could this be...

Healing touch of cherished things

In quiet dim corners and drawers untouched,
Lie precious things, much cherished and clutched,
These cold inanimate things, just like a friend,
Can ease our troubles, and ill feelings amend.
Each memento and much used everyday things,
Are something special, for the comfort each treasure brings.
It's not just any old clock, that's revered, it's only that one.
With its unique tick

The Waves of Everything Pretty

Air aided in gravel’s travel
Its ricocheting rhythm
Rhythming like the crunch
Of an ocean
The steps of someone
The left and right side 
Sway as incongruent tides
Whatever winds wind up
Within an earshot, it becomes
Tapped in our orbit
Wonders of the world all around
Wondering what it will be like
To be a cherished kind of sound

The Man I Once Cherished

With heavy heart, in depths of sorrow drowned,
I stand, an image of esteem unbound,
A man whom I did raise in high regard,
His truth, alas, has struck me much too hard.

His actions 'gainst my name, a wicked ploy,
To raise himself, my trust he would destroy,
With eagerness, he spun a tale of lies,
To those I cherish, with

In you, dear Mother, my pride resides,
No hate could ever in my heart abide.

Nine months within your loving embrace,
You nurtured me with boundless grace.

You taught me to speak, to write, to stand,

Wind of the past

The autumn that had remained monotonous-
  For many decades,
  Now tears and takes pieces of hearts,
  Along with its old leaves, flowers,
  Leaving a nostalgic scent behind.

 Every preceding winter that warmed people,
 Returned this year, demanding-
 All the warmth that blanketed their memories,

Cherished Angel
A cherished angel with a golden heart
Your wings spread wide apart
So sweet, kind, gentle, loving and caring
With a serene personality, so glaring
  
Your beauty captivates

As we journey through paradise

Cherished is the Night

*I wrote this sonnet some years ago for my wife, who suffers from fibromyalgia since an auto accident in 1995. An anniversary poem

not Aphrodite's vernal ivory skin
nor Cleopatra's jasmine scented hair
could tempt this man to stray in lustful sin
for next to you no beauty can compare

like Tristan who succumbed to Isolde's spell
or Romeo who died

Cherished of Woke Visions

In a cherished of woke visions,
our Lord Jesus Christ gently spoke,
and said, "Feed my people,"
as loaves of bread, fish, and fruit
cascaded down from His blessing hands.
A font of sustenance and love into
infinite wicker baskets.
Us reapers knelt to Him,
as the hungry of the world bowed
their heads in thanksgiving and
feasted at the Lord's endless table. ~

Joy of Life

As I wake up every morning and look in the mirror
I thank my lucky stars I am still here
Another day of life to fulfill all my dreams
To spread joy and happiness to all my fellow human beings 
Show love and respect to everyone you meet
Travelling on a bus gives someone less fortunate your seat

Two years ago you ascended
Heaven became a better place
You made my life a dream
My cherished gift with all your grace
My poetry tells our story
