Notes About The Poem
As with any topic today one needs to take a step back
in order to view ineluctable facts objectively.
No one that’s in the vice grip of the phantasmagorical
changing or shifting, as a scene made up of many elements.
can with a clear and sober mind discern what constitutes LOVE. —SR

"The unexamined life is not worth living" —Socrates   "Only those who love themselves are truly able to cherish & love others" —Taoism

Case No 5-2-26

can it be, equanimity the antidote
a life unexamined, is a life not worth living
self-absorption hears the drum of one
it an ego-driven malfunction

wrong reality rapt in silent adagio
the sponge soaks the water and cannot desiccate
your desires alone illusory, arrogance
leading to aversion, not to confuse with self-love

Oyez soliloquy! (gavel strikes) so hence
primal love you claim to defend—a chimera

Wow. So profound. I want to enter this contest but I don't understand how to do it. Maybe I should re-examine that. You are so talented.

Anaya, this is a very unkind thing to say taking a swipe at me and a dig at the winners. Maybe it would be better for all round if you would sit out my contests. Thank you.

TY! I love my poem & you are not alone Andrea. It's true, too much information is detrimental & overwhelming, especially when the examples chosen are not compliant with the rules. :)

Reminds me of an old poem which I cannot find, from a Amish author "Alone and yet not alone, am I alone in my aloneness" I forget the rest, but this reminded me of this poem. Deep argument, Anaya. <3 :)

Ever heard the term “A hit dog will holler” lol. It may be a southern thing but I love this eloquent write. The quote is like a cherry on top. Just reading this made my consciousness grow! Wow thanks!

wow! I forgot how many lines acceptable, but added a few. This was a little mixy. No, I haven't heard of it, (lol). THAT could be the final philosophical quote, KJ. love it. To paraphrase Shakespeare-- Me thinks ye protested too much. I do not condone violent protest, but we must speak out loud! :) I also like... "A hungry Man Is An Angry Man" I'm hungry to burn & learn~ Thx for a good time, I really appreciate the more southern more real. T.C. we should do a thing on dog quotes "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie" "Three Dog Night" "Snoop Doggy"

The opportunity comes once in a life time. Self-absorbed, Paula has it's benefits, according to Buddhism-Ambition is a goal. While ambition is focused totally on the goal, aspiration never loses sight of either the goal or the means used to attain it. Aspiration allows us to ‘breathe freely’—Buddhist terms. TyVm!
