WINNING THE WAR

In tough action of war crawls the soldier
across the thorny ground riddled with mine,
charges with loaded gun on the shoulder,
revenge and rage in mind sorely combine.

Facing risk of dying any instant
flash of the face of his little daughter
he sees smile in his emotion dormant,
he stows for his mission is to slaughter.

His task is to kill enemy at sight
with hands that fondly caressed the daughter.
Fear of death is killed by the spur to fight,
to live for her, it’s not time to falter.

Become a bold soldier, fight without fear
you’ll live for the loved ones winning the war.

Premium Member Smile If You Have a Winning Hand

Life can mimic a game of chance
It can be grand or awfully bland
Take your stance with a joyful glance
Go ahead and reveal your plans
Smile if you have a winning hand.

A Winning Campaign

In eternity past, God would ordain
a place to which Satan would appertain.
Darkness ruled in this void and vile domain
wherein grief, grudges and greed were germane;
addicted to force, would Lucifer wane?

Outright rebellion goes against God’s grain,
His plan called for a selfless Savior slain.
Demons tried to distract this one in vain;
from the world’s evil, He vowed to abstain
and pledged earthly woes to gladly constrain.

Destined to be a Redeemer who’d reign,
He drained himself of glory, heaven’s gain.
Jesus, the Christ, chose the cross and its pain,
suffering rejection, mankind’s disdain.
Mercy, grace, love and justice, His campaign.

Winning

Kids do not understand how losing works
perhaps they don't know what endeavor means.
Some coaches play around with youngsters' minds
by setting goals which cannot be achieved.

While winning is important it is true
does winning mean one never needs to lose?

Such thinking sets a child at odds with life.
The game of life consists of ups and downs.
The loss one feels today can be the spur
which makes tomorrow's win mean so much more.

I am
A daydreamer
I talk in my sleep
I finish drinking
Before I'll eat

I love others
But hate how they act
I'm a childish mother
With just enough tact

I'll die a rebel
It's in my veins
harmless trouble
Keeps me sain

Morbid thoughts
Keep me spooked
I protect my ears
From Harsh truths

I loathe politics
I don't vote
No difference to me
This book's been wrote

Speaking of books
I'm not a reader
Spare the looks
I'm more of a thinker

I know more than you think
And think more than you know
Like when not to speak
And when it's time to go

I encompass class
It's in my genes
But talk fast
Of inappropriate things

Yeah I got issues
But you've got em too
My wit won't lose
A battle with you

Up for a challenge
Give it a shot
I won't flinch or cringe
As you talk

But at the close
I'll begin
And goodness knows
I always win

Losing But Winning

To love something or someone so much comes with a lot of happiness and pain

It comes with a lot of happiness because you finally feel like you have a worth. You have to fight for. You have something to believe in….

But it comes with pain because once you decide to take it away it leaves a giant whole in a heart that can't be filled with no one else

It's hard to smile when you have so much pain.

It hard to fight when you feel like you are losing the war

And it is hard to feel love when it's been ripped away from you…

But I want you to know that it is ok to be sad

It's ok to be depressed

And it's ok to relax for a while

But what isn't ok is to give up

To call it quits

To bring yourself down

You have to fight

You need to fight

I need you to fight with every breath….

They need you to fight with every breath….

But just remember this always…

You don't have to fight alone….

Because I am here….

For you

Premium Member A Winning Combination

A blank page is
An opportunity
A fresh start
A challenge

A new pen Is
full of itself
Ready to show off
Ready to dance

A writer is
Eager to begin
Excited about all kinds of things other people may miss
Enthusiastic about the little things

A muse is
Imagination on speed
Thrilled to be asked
Willing to have fun

Winning Is Not Everything

triplets in rhyme

Just need two under par
I've mastered this shot
and my partners will lose.

One is my only son,
and a friend from college.
Fond memory's my muse.

Soar among the Eagles!
I'll let my soul sing,
their spirits to bolster.

I let loose measured stroke.
My eagle's in flight
soaring t'wards a bunker.

Premium Member Winning the Lottery

If I won the lottery today,
I would shout "Hip, hip, hooray!"
It would be a miracle, no doubt,
If it really came about,
As I've not bought a ticket to play.

Premium Member Get That Winning Smile

If you're out on the town
Your date gives you a frown
'Cuz you smiled at the fellow
But your teeth were all yellow

Don't you wait one more night
Go and grab some "Crest Whites"
Makes your teeth white and clean
So your smile can be seen

Don't embarrass yourself
It's now on the store shelf
Get a smile that's brand new
And your date will thank you

Harsh words impugn if slung in hate
and rip apart a calloused heart.
Expressed regret cannot abate
the pain that permeates our slate.

It's best to stop and take apart
the wagon which has run amuck.
Affix new wheels upon the cart
then shove ahead to a fresh start.

Deep in the mire, our tires are stuck.
Pitch us a chain and yank them out,
and with a teeny grain of luck,
no one perceives our coat of muck.

For friendship wields a mighty clout,
true aid from friends will spread a path.
If fortune bleeds toward that route,
the winner's bell will ring throughout.

Eh, Pal What Are Your Chances of Winning

Eh, pal what are your chances of winning?
Ah, you could have banked all this saving
for an early retirement...
to cherish that sentiment!
When you're completely broke, start cringing!

Winning the Lottery

Winning the Lottery

Yes, I dream of winning the Lottery,
Hitting the jackpot on a Saturday night.
Oh, it’s so wonderful to imagine,
So, I cross my fingers and hold them tight.

Our George bemoans his bad luck,
All these years, not even a Tenner.
He told me that a couple from up Orkney,
Won Five million, Mr and Mrs Jenner.

Now I don’t want a fortune,
Just to be comfortable, would be nice.
I could buy me a shiny new sports job,
Without thinking about it twice.

A holiday to the Island of Barbados,
Under tropical skies, that sounds grand.
Or perhaps a Mediterranean cruise,
Lazing on deck, getting tanned.

I would have to update my wardrobe,
With a suit from Ralph Lauren.
A few shirts with the label of Versace,
Oh, and Designer shoes by Donna Karan.

We may have to move from the terrace,
Buy a cottage in the countryside.
Or better still a bungalow by the sea,
With a Veranda, to sit watching the tide.

I could afford to have Guitar lessons,
Learn to play blues like Jimmy Page.
Imagine that, me becoming a rock star,
With adoring groupies at front of stage.

Now, I won’t see our Emily go short,
and I’ll give a bit to John and Jilly.
I’d better return Danny’s Lawnmower,
and give that borrowed Twenty back to Billy.

I could retire and take it easy,
No more working long shifts over-night,
Slaving for that Miserly McGregor,
He’s loaded but so flaming tight.

In truth, I’d leave without notice,
And tell him just where to stick it.
My wife say’s stop daydreaming Jim
You’ve never even bought a ticket.
