Premium Member Three Teeth

three incisor teeth burst through fresh flesh...
opaque as pearls, strong as love, precious

beautiful baby babbles assertively
mesmerized by mishmash sounds
that her astounding mouth can make
prose poetry in its practice

as canines erupt, she moans from the ache
teeter-tottering restless to repress pain
speedily advancing in substantial strength
distracted by oblivious destructiveness

a significant stepping stone approaches
as a capable kindergarten adult
she wiggles loose her first baby tooth
receives a rich reward from a fantasy fairy

more teeth disappear like pressed piano keys
then return acutely out of tune
braces displace awkward half grins
an investment of finances and adolescence

unstoppable with seducing sweets
she sneaks cuddly candy under covers
falling asleep with sugar plum dreams
not counting a few costly cavities

free-spirited, experimental teen
meets Christina on the street
samples compelling quartz crystal
returns for seconds, as someone else disguised

mesmerized by mishmash sounds
that her astounding mouth can make
speedily advancing in substantial strength
she lucently levitates to a loftier place

a magnificent mind babbles assertively
sweeping the streets of pixie dust
no need to eat or sleep
like a firefly in heat, she dances frantically

teeter-tottering restless to repress pain
distracted by oblivious destructiveness
she visualizes voices that vivify the way
to the day's salacious survival guide

prismic vision's shimmers no longer satisfy
cotton candy granules' sweetness subsides
coming down from kaleidoscopic clouds
half-awake, she moans from the ache

shrill shrieks portray poetry's unspoken pain
death's drab projection is her heartless reflection
hocking heirlooms to trade for a transient thrill
a despondent inhabitant of tragedy

creepy crawlers invade every inch of skin
her thin figure balances a skull's shadow
irretrievable, ill-treated teeth crumble
like the city's plundered storefront windows

filthy, for granted, forlorn, fast-fading
...three feeble canine teeth remain

A Panegyric Tale of Love

Neath shimmered strings of starlight’s breeze, crepuscular in night
on trodden soil he lay with slumbered eyes.
Lashed to oak, his chestnut mare in dream just out of sight
snaps free as lightning flashes; flares the skies.

Bounds to foot with double stride; yet late his capture earns
a feeble grip on equine hoof afoot,
his trusty steed, as mist might drift through juvenile sown ferns,
has vanished like dark ebbing motes of soot.

Miles from home, no transit back, bewildered by events
considers how to forge his journey home,
perplexing state, a quandary, unravels and presents
the only choice he has, which is to roam.

Through thicket thick, forest green, cross arid plains of dust
unto the homestead poised for his return,
discordant thunder stills his heart; wriggles in as thrust
compels him, for he knows they too do yearn.

For passage spry and safe, and quiescent nights on swag
now rolls his bed with reins onto his back;
through sheathes of rain, in startled fright, a lonely Sambar stag
hoof striking ground, preparing to attack.

Muzzles drawn, the beast is felled yet antlers gore both arms
as motion peters awkwardly apace,
bandages his wounded wings as parent-like alarms
resound upon the visage of a face.

Hidden by the brush, the physiognomy not seen
now trundles to its father’s fallen side,
its death is beyond doubt, lest his hand does intervene
to raise the fawn the way the buck had tried.

A careful snouted nudge from the fawn as sunup blooms
arises him from sleep, but only just,
passes over arid plains then through the vista looms
the iron gates of home bedimmed by dust.

Collapses through the gates on the soiree of her birth
returning home disheveled and delayed,
bent on being present so she’d never know a dearth
of every night, his whispered serenade.

Strength, in time, would vivify, recouping over weeks
the erred reason for his sullied trip,
remains on blocks, left un-repaired, despoiled by the leaks
and placed the fawn forever by her hip.

Eyes well up recalling, every year from that day on
his little girl’s elated monkeyshines,
when the gown was given her, how happiness had shone
into his heart his journey’s worth entwines.

In the myriad map of the skies,
Bright lights twinkle before my eyes;
Lost among the almighty maze,
I marvel to identify star from haze.

Do the celestial sparkles stand or move?
Those twinkling lights so hard to prove,
Seem to stretch and mysteriously change,
Perhaps slight cloud passing by strange.

I concentrate and signs vivify aloft,
The night is warm, the air is soft;
As I strain to look past the breeze,
I almost believe stars tell destinies.

O Muslim

Muslim who influenced by westernize,
Lost name and Identity, drowned in Occidentalize,
Got accuse of terror and blame of activist,
Oh the Muslim, thou lost thy illuminant,

Thou turn away face from lessons of Quran,
Ever thou remembered the moral of surah Aal-e-Imran,
Betrayed thy self through curse deed,
The Almighty bondman what’s thee need,

Lead thou self toward astray,
Turned attention to infidel way,
Forgotten the worry of last abode,
Repent thy sins by viewing this ode,

Eager thyself of virtue, thirst of hay,
Inertial thought turns thou rough and clay,
Vivify thy self, You the Muslim and still alive,
Strong enough as the pillar of five,
Worldly life is not more than amusement and joy,
Be prepare for hereafter, as you have to die.

Yellow Daffodils

Out into the garden I would go,
To smell the perfumed daffodil,
When I would begin to throw,
My feelings in full intent and will.

Thy delicacy evades description,
But I know that it does not,
Since thou art nature’s solicitation,
Evolution’s prime living pot.

So bold a plane will surface me,
Tender me until I cannot hide,
Playfully withdraw my sobriety,
Until I am able to myself abide.

With thee, I know humankind’s bleeds,
And from Wordsworth, king and pundit,
And my gratitude to him intercedes,
The bitterness of god’s gambit.

Sweet daffodils, thou givest memory,
As the master nobly concluded,
Because that moment thou didst vivify,
Is brought back whenever regarded.

"Ennui Sets In”

Whenever pen is placed
Between purloined phalanges,
When my mind unfolds and tears along the seams,
I know it’s time to move my thoughts,
Through the underground;
That dark crusty void
Of dreary dreams diminished,
Where loose hell raisers floss and shine,
Comb and spray,
As drowning voices backwash yesterday’s histrionics,
Dark-eyed winches peek through the
Centers of dead doughnuts;
Bleacher seats rust and wallow
In half-moon emancipation,
Ennui sets in…
My bow tie knows all the answers.
I cry and beseech for all those tomorrows
To resurrect, to pontificate, to loose
The bowels of screaming sunsets, yet sutured.
I flinch. I sigh.
Force majeure got in the way.
Polka dot panacea,
Wretched weasels in the underbrush,
Prufrock is the metaphor to mangle, impugn, vivify,
And otherwise squeeze until the cows come home.
I’m a poet without a message.
My heart pumps vexations of vaseline,
I am dry and empty
Like the musty moans of sweet madness,
Emanating elusively
From the hollow of ancient days,
Amidst unanswered questions,
At the fork in the road,
Two blocks northwest of my last dying breath,
I am the last sunset!
Ennui sets in.
Twilight vivisection holds the door open this time.
There is no respite,
From Raphael’s regurgitated Renaissance.
He jumps backward,
Through the darkening dissonance,
Dissolved, dismayed, dumbfounded.
Skipper Frank lies dead in the glittering gutter.
The Pancake Man melts into the waxworks.
Madame Tussaud wonders why.
Ennui sets in.
Dead meat saliva feeding
The roses of Robespierre.
Little Lord Fauntleroy is mixing martinis, and
A dozen dainty dames are dancing
Past the midnight of my time.
A blue trumpet, buzzing in the steamy shadows.
Lapping corpses line the phosphoric hillsides;
It’s not what it appears to be.
Truth and beauty perceived in the morning mirror.
Ennui sets in.

Premium Member Hemlock Park Loons

When fog creeps in to sheathe
			the point, obscuring paths
			among the brush, unseen loons,
			hallooing one another,
			map out this realm
			of hemlock, rock, and water.

			Loon cries vivify fireside
			conjuring, old camper’s tales,
			for the point’s new children:
			they glimpse fabled elders,
			conveyers of craft and lore
who made a mile or more
			of winding roadway through
			cut and cultivated trees.

			Loon cries reassure us
as we sit in circled peace.
The birds know where they are
			and so do we.

Premium Member A Mother's Lullaby

As sunset starts to prophesy
And kaleidoscopically vivify,
The day's agonies mollify--
To Sweet Mother's lullaby!

Ages have gone since the dawn,
But time still moves on and on;
Night lures as strength is gone,
And all fears have withdrawn.

This ancient song I know well;
Is one that memory will retell,
When the sky's once more pastel,
And blooms blush in the dell!

Sweet Mother, she sings to me,
Exotic nightingale rhapsody!
Like the moonlight on the sea,
No one's lovelier than she.

Since gold sunrise first began,
She would always help me stand;
A symphony of the heart's at hand--
For it's where all love began!

Scarlet Poetry

You are the crimson surge
I am your crimson desire
The bird radiates a crimson urge
Comes about the sapphire

You vivify the respirations
I deeply breathe your mist
Following the crimson inhalations
Comes about the crimson twist

Thank God that I got the life
And enjoy the crimson strife

Alive, Alive O

To look around the corner of a time, a hovering,
and know that there is more, a gathered mist
of portent stealing comfort, roiling waters
calmed amid the dust trails of a heritage
that didn't want to be disturbed—
there's incentive for another breath,
another setback for the march of death
along the pathway of a life
that only stopped to wonder
just a while ago.

It is Molly Malone who calls us
past the curtain of the years, imploring
with a voice heard only as an echo,
as a haunting fantasy, perhaps
encrusted sentiment that moment
in the Dublin fog where we thought
we saw her there again.
How curious the parallel
that we would long to bring her back,

for it is history in all its darkness
that congeals into a strange nostalgia,
speaks in distant cries that it is we
who vivify the murky ghosts—
who see ourselves alive in Molly's shade!

It is the gentle earth that feeds us.
Consuming and consumed we share
an immortality we do not understand;
we are gifted, rising from the sea
no more confined, and still we hear
across the ages, Molly's cry
assuring us we do not die,
her voice across the square we know,
"Cockles...and mussels alive, alive O..."
                 ~

Premium Member The Pain, the Joy Love Brings

To love is a pain that the living must bear!
And I selfishly cling to the thought that you might
Find a spot in your heart where gain purchased holds fast,
(Though lost love is implicit in everyone's past.)
If two hearts playing dice have a ghost of a chance,
It requires both have training and know how to dance,
It takes more than intention to keep love in sight,
And it's fit that love's more than the right clothes to wear!

Love felt is a joy that a heart will die for,
Warms the gut just like schnapps in the bitterest cold
Though love can be illusion, the depth of it speaks
To the height of man's fancy, a second lasts weeks.
Colors vivify soul like the presence of God,
But when locked in such rapture, it's fore-life that's odd!
An apartment's a palace; your part won't grow old.
For love humbles the rich and brings Grace to the poor!
