Best Side Poems
to my kindred soul
...i know you are out there
somewhere on the other side
across cobblestone streets
that scorn my feet, like hearts
on the pathways and wrong turns
of so called love
i've been kissed
but not by your lips
nor with the same passion
as the skies at dawn
i've been wrapped
in the contours of arms
much like the bitter winds
of autumn's sweeping nights
shivering beneath the touches
that left me stranded
on the journey towards you
i hold you in my dreams
on the other side of streams
where tears trickle over the rocks
and the dams hold me back
i searched for you
beneath the lambent moon
through shadows on alleyways
always losing sight
in the harrows of night
i've danced
silently with death
in silhouettes
upon mind's walls
always breaking free
running away, lost
on these sidewalks
of chalked thoughts
yet sometimes i wonder
had i held his hand
would he have led me to you
in another place
another time
does fate await our destiny
on the other side of life...
i still search for you
down cobblestone streets
through the passages of time
as it shifts beneath my feet
stranded, alone
until we meet....
inside my dreams

You say, I’m too far,
towards the far side?
It’s a hazard of my left-handedness,
that I see the logic in abstraction.
Worlds lay within worlds
and colors bleed personality;
Oh, it may be distasteful
in the world of mathematics
to give a square five sides;
not in my world,
it’s a box with the lid open.
Into that box I pour
my imaginings,
things that only I can see
of which, some folks display
their jealousy;
they accuse me of being backwards,
of not following the rules.
In my world, rules are
shades of grey,
monotone
monotony,
my imagination
does not obey.
No one tells me that
a cow can’t be purple,
that clouds can’t speak
or that you can’t draw the
invisible realms.
Step into my guitar and dance,
it’s playing itself for you.
I’m an original, you see
and I travel in
imagination’s zone.
Silence?
or
is that a cry
I hear
Screams?
or
is that
memories
hiding?
Wall
yes I listen
to a wall
days
weeks
forever
A white wall
stares back at me
curiosity mounts
I feel the wall
whiteness
blinds me
My heart stops
a rhythm
still
dances
ah
a smile crashes
into me
two
yes two hearts
one
wall
The Dark Side of October
Late October moon is waking, through this cemetery shaking,
shaking as the cold wind breaking, walking ‘neath an old oak tree.
Stones like sentries undertaking, guarding graves as hearts are aching,
aching for the still ones staking, such an eerie sight to see –
dark and dreary, I’m so leery, such an eerie sight to see –
is this but a reverie?
In the graveyard shadows shimmer, dark of night is growing dimmer,
dimmer still without a glimmer, shadows ‘round the old oak tree.
Shadows dancing ever nearer, nearer still and getting clearer,
clearer like distorted mirror, twisting ghastly sight to see –
growing vastly, looming lastly, such a ghastly sight to see –
certainly a reverie?
Piercing sounds are penetrating, ear drums deafening pulsating,
ringing louder, devastating, echoes off the old oak tree.
Echoes bouncing screeching grating, ever louder agitating,
instigating, fears creating, from this ghoulish sight to see –
Am I mulish, maybe foolish, such a ghoulish sight to see –
surely just a reverie?
In the dark my head is spinning, round and round these sights imprinting,
fusing on my brain beginning, questioning my sanity.
All these sights and sounds are weighing, weighing as the ghouls are playing
playing as they do their preying, preying on my vanity –
I am praying, ghouls are swaying, preying on my vanity –
have I lost my sanity?
Eerie night just seems persisting, lasting as my mind is twisting,
waiting for daylight’s assisting, lighting up the old oak tree.
Eerie sights and sounds now fading, dark of night for daylight trading,
light of day is now invading, leaving me to clearly see –
seeing nearly, life so dearly, oh so clearly now I see –
must have been a reverie…..
or have I lost my sanity?

(A Villanelle)
The winter’s dismal path is long and gray,
a never-ending march of cheerless dark
with skies whose colors bleach in dull array
where forest scene gives one a true display
and leafless limbs provide a raptors' park.
The winter’s dismal path is long and gray,
and through the open grove a new ballet
of life and death beneath the brittle bark
and skies whose colors bleach in dull array.
A wind unites with rain while leaves decay;
each limb begins to dance a graceful arc
in winter’s dismal path so long and gray
till snow appears and hides the hunter's prey.
New scenes occur of softer landscape mark,
tame skies whose colors bleach in dull array.
Resplendent white now blankets to allay
our thirst for beauty with a lustrous lark.
The winter's dismal path is long and gray,
with skies whose colors bleach in dull array.
The Summer sun shimmered upon the lake.
Sunny-side up, the sky, the brightest soak.
Its reflection - a breathing space intake.
Stay on the path for its easy, light yolk.
The darker side, with two-sail boat, deep sighs.
In awe of ebb and flow, in Spirit’s glide.
In the shadow of God, in morning rise,
before your chores call you - a soothing ride.
Serenity is deep and wide. A smile
of warmth before the Fall. Glass eyes glisten.
Your heart, is calm, in solitude. Do wile
away the day, to soothing splash. Listen…
Lax days, upon the sea and sky, compose.
You hide in God’s glory - swaddled shadows.
It's a nightmare down on Elm Street. Satan's waiting here at home.
Where's that little Freddy Krueger with his nails of sharpened chrome?
And that dearest Michael Myers, as he's always sure to call?
Halloween won't be so keen without some slashers in the hall.
They're all meeting up with Jason and the other demon spawn
to pay Old Scratch a visit, so I'll leave the porch light on.
I'm your sugar devil daddy and I'll tempt you if I can,
so now open up those goody bags, cause I'm your candy man.
Welcome, all you little zombies. Here, I've got some flesh for you!
It's in a candy wrapper and so much easier to chew.
Just hold out your plastic treat bag, and hold off eating me.
The junk I'm gonna give you tastes much better than my knee.
It's so loaded up with sugar, you'll be bouncing off the walls.
So go ahead and gorge yourselves and fill the bathroom stalls.
Kneel before the porcelain god or use the toilet sink.
You can always use the practice now, for later when you drink.
You can't take a piece of healthy fruit or any home-made treat.
The media have made damn sure it's only junk food that you'll eat.
So celebrate my holiday and consume till it's obscene.
Welcome into my domain... and Happy Halloween!

Loving you is easy as the heart sings into your heaven
Come kiss me sugar before the snow melts
Stunning visions before the mirrors a flame sparks
As two white doves in eternal faithfulness weld us together
Standing an adoring torch within a breathtaking ray of sunlight
Dreams that were answered, within soft tenderness beauty and love
Always when you enter number one smiles
Love's paradise ruby wine flows warm
I will forever find you interesting sweet dreams
as you make me forget everything that lies behind
Many moons searching distant horizons
Coming out slowly from the light my dear
As I stared into the stars thoughts within you entered
Brilliant beauty a miracle dawns new horizons
Darling captivating your precious light holds me
Each time seeing you is like I have known you a lifetime beyond anything
We travel down the starlit path only for eternity
Heaven's whisper creating our future and dreams

(unrhymed couplets)
Suspended in a world sublime
on the other side of time
No clocks to spin the world away
I can stay and play all day
When thoughts are free to fly and soar
and never leave me wanting more
I am a bird on feathered wing
with songs of love to chirp and sing
No fear of coming dread or doom
For I’ve not even left my room
And yet the world is at my feet
the wonder of it all to greet
So easy is it then to rhyme
on the other side of time
no challenges to duck and twist
instead, a calming seaside mist
For here the land in which I dwell
is mine alone to write and spell
So I shall linger in the sun
at least until the coffee’s done!
Death kissed me on the cheek
and said I could remain
I still had time to keep
but she’d be back again
For death she is a woman
A fickle fearsome foe
There amidst the shadows
Impossible to know
I said “You’re not my lover”
She sneered, “But I’m still death.
One day I’ll come to take you
when you breathe your final breath
“I am not afraid of you.
No I will not hide.
There is another life to live
on the other side.”

Now Y'all have had embarrassing moments that happen to you.
Well, I had some myself that I thought I'd share that are true.
Ahh, the humorous side to my country life for me.
From one day to the next I never know where it will take me.
Once I was out doing my yard work content and happy you see.
When all at once the farmers pony was running after me.
From time to time his peacocks and turkeys head over my way.
And a stubborn old goat will definitely ruin ones day.
I've even had to deal with a bee flying up my shorts as I ran around.
Because my lawn mower ran over his hive in the ground.
Once a mouse climbed inside my nightie while watching t.v.
And a farm rat on steroids hid in the bathroom looking up at me.
But I think the funniest thing to happen to me I'd say....
Is when I backed my butt into the electric fence one day!
I let out a holler and laughed then and now.
My what a relief no one saw but the big old brown cow...lol
** Hope y'all can see it's not always a peaceful day in the country for me!...:)
weather-beaten sign
driven down in dying weeds
forsaken headstone
oh nameless, forgotten soul
the Savior knows who you are
I could not write poetry
till I was brain damaged
a life of shame, abuse
no good to anyone, oh yes and of no use
hiding behind the dark side of you.
Memories dreams are of that time,
many a mile we accomplished
amongst the grey stones
the bricks the muck
hiding behind the dark side of you.
I use to spend many hours
just looking for inspiration at the sky the ocean,
hear the rushing water
and in simplicity feel the gentle rain
hiding behind the dark side of you.
Why oh why should I wear this affliction
I’ve been many things in my life
that, which never stops creaking
lives here in one’s head
hiding behind the dark side of you.
Yesterday’s events were so different
penetrated my head my heart my soul
regarding earth’s greatest feats,
mainly war and of its dead
hiding behind the dark side of you.
The media’s strength used by the subtle
Oh! The mind control
tuned to sporadic applause
swells admiration for their efforts
hiding behind the dark side of you.
Truth complemented occasionally
then smashed into smithereens,
the pieces in abundance
having lived a life of torment
hiding behind the dark side of you.
Oh Soup! Quiet haven away from it all
aids to adorn my memories, just,
love, one hears and reads about every single day
helps no doubt this victim of society’s goals
hiding behind the dark side of you.

Let's go through the rules for having a side chick
I know a lot of people won't like this
A few guys get one, when their relationship starts to get strain
Make sure you save your side chicks number under a mans name
Delete all messages that may look suspicious
Text her like she's a friend, don't put any kisses
Don't fall in love or try to fulfill all her wishes
Always remember she's nothing but a mistress
Never buy a present for a side chick
Only give her a present if your main girl didn't like it
Never spend time with her on Christmas or an important day
Cause she's just meant for fun, she's not meant to stay
Don't slip away from quality time with your main girl, to contact her
Your main girl is your priority, your side chick doesn't matter
If you've got a girl you adore and are happy with where your life is
Then you're dumb if you go and get a side chick
I witnessed pure love spilled out in front of me
I watched him caressed her lovely face,
a tenderness of his touch eased her distress.
I heard him spoke of their love,
and the melody of his voice gave her strength to gaze at him awhile.
I saw his hazel eyes filled with unconditional love overshadowing the sadness creeping up behind his voice whilst a smile never left his face.
I knew then what the true meaning of love,
she’s the everything that matter to him!
She lay there,
motionless!
Brown eyes focused only on him,
and I glimpsed deep into her brown eyes,
her soul yearning to reach out to him,
wanting to speak of her unconditional love.
But in spite of her condition,
her love for him is written all over her lovely face.
Never fade never halt,
pure love shine on.
I knew then what a true love is,
He’s the reason she’s still breathing!
Through smile they communicate.
Holding hands they are forever one,
love embraced them peacefully,
forever side by side...
