Broken In Me Reigns
There is a place from deep within
where I hide my hearts pains.
A darkened room off by itself
where the broken in me reigns.
The hinges all rusted in place
where seldom is love spoken.
Still the hurts they come and go
the windows are all broken.
On rainy days it seems set free
those memories all roam.
Then late at night again alone
it seems they all come home.
There were times much younger then
I couldn't stop them but I'd try.
Older now and wiser too
I hang my head and cry.
For you can't let go of certain things
that life has put you through.
It's just no use to let go
when it's holding on to you.
So if you see I've lost my smile
tears are what remains.
It's just I've slipped off by myself
where the broken in me reigns.

A Joint Poem by Brian Johnston and Abekah Emmanuel
She said:
Did you really understand what I just said?
He said:
If I didn't understand my misunderstanding was so complete that I did not understand that I did not understand!
She said:
Amusingly amazing misunderstanding!
He said:
So you understand my confusion? I am so glad that someone does! You know dear this could be a poem. It clears up so many things!
Aside to reader:
And might even contribute to my getting some... peace that is, a little later on. [Wink, Wink]

I searched for the answer
to a question I dared to ask
wondering why people hide
behind so many masks.
The query was this:
"What's happened to integrity
when honesty is replaced
with deceit and insincerity?"
I had several insightful answers
but was left in grim despair
when i realized that so few noticed,
or perhaps they just didn't care.
It's indicative of the times
in which the world now exists;
one in which deception reigns
with belligerence and raised fists.
There’s a horse under
the Weeping Cherry.
And the Sky is Crying
too.
I’m sad that I’m happy today.
The new greens are sprouting.
It’s Spring.
The upwelling tears are spouting.
It’s Nothing.
In the shade garden the hellebores -
each a dim-lit, dusty burgundy banker’s lamp -
refuse to face the smalling Sun.
Twin Bleeding Hearts rise
in lone vigor, drizzle-damp.
In the next room, of course,
the Farmhouse Sink
is Dripping.
As it ever will.
As it ever was.
As it ever has.
As it ever shall.
As I ever will.
The day dawn breaks; the shadows are nowhere in sight.
The earth quakes; Angels came into sight.
Mary came to anoint her Lord.
Peter and John ran to the tomb in search of their Lord.
Know ye not that tomb is empty?
Behold, it is empty!
Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here; He is risen from the dead.
The great redeemer died to make a way;
He resurrected and became the way.
He came to show the way
That man may not go astray.
He came that man may learn to forgive;
He died that man may live.
He died and took our sins away;
A reconciliation that turn the night to day.
He died in shame to conquer death;
He lives in glory and reigns above death.
Oh, what songs of the heart sang by the early saints.
Sweet hosanna filled the mouth of latter saints.
When Darkness Reigns, Depths Of Sorrow Increase
Lo, with sad heart I write, "This soul in tears
With burning pains spread throughout,
Too oft now sleeps with dreadful fears."
Tho' this mind seeks to find joy yet again
To quell dark storms all about,
Life and Fate shortens my remaining years.
Shall I, of my father's flesh and bones,
Fall into cold gray ash and bitter dust?
Walk this field of grief and cold stones,
Stumble and fall in pitiful sorrow again
Abandon all my life's previous trust,
wallow in despair, wail with anguished moans?
Nature tells me to rise and thus survive
Embrace great courage of ancestors now gone,
Hold faith in sweet promise of being alive.
And journey forth on true path again
Whereas, in darkness I find no way to atone,
Nor the power to live well and thrive.
Lo, with sad heart I write, "This soul in tears
With burning pains spread throughout,
Too oft now sleeps with dreadful fears."
Tho' this mind seeks to find joy yet again
To quell dark storms all about,
Life and Fate shortens my remaining years.

The skies fall with jewels
In gardens digging with tools
Blessed by the blossom
It seems like I've been waiting for you for a lifetime,
I almost had given up all hope, I was well past my prime.
When you finally came you took me by total surpise,
I noticed you and what I saw was genuine, no disguise.
I think of you often and you're the center of my dreams,
Loving you makes everything good, we're the team of teams.
You make me feel like a queen and then some,
I am Queen you're a King, love reigns in our kingdom.
When gray waters of June moan…one last time
Near the dimming edge of our isle, offshore--
How so many stars tremble quite sublime
For this clutch of demise gushes its pour.
Near the dimming edge of our isle, offshore
I summon the fighter in me… Wake wake!
For this clutch of demise gushes its pour-
To ignite kiln of hope ‘s flame , and not quake.
I summon the fighter in me … Wake wake!
As courage prevails nudging my bruised soul…
To ignite kiln of hope’s flame , and not quake,
Entombing young brother… down in the knoll.
As courage prevails, nudging my bruised soul,
The deepened cry of goodbye washes the day
Entombing young brother… down in the knoll,
Yet God's light reigns, my angst ebbing away.
The deepened cry of goodbye washes the day...
How so many stars tremble quite sublime
Yet God's light reigns, my angst ebbing away--
When gray waters of June moan…one last time.
Let me inhale the perfume of your thoughts
Unwinding the moment and releasing the pain
Let my love fall on you, like gentle rain
In That Magical Moment, Stars Align, Happiness Reigns
In that magical inner sanctum where heart truly sees
far more than the banks and eddies of the rivers we swim
there colors of Life in vibrant idiosyncrasies
far exceed and outshine saddest gasps of our fleshly whims.
In that magical realm, one's soul may meditate and grasp
wake new morn, to mortal breath and Cosmos Fated decrees
embrace Hope with knowledge that we need to finally clasp
firmly true love of Life in earth's many bountiful seas.
In that magical sight, dreams may gift deeper countenance
of the many deeply blinded trails we foolishly tread
setting us on sweet paths of Light and blessed sustenance
wake us to reality, Life ends not when we are dead!
In that magical moment, stars align, happiness reigns
We can find anew Faith, Light and Love gifts eternal gains!

Sonnet, ( Looking past the black cloud that storms against us )
Note: New day, morn says yesterday's footprints are dusty
reminders that life continues ever onward, despite our worries
and too oft overblown fears. Fate will not be thwarted, and
what will be- will be..
Our God Reigns…
Our God reigns in the heaven’s above!
Behold the mighty works of his power and love!
Our God reigns in the mountains on high!
His power reaches down to the deserts so dry!
Our God reigns on his heavenly throne!
He wants to be the Lord of our hearts and homes!
Our God reigns over the majestic seas!
His creation is magnificent! This you can see!
Our God reigns over governments here on earth.
He gave his son, so we can have a “new birth.”
Our God is mighty! Everyone shall kneel before him!
He longs for us to worship and adore him!
Our God has made a mansion for you in heaven.
He wants to be your God! Won’t you let him?
Our God stands knocking at your heart’s door.
Won’t you let him in? What are you waiting for?
By Jim Pemberton
There at the gateway
To Heaven or hell
They come
When their living is done
To eternally sleep
Beneath the black clouds
That seep
Like ink
On a satin white sheet
Where the Raven stands
With a gun in her hand
Long tresses cascading in black
To touch the back
Of that plume-like gown
Of tiered layers
That fall to the ground
~~~~~
Of in the distance
There in the light
That boarders
The brink of night
Birds of a feather
Circle together
Screaming their song
Of fright
As---
The Princess of darkness
Surveys her kingdom
There in a sea of mist
Where those stone ships list
Lost souls set adrift
In a picture of---
Horror
And
Delight
For the contest: Among the dead
Calling out with his loud shrill cry
While winging through an azure sky,
Low clouds back light intrepid flight.
Strong talons grasp prey in sharp sight
As feathers float on current's wave,
I view a raptor bold and brave.
Majestic in his swooping quest
He soon returns to guard his nest.
Fledgling beaks open eagerly
Accepting gifts voraciously.
Tree top dwelling, their sacred home
Where King avian victors roam.
The golden eagle, soaring high,
Flies triumphant through autumn's sky.
When chaos reigns we all get wet.
