When Deception Reigns

I searched for the answer to a question I dared to ask wondering why people hide behind so many masks. The query was this: "What's happened to integrity when honesty is replaced with deceit and insincerity?" I had several insightful answers but was left in grim despair when i realized that so few noticed, or perhaps they just didn't care. It's indicative of the times in which the world now exists; one in which deception reigns with belligerence and raised fists.

This is a clear and fine example of poetry that sends a clear and much needed message to this dark world AND THOSE THAT EMBRACE ITS DARKNESS WITH GLEE AND MALICE UNTO OTHERS MY FRIEND. A fav and tis a truly top class poem, IMHO.

Lin, sadly you are so correct. As a CPA of 30 some odd years I can say first hand that people have less honesty and integrity today than they did 30 years ago. I don't know if there is any one reason for this, but my fear is that it is a trend that will be very hard to reverse. I hope I'm wrong. John

Thank you for your insight, John. It's become a "what's in it for me" world of selfishness and greed. No human is capable of reversing it, but God will make things perfect again.

Although this makes me sad, you have expressed this so well. There are however, those without masks, that with all their imperfections, are beautiful humans, I have met many here! :) Hugs

You have delved into the deep and found the truth behind so many events that are happening today, and the sadness that comes from their results! No one wants to change the ways things are, but it really has to change or we will be going into oblivion and it will not be pretty! Great Work!!

Lin, when I look out over the totality of man's existence I come to the conclusion as a species we are filled with emotional instability, we spend most of our energy on self-destruction, throughout our reign over this planet we have left the bodies of hundreds of millions to rot...knowing that, whatever else we do to each other or for ourselves will never surprise me, for we are an ugly creature with illusions of a Heaven we have already destroyed

Man's imperfections have always attributed to the downfall of the race, the planet, etc. but one day all we be restored as was God's original intention. His will be done, for He will never allow the total destruction of what he created. Thanks for your thoughtful insight, Frederic.

So true, many people are afraid of revealing truths about themselves. Deception most certainly is rampant in this world. Nicely written.
