Notes About The Poem

When Deception Reigns

I searched for the answer 
to a question I dared to ask
wondering why people hide 
behind so many masks.
The query was this:  
"What's happened to integrity
when honesty is replaced 
with deceit and insincerity?"

I had several insightful answers 
but was left in grim despair
when i realized that so few noticed,  
or perhaps they just didn't care.
It's indicative of the times 
in which the world now exists;
one in which deception reigns 
with belligerence and raised fists.

As a CPA of 30 some odd years I can say first hand that people have less honesty and integrity today than they did 30 years ago. I don't know if there is any one reason for this, but my fear is that it is a trend that will be very hard to reverse. I hope I'm wrong. No human is capable of reversing it, but God will make things perfect again.

Frederic Parker November 10, 2017 at 11:20 AM Lin, when I look out over the totality of man's existence I come to the conclusion as a species we are filled with emotional instability, we spend most of our energy on self-destruction, throughout our reign over this planet we have left the bodies of hundreds of millions to rot...knowing that, whatever else we do to each other or for ourselves will never surprise me, for we are an ugly creature with illusions of a Heaven we have already destroyed Lin Lane November 10, 2017 at 1:45 PM Man's imperfections have always attributed to the downfall of the race, the planet, etc. but one day all we be restored as was God's original intention.
